Ah. Good to know that we have someone around here that knows what they're doing when it comes to D&D. Honestly, I haven't got a clue. It's been around so long that it intimidates me. ;D

Erie...help me out here please! Cause i so wanna learn on D&D. whats the basics on its rp-ing?
i did the quiz in the first post. and i came out as....
"You Are A:
True Neutral Half-Elf Ranger
True Neutral characters are very rare. They believe that balance is the most important thing, and will not side with any other force. They will do whatever is necessary to preserve that balance, even if it means switching allegiances suddenly.
Half-Elves are a cross between a human and an elf. They are smaller, like their elven ancestors, but have a much shorter lifespan. They are sometimes looked down upon as half-breeds, but this is rare. They have both the curious drive of humans and the patience of elves.
Rangers are the defenders of nature and the elements. They are in tune with the Earth, and work to keep it safe and healthy."
What to do now???

alrighty then... if you want to use that character, as a ranger you should decide on a favored enemy, basically someone your character is trained in fighting (goblinoids, constucts, undead, etc.) Rangers also generally fight with two weapons, so pick two... the usual is a long/short sword, also a bow is good. Rangers do get spells, although not many, and they tend to relate to the wilds. True neutral, I never did like that switcing sides thing, its more of a not picking a side to begin with. True neutrals usually don't care about good or evil. hmmm.... Can't really think of much more, anything else post again

half-elves tend to live for a lot longer than humans, though not as long as elves. Abilities, hmm.... Other than the ranger stuff, they tend to be kind of resistant to spells, especially enchantments. They also have good lowlight vision. favored eney, that you can pick just about anything based on your character's past, but as an elf, goblinoids or orcs would work nicely

Hey Ereinion, is there anything useful you can tell me about playing this character?
Neutral Good Elf Ranger Bard Follower Of Mielikki
Alignment: Neutral Good characters believe in the power of good above all else. They will work to make the world a better place, and will do whatever is necessary to bring that about, whether it goes for or against whatever is considered 'normal'.
Race: Elves are the eldest of all races, although they are generally a bit smaller than humans. They are generally well-cultured, artistic, easy-going, and because of their long lives, unconcerned with day-to-day activities that other races frequently concern themselves with. Elves are, effectively, immortal, although they can be killed. After a thousand years or so, they simply pass on to the next plane of existance.
Primary Class: Rangers are the defenders of nature and the elements. They are in tune with the Earth, and work to keep it safe and healthy.
Secondary Class: Bards are the entertainers. They sing, dance, and play instruments to make other people happy, and, frequently, make money. They also tend to dabble in magic a bit.
Deity: Mielikki is the Neutral Good goddess of the forest and autumn. She is also known as the Lady of the Forest, and is the Patron of Rangers. Her followers are devoted to nature, and believe in the positive and outreaching elements of it. They use light armor, and a variety of weapons suitable for hunting, which they are quite skilled at. Mielikki's symbol is a unicorn head.

basically what I posted before, only with the addition of bard:
Bards tend to gather information, like telling/finding/making new stories, good bards tend to help out the oppressed. Bards can use their music as a kind of magic, and neither of those classes has real flashy fireballs or lighting-bolt type spells.

Good because I really don't use magical characters often.
Ok tell me when you get tired of all the questions here.
What can you tell us about the realms for D&D? I really haven't got a clue about creatures, other races, or lands. I keep looking for sites that explain it all but I can't find anything yet.

Ok. I'll do some digging around there and see if I can figure things out a little before I ask any more questions.
