(After finishing the loading of the cargo a few hours later. Current time around 6:00-7:00PM [18:00-19:00], late-afternoon) Aueron wiped a formation of warm sweat from his brow with the back of his forearm after placing what appeared to be one of the last few barrels left to be put on the ship. Already, it seemed, the crew onboard was readying the ship for cast-off from the port as a few of the others brought in the rest of the cargo down to the holding area--they must have been in a hurry to get out to sea. Not too long after, mighty white sails dropped down from their folded states on the masts, the anchor was brought up, and all other preperations had been completed--the ship slowly drifted away from the port and turned into the wind. "Finally," the swordsman sighed to himself, "Alright everyone, come here for a minute so I can explain..." There in the cargo-hold of the ship, it was unlikely that the hot-headed captain, himself, would be down there to catch them 'talking' instead of up on deck working like the rest of the crew. But either way, the explanation would have to be short and quick--the more time they spent trying to understand what already happened, the less they had of figuring out what to do next.

Iro, the only other one who already knew the whole of what happened, sat down on one of the barrels they had just loaded. He wondered how the well the other swordsman, who still remained nameless to him, was going to explain their encounter with "the guard." Another nameless face, he thought, or what they had seen of it. They story so far seemed holey enough as it was. How would a second telling affect it?
He waited patiently atop his barrel for the recanting to begin.

Kaine tagged along. Not as much because he was interested in why this group was forced together for some kind of mission as that he got out of doing work! The elf leaned against a beam, ignoring the fact he was going to smell of mildew until his clothes were cleaned because of his resting place. He chewed on his fingernails for lack of anything productive to so with his hands.
"So are we deciding if the guests get fish or poultry?" He sneered, spitting a piece of... something he gnawed at out in a rather uncouth fashion. "I myself think a fillet with a slice of lemon hits the spot."

~Isra sighed with relief. They were done, thankfully. Being a phoenix gave her a little more strength than a normal woman, but it was still a lot of work. She followed Aueron and took a seat on a barrel next to Iro. "This better be good," she mumbled in irritation, more to Iro than Aueron. It was him, after all, that was the reason she was even there.

Aueron drooped his shoulders and looked down towards the wooden floor beneth where he was standing and shook his head at Kaine's comment. It was bad enough that the difficult explanation he had to give was postponed, twice, first due to lack of time and second because of the dwarfish captain, but off-topic jokes or chatter only delayed his speech that he wanted to finally get over and done with--sometimes this is exactly the reason Aueron doesn't like to be around people.
"Anyways..." the once-called 'leader' of the group went on after a sigh, "I suppose we should all know eachother's names first of all... my name is Aueron Lastinar." From the short sentence alone, it was fairly obvious that the speaker didn't like talking all that much at all. His voice was quiet and dull, as though he were either bored out of his mind or he was being forced to speak for one reason or another. There was no sort of pep-talk attitude, no rise or fall in volume, just his dull, yet somewhat gentle voice.
Aueron shifted his weight to his right leg as he waited for the others to reply with their own names, stareing towards them with his lustorous emerald-green eyes that seemed to jump out from the blank-serious facial expression he seemed to wear a whole lot. Without gusts of air down in the hold, his dark brown--almost black--hair stayed in place; neither the sides of his bangs or the boy-ish pony-tail pulled in place in the back moved; likewise went for the green cloak or the clothing he wore.
Again, he seemed eager to be able to go on to explaining the rest of the events that unfolded earlier that day, yet also reluctant to actually do so if he really had the choice. But, all of it was just a sacrafice worth being made if it really meant whether they all lived or died... and there was only one way to tell for sure.

{{{Hey, Swift....have you ever thought about writing a book? Seriously, the way you go into details sometimes...it's pretty good.}}} ~Isra sighed. "As I was trying to say before, my name is Isra. Seems like you're the only one here who doesn't know me, Aueron." She wondered how that must sound. And then, she realized she didn't care. "Guess you should know, in case this little mission of ours involves fighting, I'm a phoenix." She smiled when she recalled that the only person there who knew that was Kaine. She met Iro first, yet he didn't even know much more than her name. How funny it was that things could turn out that way.

