~Isra stood quickly. "Idiot," she muttered. "You know, laying on the side of the road probably wasn't the best decision you could have made." She flipped her red hair to the side. "By the way, who are you? And what the hell happened? You look like the goddess herself decided to use you as a punching bag."

Kaine grunted a but, putting a hand to his side. "I had an unfortunate run in with a building." He looked up at the red-head, raising a brow. "I should be asking what you're doing poking at bleeding men you chance across." With some difficulty he got back up to his feet, leaning backwards to ease some pain in his back. "A lot of bandits use that sort of tactic to lure in good Samaritans, you know."

As Aueron progressed along the path, he couldn't help noticing that there were another pair of feet doing the same not too off from where he was. Filling with curiousity again, he forced himself to look on in that direction, noticing a traveler about the same age as he was walking off the road rather than on it--and by the looks of it, it didn't seem like he ever cared if the road was there or not.
What the hell... Aueron's eyes narrowed to himself, These roads are here for a purpose... they're patroled by guards periodicly. Out there you have to worry about bandits and Goddess knows what kind of demons and creatures are living out there... That's when it struck him that the traveler he was watching was heading in the same direction the explosion came from--he was going to go see for himself what was wrong! d**n it!--"Hey you!" Aueron yelled out to Iro, "You shouldn't be off the roads like that! It'll be the death of you!"
Idiot... people could be so blinded by either curiousity or confidence to not realize the dangers that were ahead. There was no town for a while out there--and if there was, it was all but destroyed by the light now. In a rocky terrain like this, one would tire and grow hungry very quick, not to mention that it was dreadfully easy to become lost or the fact that the light itself might have a poisonous field of gas or other fatal agent around where it appeared; all considering he wasn't eaten alive by a pack of wild monsters or stabbed and looted by thieves.
Funny... because Aueron had been blinded just the same a while back right after he left home. It was the last time he was too.

After he had been walking for a while, Iro heard a voice call to him. Muttering darkly under his breath about distractions, he scuffed his shoe on the ground below to mark the direction he had been going and turned to face the disembodied voice. Was everyone going to try and stop him today?
A swordsman appeared to be walking down a road that had come close to him. To Iro, that meant he must have some knowledge of where the roads led and, furthermore, that he could give Iro directions. If he was willing. He began closing the distance between them and, when he was close enough for a polite conversation, he said, "Can you give me some directions?" He tried his best to keep his tone conversational despite the fact that the man had come close to mocking him before.

"Directions to where? Don't change the subject..." Aueron's eyes narrowed at the traveler ahead of him--he didn't like to talk to people in the first place, but especially when they made him repeat himself over. Moreover, there was only the one road the lead between the town and the port at the coast.
"Why were you off the road like that? Do you have some sort of deathwish or something--or are you really that stupid?" the young swordsman went on as though he were scolding a younger sibling--despite the fact that they were the same age.
((sorry for the short post, writer's block spike :\))

~Isra stepped back. "I...uh..." her voice trailed off. The man had a point. She was fortunant that he wasn't a bandit, or worse. Isra shook her head. "That's an interesting way to thank someone trying to help you," she muttered.
Sighing, she reached back into her bag. "Here. At least let me help you."

"You scold me, I scold back!" He shrugged in a nonchalant fashion. He tilted his head looking at her bag. "You really don't have to, medical supplies are expensive and I don't have much I can pay you with unless you have a burning desire for a Jacob's Ladder."

