"I'd be a very poor military leader if i shared my intentions, lets just say i don't like the strategic disadvantage of having my army glued to my capital." Isferg replied. "And this is Khalathir, of course i view you as a threat, when have two armed forces ever lived peacefully in this place? But to answer your question you need not view me as a threat, my long term goal is to build a trade empire along the Kern river , and ship goods from the elves all the way south to the city of Senniea"
Then use the gold i make from that trade to bring all of Khalathir under my rule, but they need not know that part.

" That's quite a goal," Konar remarked thoughtfully. " Sounds very profitable." He paused in thought for a moment. " You seem to have a decent force of fighting men, but even if this city was full of nothing else, you would not have enough to complete your goal, not by far. Perhaps I could lend aid towards that problem?"

"Aid?" Isferg asked, mulling it over. "And what would this aid cost me? what are your goals in this?"

Konar smiled. It was a humorless smile. " My goal is to be able to live my life without worrying about when the next warlord is going to come storming into the place I live, killing, looting, and taking whatever he wants. As for cost...well I'm not asking you to hire me and my men. I'm asking you to consider working with us. So I guess the cost would be an equal share of whatever we can earn. If nothing else, it could benefit us to work together so that we both don't have to leave most of our forces behind to guard what we rule. You leave a few of your men, I leave a few of mine, the greater part of both our armies gets to move on to the next goal."

"Quite a goal." Isferg quoted. He walked down the hall toward Konar. "So a military alliance. Very well." He reached out his gauntleted hand, waiting for Konar to clasp it. "To peace in Kalathir." Even if the only way tom obtain peace is through war.

" Peace in Khalathir," Konar repeated, taking Isferg's hand. " What's our first move? I'll follow you on this one, as a show of faith."

Isferg shook his head, before turning, and walking away. "Return to your men, and ill contact you when i know my next move."

Konar glared after Isferg for a second, almost about to call after the man for his sudden dismissal. With an effort, he got himself back under control, turning on his heel and marching out of the room without a word.

Both of Konar's "advisers" were left in the room for about a second until they realized that the meeting was over. They had to rush for a short period in order to catch up with him.
Hiranna had been listening the entire time to the leaders' conversation, trying to discern each of their thoughts. At the end she thought she was no closer to discovering her own leader's intentions on this matter, but she did however think she got to know Isferg's personality a little bit better.
There was no denying both of those things were important, but the former annoyed her more. Was Konar just going to do such rash things all the time? He must have known that she would have objected to both allying with them so forthwith and to allowing Isferg to decide their first joint action with none of their input. That was probably why he didn't tell her what he doing beforehand.
In fact, she was so pent up with her comments, that she had just barely successfully contained during the audience, that she couldn't help giving him a "Why did you do that!?" along with a weak one-handed shove as soon as she caught up with him outside the room.

Konar caught Hiranna's wrist, and though his face was a plain mask, his grip was an iron vice. " I did what needed doing," he answered calmly, but his eyes blazed. " We will discuss it more when we are back home..."

Hiranna stared angrily into Konar's eyes, her gaze an even match in intensity. After a moment, she broke eye contact and looked down instead. "Fine. Lead on then." The words sounded the slightest bit sullen.

Konar was silent all the way out of the city, speaking only once to send the scouts out. They were well into the wilderness, and the circle of soldiers was wide when he drew rein in next to Hiranna and spoke softly to her. " You need to control yourself. That kind of behavior in front of the enemy is seriously detremential to our cause."

Hiranna thought the silence between them had given her time to cool off completely. Almost. "I know that," she said with every ounce of calm she could muster, "but it was no worse than selling out our entire force to a man who could very well bring us down in his first move!" Perhaps, she wasn't as calm as she thought.

" Do you really believe I meant half of what I said in there?" Konar asked, looking like he might scoff or laugh, or both.

Hiranna sighed. "No, I don't suppose you did." Snowhare's ears twitched. Horses didn't like people constantly fighting and hers was becoming agitated from the tension. "Fine," she said firmly, "Tell me what you're planning."
