Gah... There's so much stuff to read and yet none of it seems to be helping me understand this game. Dude! I just found this website and so far it's been really helpful in understanding races and what not. It even has some maps to learn from. myth-drannor.net/DlabraddathNet/z-Dlabraddath/Main.htm

Oh yeah... a week or so ago I had a D&D meeting... after about 15 minutes, "Is it an illuuuusionary ______" and "Can I cast an Illuuuusion on ____" got rather tiring...

*watches that fly right over her head* In case you haven't noticed, I still don't have a clue what I'm doing when it comes to D&D, despite the fact that I research it all the time. lol. ;D You need to just move down here where you can go to my friends' D&D meetings.

from looking at the character profile board, I'd say you got my hint.

I can read can't I? But like I said, I still have no clue what I'm doing... And I've been researching constantly for the past three days. lol.

If its any consolation, you are doing great in the first RP we started. In fact, you are doing better than some of the people who play D&D with me do...

Well, that does make me feel a bit better (if you're not lying through your teeth) but I still need a LOT of help. I'm not comfortable rping anything until I know everything about it but it's kinda hard to learn everything about D&D. I can't even finish filling in this character's information, for heaven's sake.

this will not be a consolation, but the real D&D characters are a lot harder... you have ability scores, skill points, feats... *ahem back to your character... hmmm... height just pick something and you can make something up for family as far as weapons go, a hand crossbow or light crossbow is never bad, same with a shortbow, although for melee you should have a rapier, and maybe a few daggers just because. Blade Boots are always good to have on hand as well... as far as Deity goes, the god of theives is evil of some sort, but there is a good goddess of luck... you'll probably just have to pick, or you could pick cn god of wanderers and adventureres, or just go without a patron deity... only clerics, paladins, rangers, and druids really need one. If you want to put down armor, pick studded leather or leather. hope that helps a bit... sorry if it was a bit long.

Yeah, so I've seen... Blah... Thank God I'm only roleplaying here... I don't even want to think about how lost I'd be if it was the real D&D style... Anywho, I wasn't sure what heights were normal for D&D. My characters usually wind up being a little tall because I'm tall. But I'll just pick something random and stick it in there. lol. And as for weapons, I suppose I'll just stick with a few daggers since she's not really that much of a fighter... And yeah, I had a lot of deities that I was looking at, mostly Sharess and Mask. But like you said, I don't really need one so I won't worry about it at the moment. Ok... Now as for the history thing... I was thinking about having her born and raised in Calimport, which is why she's obsessed with money, has dark skin, has a super long name with the "yr" and "el", and seeks pleasure for herself instead of for others. Any ideas?

Calimport would be great... I was thinking either Calimshan or Kara Tura would work with that name... you've obviously done your research really well. As if you had the forgotten Realms handbook right in front of you (which I do). Oh, and if you want to see a funny online comic strip relating to D&D, check this out.

;D Glad to know I've got something right. I've been looking at about a thousand websites for information on Calimshan all day long so I'd better know at least a little bit of what I'm talking about there. 143 episodes?! These people must have almost as much free time as I do... lol. Gah. Ok. So I still have to figure out how a woman of Calimport winds up in Cormyr... I think I might have an idea but I've gotta sort out the details... and I'm getting a headache. lol. I make things way too complicated for my own good.

hmmmm... or I could change my post and have me on a mission somewhere in calimshan for either Cormyr or the Church of Ilmater, if that would make things a bit easier for you... or perhaps something where you were sent on a mission by the Fire Knives or Harpers or someone...

Nah, I have to get her out of Calimport... Women are treated like trophies there and are good for nothing but entertainment most of the time. Zahrah's too independent and fiery to stay in a place like that... And, while I don't have a clue about Fire Knives or Harpers, I do know that Zahrah wouldn't go on any mission unless the pay was really good. lol. So now that I've shot all that down... *puts on her thinking cap* ............................................................... Um... Yeah... I know! Let's take the easy way out! Does Cormyr do much trading with Calimshan by any chance?
