Iro very nearly sighed many times during the short exchange of words the others had spoken. First at Kaine's "fairytale" comment, then at Isra's outspoken belief that Saloria was real, then at her outrageous attempt to seduce Kaine, and lastly at Kaine's sudden change of heart. But the abruptness of the swordsman's departure finally made the pent-up gust of air come out. "I think, he's always like that..." The words had been more for his own benefit than for Isra and Kaine.
As he started out after his companion, Iro unconsciously placed his hand on the throat of his scabbard and lifted the blade slightly out with his thumb, then let it drop back in. The habit made sure the sword clear in its sheath and could easily be pulled out quickly. He called back to his newer partners, "Better keep up, he'll probably leave you behind given half a chance and no reason!"

Kaine wasn't calmed much, this certainly didn't look too appealing from his standpoint. He wasn't a believer of legends nor was he a fan of primarily male company. His lean frame slumped forward as he walked, dragging his feet with an irritating grate against the gravel. The poor man's mind was still reeling in an attempt to understand the situation he seemed to have found himself pulled into. He glanced over at Isra frequently, the only familiar face he had to draw comfort from.
Sighing, the elf tossed back his head. "I gotta stop following gals into the unknown." He mumbled, half jokingly. What a jig-saw group... These people didn't seem to compliment eachother and he himself was no exception. At the very least, Kaine rationalized, he could gain passage to the next town.

((Yeah, Kaine's right, where's the White Mage?! Cure+Party buffs pl0x! Lol. Sometimes it seems like I'm the only person who's actually made a RP character before that only solely knows healing/restorative spells--I haven't seen anyone else ever use a character like that so far, anyways. :x maybe I should bring her into the RP ; )) It wasn't too long until the sight of the trading port off in the distance reflected off Aueron's green eyes, and the smell and taste of salt water in the air found its way to his two other senses. The town he had been in previously, the one left in dis-array after the purple light that shot up into the sky, seemed to be just a small suburb compared to it--it seemed to be fairly crowded, just seeing in the distance, as well. Aueron's legs carried him (and most likely also lead the group behind him) nearer to the main gate of the port, and as it would seem, guards had restricted some of the traffic into there as well... and by the looks of some of the faces of the citizens trickling out, they got the same message he and everyone else in the town before heard. "Halt," one of the guards ordered Aueron and the others, "What business do you--" the armor-clad soldier paused for a moment, "Oh... you four must be those emergency-replacement ship-hands; a fellow guard came along and alerted me of your arrival. Made a big deal about how important it was that you get aboard." Ship-hands? d**n that guard..."You guys must be pretty desperate if you decided to work for that bastard of a captain--he threw a few of his workers over-board in the middle of the sea because they refused to work unless they got higher pay... he's got one mean bull-horn stuck up his--" "Great," Aueron followed up and moved forward past the guard, signaling to the others to do the same. The streets were crowded with many people from workers to guards to simple pedestrians. The ambiance was much louder than the previous town, requiring one to speak up just so someone next to them can hear. Though the architecture wasn't as refined as the town had been (because most of the buildings here were warehouses and mills rather than houses), it seemed to be much better funded and sturdy, especially seeing from the fact that much less damage had been caused by the shock-wave here. "The boat's up-ahead," the swordsman had turned his head back to tell the others, "it seems we made it on time."

~Isra grunted. She had never particularly liked water, due to being a phoenix, but a boat? She almost walked away. Almost. Yet she was compelled to continue.
'Guard? What guard? How had he known that there were four of us? Is someone watching us?' Isra's mind was boggled. But, regardless of her suspiscions, or her displeasure at such unpleasant company, she followed the group onto the boat. 'Maybe this guy will turn out to be friendlier once we get settled,' she thought silently.
She sighed deeply, her hair floating gently in the sea breeze. "I can't believe I'm trusting a wooden contraption to keep me from drowning. Some planks are the only thing keeping me from death," she muttered darkly.

((:3 If we are in dire need of such, I can try to pull one together. Yer already doing so much Swift, silly! Don't overexert yourself! XD))
Kaine planted a palm smartly in between Isra's shoulder blades, forgetting for a moment that she was the only female there. "There are a lot of unreliable things in this world, but I've found that well treated wood is not amoung them. The issue here is the work." The mention of it paled the elf's tanned face. "Ya' see now boats and me don't have a great history. Hell work and me don't have a great repertoire neither." He tugged nervously at the corner of his ear. "What kinda work are we talkin' about? Are we just the ones that clean up or do we have to man the star-bow board or whatever it is?"
Truthfully he was half hoping he could just run out on the crew where they were. The busy little town, full of life, good booze, and fresh womenfolk was most certainly an appealing atmosphere. However this nagging sense of honor forbade him from abandoning the rag-tag commune.
Kaine licked his lips, freeing it of sea salt. "And this sorta air makes my ears itchy." He wasn't quite certain of that, really. But it sounded good.

~Isra's eyes closed as she smiled. "You realize, of course, that if I were to, say, fall overboard, you're the first one I'd pull down with me." her tone suggested joking, but her smile suggested menace.
She looked back at Kaine. "As for work, I'm not very concerned. It can't be too much, can it? As long as it doesn't involve me and water, I think I'll manage." She breathed in sharply. The smell was a bit irritating. She was not used to it.

