"I wouldnt be much without the army." He said, while chewing, then swallowed and took another bite. "Back home I wouldnt have made a living, and would probably be a laborer or something. Plus, I kick ass with a sniper rifle."

"Labors a safer route but hardly as fun eh?" The corporal grinned, shaking his head. "You're right about kicking ass though. Been a while since I've seen a shot like yours. I'm just glad you're on my side."

Larq felt a degree of shame once everything had cleared. His lost unit member likely fell due to his own poor strategy. He felt no need to socialize with the others and began typing up ideas for his report. M'rlassi Dijor once told him that Qu'rem tend to have a difficult time formulating strategies for land battles. This failure was in no part due to being a land battle, but because of his own incompetencies.
He sit there quietly and type. All that could be heard was the occasional sound from his gills.
*a M'rlassi is a reef governor.

Jovi finished his food and got up to get more.
"Man a good mission sure does take it out of you eh?" He asked, going up to the all you can eat bar. There were some Asian men, some Italian chefs, some alien chefs, and plenty of good looking things to eat being made behind it.

A little down from the loss of her teammate and not wanting to end the day on a dark note, Palira took her dismissal as an invitation to explore the ship. It was not only her favorite pastime, but it was also something she used as a tool to clear her head. It was also something that got her in trouble frequently. Most of the time it was for being for where she wasn't supposed to be and resulted in a firm scolding and her sent scurrying off with a task to do. There a few times that she got worse than having her wrists slapped, though the punishments never deterred her doing it the next time.
Sure enough, the instant she stepped out of stepped out of the docking bay doors, her head was inundated with thoughts like that's a funny sound, wonder where its coming from and Ooh! A smell, I think I'll follow it or even I think I'll go. . . this way. All thoughts of her previous mission -- or of anything else, for that matter -- had completely vanished and were replaced with an undying sense of curiosity. Rushing down the hall after whatever caught her attention she went, looking very feline as she did.

Jovi saw Palira rush past the doorway in the hall outside of the cafeteria. "We dont see that everyday now do we?" He asked, then went to follow her.

A soft but insistant knocking sounded from the door to Larq's quarters.
Coming out of engineering, Chief engineer Darald stopped trying to wipe the grime off his hands with a rag nearly as dirty as the skin it was suppose to be cleaning. His eyes narrowed at the sight of Palira coming down the hallway. The stocky, bearded man moved to intercept her. " Oh no ya don't " he growled in a would-be menecing voice, though it wasn't as gruff as normal. While he in no why liked Palira anywhere near engineering, that did not mean he did not like Palira herself. Though a stern man, something about the feline woman made it difficult for him to be short with her. " Ya can just turn around and head back tha way ya came girl. I just got them engines purring like a..." he paused for a moment as if reconsidering his words. " Just, go on..." he pointed a thick finger at her and waved it back up the hallway she had came down.

Larq heaved a sigh which went through his gills too. He slowly got up, pushed his chair in, and answered the door.
"Hello?" He said, forgetting that he was expected to speak verbally.

(OOC: Sorry for being gone the last couple days. There was holiday stuff going on.)
A pout on her face and a mewl in her throat, Palira tried to peer around the bulk of the chief engineer. "Aw, come on. I know you wanna let me in." she said, sounding like a petulant child. There was always so many fun things in engineering.
Seeing that Darald would not be budged, Palira turned back the way she came with her shoulders slumped. Seeing Jovi caused her to brighten though. Jogging over to her whilst waving, she exclaimed, "Jovi! What are you doing here?"

"I thought I saw a cat running through the hallway, and I thought I would get a little praise from supporting the no pet rule." He joked, then turned to the engineer.
"What you workin on in there"

The door to Larq's quarters opened to reveal Broem, showered and changed out of his powersuit clothing and into an off duty outfit from his homeworld, which was a terrible clashing of bright colors only someone from a species that can see in ultraviolet can enjoy looking at. He nodded to Larq. " Hello, mind if I come in for a bit?" He made it clear by his tone, and to the telepathic corporal by his surface thoughts and feelings, that this was entirely a request from one person to another, not an order or anything to do with rank.
" Just doing some fine tuning," Darald answered, still keeping a warry eye on Palira. " We're putting in for Truelight's annual check up, and this time I'm determined that no one will find anything bad to say about my ship," he finshed in an angry growl, a tone of possiveness in his words. Part of Darald's success as an engineer was in how attached he got to the things he worked on, and he didn't take it well when he had to be told something, anything, no matter how small, needed more work after he thought it was fine and fixed.

Palira assumed an annoyed look, her bottom lip protruding a little bit. Humans constantly mentioned these. . . "cats" around her and none of them ever deemed it necessary to tell her what it was. She may not have had any clue what the joke was but she knew what a pet was, and that gave way to the fact that she was the butt of a joke. That she didn't understand it didn't help matters either.
Maintaining her expression she turned around to face the engineer again. "So, why won't you let me in? It's not like it could hurt anything."

Darald barked out a laugh without any mirth. " Girly, I've never before met anyone who took such delight in pushing buttons just to see what they can do as you do." He shook his head and began shooing Palira back up the hallway with his dirty rag. " Go on, bother the suit mechanics or the bridge crew or the cafe workers or anyone else but me..."

Larq looked at Broem for a moment. "How might I be of assistance?" he asked, still speaking on a professional tone despite the thoughts of the other speaker. He gestures Broem in and sprays his gills again. "Brish!"

" Actually," Broem said, stepping inside. " That was going to be my question to you." He looked at Larq with sharp eyes, eyes that were searching for something.