((Actually, sorta XD If you want to, "Lost in the Fire" in the Literary thread is something I've been working on every once in a while. I didn't get too far with it yet, but it's the background story of my main RP character, Rynk.))
Aueron looked up at Isra with a slight look of concern buring in his eyes. She is... not human? "...just be sure not to burn the boat down," he said coldly. It might have not exactly been the kindest thing to say, but the conversation had to be as short as possible--he didn't want that whack-job of a captain spoiling their own plans once again. As he stood, he could feel the waves of the ship underneath them, rocking it gently, yet noticeably from side to side. It didn't seem like they were at anchor any more, but instead, finally drifting away--there was a feeling of movement underneath the soles of his leather boots.
"You'll have to excuse the need to be brief in this coversation; the more time we spend here, the more we waste--I don't want that captain to come around before we're finished speaking again..."
EDIT!- ((btw, thank you ^^; ))

{{{Lol, you're welcome! I'm a bit of a writer myself [though it probably isn't apparent from this thread ] and I was pretty impressed, pretty much ever since I read your first couple posts}}} ~Isra nodded, still irritated. "Whatever. Just tell us about this 'mission'." She could always explain later about her two forms. That is, if he even cared to know, which he probably didn't. 'He'll need to know eventually,' she thought, 'I don't want to see him freak out if I have to change mid-battle. Also, if for some reason he doesn't see me change, I couldn't even tell him that the giant flaming bird is me.'

Iro wasn't exactly sure how he missed the fact that Isra wasn't human. To be sure, it has never come up in the two or three conversations they'd ever had but he still felt as if he should have known. Or at least asked. She didn't seem any different from anyone he had met, though. And, besides, asking idle questions wasn't his strong suit.
"Since you're the only one who doesn't know, I'm Iro." His words were directed at the uncouth elf. Iro didn't much like him, particularly his attitude, and wasn't going to waste the effort of feigning to be amiable for him.
"And I don't know why you're worried," he said turning to face Aueron, whom he'd finally gotten a name out of, "The captain is probably on deck now. Right after setting sail is the busiest time for a crew, you know."
He wasn't exactly sure how he knew that little tidbit of information but he knew it to be true as well. Things like that seemed to happen a lot with him. In the end, his mind decided he must have heard it from a drunken sailor at some point.
"If you follow Isra's advice, we'll be done with time to spare. Unless you want me to tell it that is."

Kaine wrinkled his nose at Iro. Something didn't feel quite right about how he had introduced himself. An echo of malice assaulting his hearing. Though the contempt was probably well placed. The elf wasn't much of a fighter nor a believer in this cause which, honestly, he hadn't really wrapped his simple mind around.
"Depends on how well the course is mapped really. Once they register the windspeed and get on the right path, most sailors take a nice rest." Kaine lifted his arms over his head in a stretch. He wasn't particularly sure why he said that. Maybe because he knew it to be so (being a master of odd jobs) or, just as likely, he liked being a contradicting jerk.