((It wouldn't be too much of a problem, really, lol. If anything, she could be one of those characters that just happens to 'show up' from time to time to make things different. That is, unless you really want to make another character.))
"When that guard said he was going to get us a 'discount' on the trip over, I didn't know this is what he had in mind," Aueron scowled, more or less aiming his words towards Iro as he had been the one with him to hear that story, "This is a cargo-ship, not a cruise-liner."
Stepping onto the deck with the others, the ambience of the ship came upon his ears--the crash of waves upon the hull, the slight creaking and rocking of the ship itself, wind blowing through the rolled up sails... it was the first time Aueron had ever been on a boat this size. But, now he had a promise to keep--to inform the others about the whole situation so they'd all be on the same page by the time they got across the sea. Having his back origionally turned away from the group to take in the sights of the open sea spread off the starboard(right) side of the vessel, the young swordsman turned around to face the others and drew in a slight breath to speak. However, when a voice did carry on, it wasn't it own. "'Ey what are ye lugs waitin' around fer!? We got work to do!" the voice, deep, dried-up, and obviously angry shouted at them from behind. Aueron turned around quickly to see who it belonged to, but his eyes came across nothing at all but random ship-hands and the wood-construction of the ship.
That was... until he looked down. It appeared his speaker happened to be a dwarf--or at least he looked like one with his large nose, shortened hight (a little over half of his own), and stout build. "If 'ya ain't the replacements I called fer, then what in the godesses' name are 'ya doing on m' ship! There's plenty of barrels still needing to be loaded onboard with the other cargo--get to work!!" With that, the little man stomped off and began yelling at another crew-member about being careful with what he carried--Aueron nearly spit at the back of his heels. After a glance back at the others, the green-eyed adventurer walked back towards the boarding ramp.*
((*couldn't remember the actual term :x))

Kaine grinned broadly, turning so he faced his female friend. "I guess its a good thing I'm buoyant!" The laugh that started to erupt was cut short as he toppled backwards over a barrel. A slender ship hand shouted out in protest and the elf's keen ears noted the sound of sloshing from within the container.
"Do you want to kill the lot of us?! If you break that it'll be comin gout of your rations!" The worker frowned, his pointed nose flaring.
Kaine matched his thin-lipped scowl with one of his own. "I don't think I'm too fond of the rations idea. You're little I need a lot more than you." He didn't mention the fact he really didn't plan on doing menial labor and thus didn't need as much.
With a scoff the lanky gentlemen strode away, Kaine lifting his legs above his head to gain enough momentum to jump to his feet. He succeeded in rolling over backwards instead. Sitting up he rubbed his long nose. "Hmph... the nerve."

~Isra had managed to contain her chuckles at Kaine tripping, but once he rolled back, she could not hold her laughter within. "Well, maybe this won't be so boring after all," she noted, extending her hand to help the man up.

Kaine pursed his lips and pushed himself up to a standing position once more. "Well now I don't think laughing at me is gonna get you very far. Its hardly flattering."

"Hehe, my my, aren't we feeling a bit tempermental?" Isra joked. "And what good does being 'flattering' do on a work ship?" She looked back at Aueron. "Hey, what's the deal? Are we supposed to help out here or what?"

"Naw thats only a word for women, men get angry or... ya know... somethin like that." He scratched his head and nodded, glancing toward their illustrious uh... leader? "Yeah person. I don't really wanna work more than I have to. And I really shouldn't HAVE to do anything."

Aueron stopped short of heading toward the barrels that were pointed out by the small, angry man, hearing the others ask him about the task that had supposedly been set before them. Personally, he thought it was slightly obvious that they had no real choice in the matter, but it seemed the others had a bit of a doubt over it.
So, he turned around to face them, and pointed it out for them, "It's this, or we swim a hundred or so miles. Unless you happen to have some special-family inheritance, we won't be able to afford a cruise for the four of us. Let's just get this done--we have a free ride across the sea, a place to sleep, and food to eat." Aueron's voice was cool, and somewhat blunt, like it usually was, unlike the others who liked to carry on conversations. Sincerely though, he had liked having to do some heavy-lifting no more than the others, and he was sure to have 'a talk' with that guard next time they had a chance to speak. But, with what appeared to be on the line--the fate of the world--it seemed as though it might be worth it.

~Isra thought a moment. 'I might barely have enough for myself, but there's no way i could afford to take everyone.' She smiled slightly. 'Guess I could always go off on my own.' But she dismissed the thought immediatly. Kaine still owed her a wolf-carving, and she owed Iro for the other day.
Isra sighed. "Alright then, looks like we're working, boys," she said aloud, disregarding Kaine's frustrated grunt. She walked over to the barrels and crouched, hoisting one onto her narrow shoulder. 'd**n, these are heavy.' she thought.
Isra turned back to make sure Aueron would lead the way, as she had no idea where exactly on the ship to put the barrels.

(( XD! Poor Kaine! Stuck in debt! ))
The man frowned and took his time. He pushed and wiggled and kicked and tested a number of barrels. Just because the others weren't bright enough to find the lightest loads doesn't mean he shouldn't take advantage of the situation. Kaine hoisted the container onto his back, leaning forward for it to rest solidly on his shoulder blades. While it may have been the gentlest in terms of weight, it was no picnic lugging the thing up an incline across a rocking ship, down a narrow staircase, and into some musky hull.
Kaine set his share down and rubbed at his elbows. Long limbed as he was, the joints scraped against the sides of the narrow hallways of the ship. With a pursed-lipped pout he picked at a splinter lodged into the fleshy part, his short nails doing little more than aggravating the itching sensation it was bringing. "I'm not going to be happy..." He growled.