The black horse under him galloped foreword quickly, hooves clapping against the stone cobbles of the road, spurred on by the sharp kick of Aeron's heels. He ducked his head down, decreasing the wind resistance as the beast sped on. Behind him he could hear the faint calls of the owner of the stallion he had just stolen from, a gleeful grin spreading over Aeron’s stubble covered face. Close behind was Bane, who to Aeron's annoyance was joining him on this "mission". Bane had had the brilliant idea that the light had something to do with Saloria and that by investigating would aid their goal. So now the werewolf was stuck with Bane, who had relished in Aeron’s discomfort by ordering him around as much as possible. Pressuring his authority over the man who hated him so much. “We’ll have to find some people on the way!” Bane called, riding along side Aeron on his shorter, brown horse. “There must be others heading to the light as well.” Aeron shook his head angrily. “You chose this mission Bane, and you don’t even know where the d**n thing even came from?” All the while as the steeds approached the gates blocked by guards Aeron kept running the thoughts of escape through his head. “As soon as his back is turned, he’ll wish he never had this stupid idea.” Aeron thought to himself delighting in the thought of freedom.
A group of guards raised their hands to tell the pair to stop. Reining their horses to a stop Bane dismounted and approached the guard. “Where abouts are you two headed then?” The guard asked suspiciously, eyes looking over at the half drunken and battered man still on his horse. Bane cleared his throat to draw the guards attention, “We’re off to the next town, too many bad things happening here. Mine brother can barely sleep a wink!” The guard nodded and was thoughtful for a moment, looking to the other guards for support on his judgement. The wait was becoming too much for Aeron to handle, and when it looked as if they were going to be refused the guard turned back to face them and nodded for them to go through. Barely holding in a sigh of relief Aeron trotted his horse through the gate, Bane following. Abruptly there came a faint noise of distress behind the two, as people were being pushed apart along with the shouts of “Thief! They’ve stolen horses! Stop them, thief!” Without a look back the pair spurred their horses into a gallop and raced away from the exit of the city as fast as their stallions would carry them.

~Isra smiled. "Money is not a concern. You don't have to pay me." She pulled out a small tube. "This is a new type of medicine that is said to help minor cuts and scrapes heal faster" She was about to apply it to him, but realized that it was a bit improper, especially since she didn't even know his name. "I'm Isra." she stated, handing him the tube. Isra thought about his earlier comment. "You're a craftsman, are you not?" she asked.

"A bit of one." He tentatively took the vial. "Sometimes you have to learn skills to help yourself survive. Really I can only make weapons and a few odd toys that I learned my whittling with." He pulled a cork out with his mouth, spitting it out after it was removed. "And you're sure its okay if I use this? Once I put it on you can't make much use of it."

~Isra nodded. "Yes, it's fine. I've got a bit more left in my bag anyway." Isra sat down, knees bent, feet beneath her. She watched carefully as the man applied the medicine. He was interesting, to say the least. 'I wonder if he's headed toward the light, too?' Then, she smiled. 'Of course he is. What else would he be doing out here?'
"Say...just out of curiosity...you wouldn't happen to be able to whittle...animal shapes...would you?"

"Some. I guess it depends on what." He winced, sucking air in between his teeth as he pulled out a good sized piece of glass before putting on some of the medicine. "d**n, woman, this stuff stings! Whats in it? Isn't medicine supposed to fix the burning?" Despite the fact he was a grown man, Kaine had issues with his pain threshold.

~Isra shook her head. "I never said it wouldn't sting a little. But that means it's working. Don't worry, it will stop soon."
Isra sighed. "But anyway, I was just wondering if maybe you could do a wolf?" Isra knew how stupid it must sound, but at this point it really didn't matter. "If you could do that, I would accept that as payment, and then we'd be equal."

Used to being talked down to, Iro didn't immediately respond to the other man's rebuke. Interrupting a person in the middle of talking was a good way to lose face. A lot of points and insinuated accusations had been made in just a few sentences and, not knowing how to respond, Iro simply began ticking his own points in response off on his fingers. "Directions to the light, I'm not changing the subject, I was off the road because I don't know exactly where I'm going and the roads only confuse my sense of direction, I don't have a death wish, and I'm not stupid." Taking a deep breath after a long run-on sentence, he continued, "With that said, quit looking down your nose at me!" Getting mad wasn't saving face either but, hey, he got his point across.

"A wolf? Hm. That's a bit more complicated than I'm used to... I should be able to handle it though." He paused, grimacing as he rubbed the salve into a deeper wound. "H-ha..." Despite the flush in his face and the sweat matting down his hair from the pain, Kaine managed to look up to his rescuer with a grin. "Besides, I've never been able to say no to a pretty girl."