"Enough," Aueron broke into the conversation once more, "there are more important things to dicuss rather than how those people run the d**n ship."
From there, the swordsman kept a serious face as he started to explain what had happened between Iro, the guard, and himself. Going on about how Aueron had stopped Iro from heading towards the area where the purple light had shot up towards the sky, and then about when the guard showed up. "He told us we would have died, even if we survived the way over towards the light--there was some sort of hazardous toxin around where he had been; by the time we would have known it was there, it would have been too late. Then he told us that there was another, better, way to find out how to learn about the light, as well as something much more important..."
He went on, talking about how the guard explained the fact that the light had somehow caused a disruption in a magic barrier that shields off everything from the room Saloria is said to sleep in at the top of the Shining Tower in the center of the Holy City. "That guard said that it was now possible to break through that barrier, so more guards and soldiers were called in to protect the tower--because of the lack of man-power, he asked... Iro and I to gather some water from a well inside of a temple on the other side of this sea. The water, he said, was actually tears shed from the goddess herself, and that's what was used to create the magic barrier in the first place."
Aueron paused for a moment, reaching his hand into his pocket to pull out the charm attatched to a string to show the others. "When we get there, we will speak to him through this small, enchanted stone to get our next instructions. All he really told us is that we need to gather a group of four of us, and catch his boat to the other side of the sea. "I know it seems very suspicious in my cases, but there's no way for us to tell if this is really fact or fiction unless we head there. And if we refused, and it turned out to be true, then the world, itself, might fall apart. I'd rather not take that risk..."
Just then, Aueron quickly reached behind his back, grasping the hilt of his sword that sat in its sheath, and withdrew it, turning around and holding the point ahead of him in one, quick motion. Just ahead of the end of the sword stood a woman with a rather startled look on her face, stareing towards the swordman's whose had been nothing but cold, seriousness. The woman in question had long, vivid red hair, and cyrstal-clear blue eyes. She appeared to be in her mid-teens, around seventeen to eighteen, and was garbed in a sort of thick, white robe or gown. Her face seemed to show a sort of gentle nature, and her clothes were rather clean compared to the rest of the sailors and deck-hands; she didn't seem to be a part of the crew at all. "P-please don't--" "Who are you?! Were you listening to us?!" Aueron interjected her panicked plead with a forceful demand.
"I... didn't mean to interfere. M-my name is... Ruby--Ruby Excalina--" The serious look on Aueron's face didn't change, "You're a stow-away, arn't you?"
The girl looked down towards her feet and sighed, "...yes. Please forgive me, I... I needed to get over to my relative's residence in the town near the seaport we're heading to. My brother's come down with a serious illness--I'm a practicing Cleric of healing arts."

{{{For the record, it's called a "stow-away" not a "stole-away"....sorry, I had to do that.... }}} ~Isra had been listening rather intently to the story, and was startled by the girl's presence. "If we turn her over, the captain is likely to throw her overboard," Isra noted aloud. Knowing that it wasn't Aueron's concern, she added, "Would you really want to help that neanderthal?" she asked off-handedly.

((Crap >.< I had a brain-fart at that moment I guess. Thanks for pointing that out XD I fixed it.))
As the white-robed woman looked past the point of Aueron's blade poised just a fair bit away from her neck towards his narrow, green eyes, a greater sense of fear and anxiousness struck into her eyes when Isra made the comment about the captain most likely tossing her over-board to her death if he so found out. Without turning his head back to face the phoenix with a reply, intent on watching the cleric's every subtle move instead, the swordsman conversed back with, "I had no intention of turning her over to that repulsive man... however," his sword didn't budge from it's firmness, "You were in this room the whole time we were talking--you must have heard everything we said... this whole quest is to be the utmost secret, or it may cost all of our lives. I'm afraid a simple promise from you won't be enough, as much as I'd hate to say..."
Ruby looked down towards the ground again with a timid quivering of her lower lip; her peaceful eyes beginning to swell up with the origion of tears, "But..."
"But," Aueron jumped into her own speaking again, "...the fate of your brother isn't something I... we can ignore either," he looked back towards the rest of the group, "I guess that means there's nothing we can do, right?" At the end of his final sentence, his expression seemed to ease up slightly, and he slowly lowered his sword from aiming at the girl's neck and sliding it back into his leather sheath behind the shield that hung on his back. As a result, almost instantly afterwards, Ruby's expression turned directly into slight relief.
Despite the way it seemed on the outside, Aueron had always had a soft spot for people with problems of their own. After all, that exactly what he was as well...

"Hey!" Kaine stood up straight from his lax position. "Whaddea mean we?" The elf had been calmly watching the scene, but the idea of being dragged deeper into whatever treachery he'd already become wrapped up in was mortifying. "I'm all for doing a good deed, but this ain't much the time to go on a little side quest." He marched his fingers through the air.
