It didn't really surprise Hiranna that they had been spotted before they reached the city. If the city was their stronghold, then it was likely to be well defended and well watched. No, what had caught her attention was the fact that Konar had been hoping for them not to be prepared. She hoped he wasn't planning anything devious.
There was nothing to be done, however. She doubted he was going to tell her, or anyone for that matter, until after the fact. Resignedly, she looked at the road ahead. She knew the city would be in view soon and was hoping for glance.

As they drew near the city, Konar brought his horse up along side Hiranna. He had been passing among the mages one by one, giving out instructions, or advice, or perhaps just urging caution. He looked at her for a moment, clearly weighing a choice in his mind, then spoke softly so just she could hear. " If we have to run, do you what you can for the men, but don't fall behind me. Your skills are too valuable to lose on a mission like this. I'd sacrifice everyone else here before I'd lose you..."

Isferg was barely back form the hike when one of his scouts reported the approaching force. "contact them, if there peaceful bring them to the war room... if not.. well then ill deal with them soon enough." When the scout set off Isferg called in one of officers and ordered his heavy infantry to position themselves around the war room. With a sign Isferg strapped back on his amour and setout for the war room.
The war room was a large room, with a high ceiling, and six doorways leading into it. Four fire places sat along the edges of the room, the closest thing to decoration this place had, the walls, floor and ceiling being simple oaken planks.
A long table sat dead center in the room, at the moment its entire surface was covered with scattered maps, and notes. Even as Isferg stood there however people rushed about, clearing the table of anything that could hint to Isfergs intentions, or military might. Isferg was glad to hear heavy footsteps all around him, falling silent after a few moments, being sure whoever was coming couldn't possibly attack him, and survive he settled down to waiting.
Out in the city many stopped there work to watch the approaching force, the half completed wall forgotten for the moment.

Hiranna wasn't sure whether to be mad or touched and a mixture of both played across her face. She was, of course, touched that Konar valued her so much, even if only for her ability, and mad because. . . Well, just mad. A healer's job was to put their life on the line to help others! How could he expect her to go against that?
So entangled in her emotions, Hiranna didn't notice the approaching soldier right away. When she did see him, she turned her head to make sure Konar was still there. Confirmed of his presence, she slowed Snowhare until she was riding slightly behind him. She wanted to make sure there was no confusion about who the leader was.

Konar urged his horse forward at the sight of the approaching soldier, and he made his way through the front line of his own men as they came within speaking distance. He rode with his hands held out and raised, open palms out to show he was unarmed, trying to appear friendly even if he didn't smile. Only another mage could see how his fingers were held, making the sign of a spell being held at the ready. " I am Konar," he announced. " I have come to speak to the leader of this city."

The solider simply nodded. "He awaits you in the meeting hall, please follow me." With that simple statement the soldier turned and began to lead them through the winding streets towards the large manor at the center of the city.

Konar's eyes darted around the city as they were lead inside, though he kept his head still as if looking nowhere but straight ahead. The half finished wall around the city was impressive, and spoke loudly of the new leader's intentions, he was making this place a stronghold.

Inside the procession through the city, Hiranna kept her eyes firmly on Konar's back. If he were going to try something he probably wouldn't do it until he met the lord of this city, but being inside a practical fortress of someone who's intentions might be against their's was making her antsy. The only thing keeping her from making a break for the exit was the fact that she would not make it without someone to help her. She wondered if the soldiers were as antsy as she was.
Keeping her eyes on her leader and waiting for any hint of action, she continued following Konar.

They were lead through the main entrance to the manner, down a very wide hallway and then through double doors into what Isferg had declared the war room. Isferg ceased his impatient pacing as the great doors at the end of the hall opened, and his scout stepped forward introducing the man a konar.
"Your escort can wait outside." Isferg said the second the doors were opened.
He turned to face the newcomer, and potential enemy. Isferg had an intimidating presence in his armor, and he knew it, there was simply no doubt that he was the most heavily armored man in khalathir. It said much that he'd managed to obtain such heavy, high quality armor in such a place as Khalathir, that typically lacked such armor, let alone anything of high quality.
"your safe here." Isferg said. "My own laws forbid me form harming you until such time as you show hostile intent, or commit an illegal act." He explained. Isferg would've asked them to take a seat, if the room was not completely devoid of any seating.
( Hah.. so my chars a walking lighting rod.)

( And mine is a walking lightning storm ...sucks to be your guy ) " Of course," Konar replied calmly. " You would not object if I wished to bring my two advisors inside however?" He motioned to Hiranna and the strongest of the mages he had brought, Aldun, an aging, stooped man who used a cane he really didn't need. The only hint of the man's power was a sharp gleam in his eyes that spoke of danger. " We are all unarmed, unless you count an old man's staff..." Konar eyed Isferg critically. He had a huge presence in his armor, and would have been a tough nut to crack even for a decent mage. Konar however, had to stifle a small smile at the thought of how well all that metal would conduct a good blast of lightning. He succeeded by taking into account that he was just as unprotected to Isferg's weapons as the the man was to Konar's, and he was in the middle of the new lord's city, and rather outnumbered.

Hiranna stepped cautiously into the large room with Aldun. She wasn't sure how the two leaders were taking to each other and didn't want to do anything that might upset the balance. They still seemed to be sizing each other up. She wondered whether the man in the armor would see Konar as any kind of threat. Compared to the other, Konar seemed a child.
When Hiranna and Aldun reached an appropriate distance from Konar, they stopped. Hiranna was to Konar's left and behind while Aldun was right and behind. A curtsy came from Hiranna and, taking her lead, a bow from Aldun.

Isferg merely nodded to the request that the mans advisor's attend. He smirked at the display of reference from his advisor's. "I'm Isferg ruler of this city, and most of the land between here, and the Kern river. I must admit I'm puzzled as to why you'd travel to my city." Especially with such a small escort, he's basically put his head on the chopping block, and had Isferg been any other ruler in Kalathir the man would likely be coming to regret that right now.

" I came because of you," Konar said, getting right to the point. " As you say, you are ruler here, but that is a rather new thing. New lords make people nervous until their intentions are known. Nervous people can be hasty people, and hasty people often make poor choices. I am here to see the new lord and return to my town, Dalnor, so that I might make sure no one makes any poor choices."

"Dalnor..." it took isferg a few moments to recall the location of the town. "Now that will be a problem, while you have a force stationed there I've no choice but to keep my army here to guard this city. Quite inconvenient."

Konar studied Isferg for a moment, he felt certain he knew the man somehow, but he had no idea how or why. " And where would you send your army if you could? You've barely just taken over here and yet you're about to pack up your forces and go? Do you see me as a threat, and should I look at you the same?"
