Dr. Martin thought for a second. "No, you don't have to be in the bed, but do you remember where the call button is?" he said, pointing out the red button on the side of the bed. "If you start to hurt--especially in your chest--you have to push that button so that one of the nurses can come help, okay?" what the hell? he thought. It'll only be a couple of minutes.

Kirika nodded quickly, then said "Chocolate is okay!" She beamed a smile, trying hard not to cough; it turned out more like a misgevious grin, however, but she didn't really notice. She knew better than to ignore doctors when they were being serious.
Hopping into a chair next to the bed after the doctor left, she grabbed the remote and flipped around to some cartoons on the TV. However, it wasn't long before she started getting tired. Fighting back as long as she could, it wasn't too long before she gave in and dozed off; at least she was able to get into a comfortable position before she fell asleep. It wasn't like she hadn't gotten a lot of sleep the night before, and nothing was hurting, so it was strange to her, but she couldn't fight it at all...

(Probably some broken bones... other than that, I haven't come up with anything. We'll have to wait for Poptart to weigh in with Erin.)
Jason passed Dr. Martin in the hall... they were still prepping the OR and working out consent with the Warson kid, so he had some time before he had to hit the scrub room. "Are you working the Warson case?" he asked Seth casually.

((I'm thinking some pretty serious bone injuries that will require some bed time, maybe a damaged nerve path that requires a month of physical therapy or something like that. Sound good?))
"Yes," Dr. Martin replied, "but I'm not a cutter. That's why I ordered a surgical consult, which must have gone our way. I'll be sure to check up on him after it's all said and done, but as of right now, I've got patients to see and ice cream to get. Oh, and your girlfriend's here, so you may want to pay a visit." He walked past him and to the stairs, which he always took, and to the kitchen, where he grabbed a bowl of ice cream off one of the kitchen worker's carts and and headed back for the stairs.
Erin looked at the readout. She cocked her head. Still no different, she thought. Oh well, we can't really do anything about it until the bones are healed anyways. She paged Dr. York, printing out the results of the CT scan.
Poking her head out in the hallway, she coaxed one of the orderlies into helping her move the heavily bandaged girl back into her bed from the machine. Knowing what Erin knew now, she didn't want to take any chances with the girl.

((Since you already got Shane's problem figured out, how about introducing complication in the surgery so I can stay a while longer? I leave it to you or whoever is gonna be the chief of surgery to figure out what it could be...))

(I'm sure we can figure something out, Knight. @poptart: Girlfriend? ) "I'll keep you in the loop -- after the surgery, I'll come see you," Jason promised Seth, shaking his head. This could get awkward, he thought, imagining Karina and Wendy meeting. Throw Mandy in the mix, and we've got the brewings of a full-blown apocalypse. Mandy was the rather well-endowed night receptionist at the hospital, who Jason had had a brief fling with before meeting his current girlfriend, Wendy, a former patient who had fallen for him. It could be worse, he thought, smiling ruefully. From the positive side of things, for a nerd I get a lot of action.

((I was talking about Kirika. Sorry to put you on the spot, lol but your interpretation should make things much more interesting, provided we find someone to play the part of Mandy and Wendy.))

(I had already come up with the concept of Mandy -- based, believe it or not, on someone I know in real life who works at a hospital -- as another of my overly slutty female characters. She won't have any particular attachment to Jason, as she's not exactly the monogamous sort. As for Wendy, that was just a name I pulled out of my ass... if someone wants to play her and doesn't like it, it can be changed.)

Karina didn't like the look Erin was giving the read-outs, but as she said nothing, so did the injured girl.
Knowing that Jason was to check in with her after the scan, she waited in her room, extremely bored and wanting a book to read or something to get her mind away from the dreadful white walls and the nasty, too-clean smell of hospitals.

Jason didn't want to keep Wendy waiting, but he did want to check on Karina's scan results before heading downstairs. He ducked into the CT room and said, "Hey Erin, how'd Karina's scan go?"

Erin flopped the scan down on her desk, leaning over it and pointing at the frontal lobe. "Look at the motor cortex. Looks a little swollen, right? I'm no doctor, but the patient may be experiencing problems with motor skills, may have strange reactions to touch and whatnot. That's your job to figure out." She handed the scans over to the doctor. "So, how do you two know each other? If you don't mind my asking," She stretched her arms over her head, rolling her neck forward in an attempt to remove the morning kinks.
Dr. Martin entered the room, to see the girl asleep, curled up in the chair. She looked somewhat comfortable, so he decided against moving her or waking her. He pulled out one of his prescription cards and wrote a simple note on it: "Ice Cream in the freezer at the nurses station. Page them when you wake up and they'll bring it to you." He stuck it on the arm of the chair with a bit of tape, patted the girl on the head softly and went to go check on his other patients.

"She was on the island with me," Jason said. Erin knew about the island... hell, pretty much everybody knew at least the basic gist of the story. "She was a patient, as a matter of fact... when we first met, her ankle was broken."

Erin rubbed her neck. "Well, she's certainly got a knack for broken bones." She walked over behind the desk and started filling out the paper work for the scan. "So, you gonna tell Wendy she's here?"

"I doubt it," Jason said. "Karina was before Wendy's time... no need to confuse people by bringing up names they won't recognize, right?" Besides, Wendy lets me hit on you, he thought, but kept this to himself.
