maybe she volunteers after school, and she's put in charge of cleaning that room or something, or is a teacher's aide, and that teacher is scheduled to detention duty. =] Oooo that's good! Didn't even think about that!

((Might be too early to start the school day, seeing as some of the characters haven't made it to the building yet. Should be fine though.))
Noel walked into her classroom, with a detention slip in one hand and her books in the other. She was very frustrated by the whole thing, but her face displayed no emotion. The principal decided to give Noel a detention because this was the seventh time a teacher complained about her shoes and, as the principal stated, "it is explained clearly in the student handbook which shoes are appropriate and which are not."
She slipped into an open seat towards the front of the room and placed her books on the desk, slipping her detention slip into one. Then she unbuttoned her coat, but didn't take it off. She knew some of the students were staring at her, but she didn't care; she was freezing.
I'm going to have to call home at lunch she thought as she flipped the book to appropriate chapter. Who's clever idea was it to have after-school detentions? ((FIIILLER lol))

It could be something random. Like she forgot to her homework or someone framed her for stealing something. My character isn't bad either, she just likes to have her feet be warm.

I think a great way to get all the characters together is to have them all get an after-school detention, for various reasons. I've already set up my character for a detention because she keeps breaking the dress code. It's up to you guys.

Noel was one of the first students to arrive at the school. She was so early that some of the teachers still hadn't arrived yet. She went to her locker, got her books and started for her homeroom class, but was stopped by one teacher she didn't particularly get along with.
"Miss Rigentes," she said, crossing her arms, "You've been told multiple times that your choice in footwear is a violation of the school dress code."
Noel looked down at her boots. The school dress code called for black flats for girls, which her boots clearly weren't. Of course she had a few pairs of flats but she never wore them.
Before she had a chance to respond, the teacher continued, "I am growing tired of correcting you on your infraction. Report to the principal's office and explain to him why you refuse to follow the dress code."
The teacher continued her way down the hallway. Noel stood for a second, then threw her books back into her locker with a groan and started for the office.

By the time Noel's alarm clock went off, she was already awake and halfway dressed. She had always been an early riser and today was no exception. With a sigh, she turned off the alarm and reached for her boots. She had been told repeatedly by the principal that her fur lined boots were not acceptable footwear but there was no way she was leaving the house without them. It was bad enough she had to freeze halfway to death in the uniform's skirt.
She shuffled into the kitchen. Her father was sitting at the kitchen table, reading a newspaper absentmindedly while her mother was cooking at the stove. Wordlessly, Noel took her seat to the left of her father. Complete silence. A few minutes later Noel's mother handed her and her father a plate of scrambled eggs and took her seat across from Noel's father. The silence was accented by the sound of forks scraping across plates and the occasional shuffle of the newspaper.
When Noel finished, she took her plate to the sink and rinsed it off. She glanced at the clock. If she left now, she would be a half hour early for class. Better at school than here. she thought to herself.
"I'm leaving now," she said, grabbing a light coat and her bookbag. The temperature was reasonable outside, but Noel knew she would be cold. Her mother nodded at her. Her father didn't look up from his newspaper, but said, "Come straight home. We have things to discuss."
Noel grimaced and exited the house, closing the door quietly as she went. Discussions with her father were never enjoyable. She slowly started down the road, crossing her arms to help keep warm.

Just to clear some things up, correct me if I'm wrong:
1. The temples are in the areas you mentioned earlier, but the families live in the same general area. Does that mean the heads of the families are living at the temples? 2. Do the heirs have any special abilities or is it just the heads of the families? 3. Do the heirs know that kids from other families attend the school?

Yeeep I'm going to have to change a few things before we start lol. I definitely thought about using the killer whale, except I thought a creature that lived on the earth would be more logical. I kept thinking about beached whales. XD

'Nother question: Where are each of the element temples at? I'm thinking Russia might be good for water/ice, unless you had an area specified.

Name: Noel Rigentes (Rigentes translates to "the frozen ones" in latin. Perfect, not?) Age: 15 Gender: Female Eyes: Very pale blue; washed out Hair: straight, just at shoulders, light brown Height: 5'3 Element User: water/ice Family Elemental Guardian: Polar bear ((Subject to change. I think polar bears are tacky but I refuse to do penguins. )) Appearance: Short, not really muscular or athletic Clothing: Noel ironically hates being cold or wet, so she likes to "bundle up". She wears mid-calf, fur-lined, water proof sheepskin boots and thick wool knee high socks under a pair of jeans. She wears a sweater with a hood underneath a thick gray coat and always wears a pair of fingerless gloves that turn into mittens. As expected, she keeps a scarf and hat handy just in case the need arises. Personality/History: Noel is the odd-ball of the family. While most every other member of her family enjoys swimming, she despises getting wet and being cold. Her family consists of her father (the head of the family), her mother, and several uncles, aunts, and cousins. She has an irrational fear of drowning and is always cold, even when most people are sweating. Noel's a little naive and very curious, due partly to her age and partly to the customs of her family, and knows very little about the outside world. She seems distant and quiet, but before the death of her brother she was very friendly and cheerful. Noel is next in line to inherit the head position, but was not originally. Her older brother recently died of hypothermia when he got separated from his friends during a blizzard. She is very unprepared for the task. Her father is a firm believer that all women need to know is how to sew, cook, and have babies; she was never trained for anything that involves fighting or political affairs. Her biggest fear, after hypothermia and drowning, is that she will disappoint her father, who doesn't believe she will be able to take over his responsibilities. ((EDIT: society --> family. Let me know if something needs to change. ))

Oooo... Sorry Zyph. I didn't really see your post. How badly do you want water/ice? I've had this character in mind for a while but you did make a post first... This rp takes place in the real world, not? Like, they go to school and everything? I'm really peculiar about details lol.
