Inside of the dragonfly bag was a stone, shaped and pointed into an spear head. It wasn't until Krenaian pulled it out that he noticed it was almost clear, the light passing through it as if it was made of ice, yet it was warm, not cold. It was heavy for its size, and it's edges were perfectly straight and thinner than any he had ever seen. It looked sharp enough to cut flesh by touch alone.

Following Krenaian's lead, Coda kneeled in front of her rock. She stared at the pouch for a while, unsure what could be inside. Ideas shifted through her head after seeing Krenaian's spear head, but none of them seemed to make sense. Closing her eyes, she lifted the bag into her lap and opened it.

Vinanti was quiet, holding herself upright with her chin lifted high. She was a regal looking woman in the flickering light. She approached her totem, skin still crawling with the terror of the cave. The image of her guardian was etched into the dark totem, she couldn't quite tell if it were wood or stone. She fell to her knees with a painful thud, not bothering to brace the fall with her hands. The small leather bag sat before her, an entity to be revered. She prayed quietly, setting her hand against the bold forehead of the carved coyote.
"I thank you, great noble spirit, for this blessing. I am unworthy and I hope I can at least serve you in the few ways my feeble mortal flesh is able." Drawing her hand away, she leaned forward and planted a kiss at the statue's base, lifting the soft sack into her hands.
Her fingers rubbed against the object inside, hoping to make out its form. Without success in that matter, she tentatively slid her forefinger into the mouth of it, loosening it before opening it entirely.

From the bag, Vinanti pulled out a carved wooden flask, fit snuggly in a leather holder, with a coyote tooth stopper. It was of plain make, but done with expert skill, a perfect teardrop shape and the leather holder fit it as tightly as skin. The stopper fit perfectly, yet it came loose with ease and a flowery scent drifted from the opening. The pain in Vinanti's knees from her fall vanished with the smell.

(Wow...sorry, I guess my brain went on vacation for a moment, I have no idea how I missed that post...sorry)
The bag in Coda's lap opened to reveal five round stones, engraved with the symbol of the deer. The stones were blood red, and were perfectly round balls, smoother than any rock she had ever touched. The symbol of her totem in each seemed almost to be carved under the surface somehow, and they glowed dimly from within the bag.

Krenaian examined the spearhead with a care that only a warrior could show. He noticed that it was cut to fit his spear perfectly. To test the sharpness, he held one of the long hairs on his head out and slowing brought the spearhead closer. Almost before it touched, it seemed, the hair was cut. There was no effort to cut, and Krenaian had not seen the hair actually touch the spearhead. "The spirits truly have done great work" he said with a smile. He then looked to the shaman for guidance on what to do next. Then he was startled a bit. "Where's Aiyana?" He thought for a moment that she might have been the form he saw earlier, but he prayed it was not so.

Vinanti closed her eyes to the sweet aroma rising from the flask. Delicately she pressed her tongue to the lip of the bottle, hoping to determine by taste what this marvelous medicine would be. A tingling warmth consumed her body, but the sense that filled her mouth was hardly identifiable. With a mother's tender care she stopped the container and refitted the soft bag over it. Holding the sacred artifact to her breast she looked up to the elder, unsure of what use her treasure had.

The shaman grunted a reply to Krenaian's question, not really answering it but letting him know it was heard. The holy man continued to stare at the black opening that lead into the main cave, waiting to see if Aiyana would find her way. He scratched at his chin in a nervous fashion, the quest was already so desperate, if they were to lose one of the chosen already... He glanced at the bag bearing the hawk totem, thinking hard. Surely, the gift would not have been made if she was not even destined to claim it...

Aiyana watched the bag in front of her for a few moments, studying its outside and realizing the significance of the item inside it. Very carefully, almost lovingly she picked up the bag, slipping out the contents of it.
"This is it... I hold my destiny in my hand... together we will do this." She thought, with an small smile as she took out the totem.

The shaman nearly let out a sigh of relief when Aiyana finally appeared from the darkness to claim her gift, but he caught himself. It wouldn't have been proper for a man in his position to show worry.
From the bag, Aiyana pulled out a length of bowstring like none she had ever seen. It was amazingly light, weighing no more than a strand of hair, and it held a soft, golden glow by the cave light. It was perfectly sized to fit her bow, Aiyana was sure of it without question.
As the last of the spirit gifts were received, the shaman stood up as tall as his crippled body allowed. With a soft murmer of words he begged the totems to bless and protect the four chosen, and to guide their path. "This is our tribe's greatest test!" he suddenly boomed, and the rock around them seemed to shake with the force of his voice. " Our very right to live and walk the world is being tested, our right to all we claim as ours is at stake!" His one eyed stare swept the four like a wave of fire. " You take this test for all of us," he finished in a whisper. " For our sake, I pray you are up to it..."

Aiyana clutched the bowstring in her hand and nodded firmly as the shaman spoke, his voice almost deafening in the silence of the cave. For everyone's sake... they had to do this. They had to be able to defeat this evil that plagued them.
"We can do this..." She whispered, though the sound almost echoed around them.

The sun was high and the air already hot when the chosen four began their journey. The morning had been spent in preperation; supplies had been stuffed into bags and sacks, the shaman had held a short cerimony to bless the four, goodbyes had been said. The route stretched out before them, the long grassland before the Deep Forest, half a day's walk away. Then there was the forest itself, and none could say for certain how long that would take to cross. No one went into the forest, it was a place of spirits and monsters according to the tales the shaman told. It was only a need for haste that put their path through those trees, it could take weeks to travel around. After the forest rose the Spineback Mountain, once the tallest of the peaks of the range. Now it was no taller than any of the other mountains, it's top still smoking from where the star had struck it. Beyond that...no one, not even the shaman, knew what to expect.

(Yeah, you have all your stuff. It was a time jump, I figured it would be a little dull to have to walk everyone back out and have them get dressed and go to bed. )
