Iro felt a twinge of envy for Isra. 'Money to last a while...from her parents'. His parents had always kept him busy as a child and since leaving there it was either going from one town to the next, working, or looking for work.Grinning stupidly, Iro imagined what life would be like without money, just for a second. He shook his head, straightened his face, and said, "Interesting, huh? Interesting and exciting usually bring trouble with them." It didn't sound quite right after he said but he went on anyway. "I'd prefer a good nights sleep to 'interesting' any day.'

~"Interesting is what I live for" Isra murmmered. "I can hardly stand it when life is boring. There's just nothing to do." But then, she remember something. "But security is always a good thing, too. If something was interesting, but also very dangerous, I'd probably stay away." She smiled at the thought. "Though, with danger comes excitment." She shrugged. "Guess I'm just one of those people who is too bored with her own life to stay in one place, you know?"

"Yeah. I guess some people have too much 'interesting' and want less and other people don't have enough 'interesting' and want more." There was a thought in the back of Iro's mind as he said that that he couldn't quite make out. "I always feel pushed here and there like a game piece; I'd take danger every day if I thought I chose it myself." If it were only that simple. He thought back to how this conversation started and decided that if anything 'interesting' had happened recently, this took the cake. "We just have quirky personalities, I guess." He said with a broad smile.

~Isra laughed aloud. "Yes, I suppose so," she chuckled. "If only we could make our own choices," she said softly in a more serious tone. "But we can't...not really...in the end, all of ours "decisions" are based on our experiences. The real determiner of our paths is life itself." Isra grinned. "Sorry about that. Didn't mean to go all philosiphical on you there. Guess alchol will do that to a person."

A very manly pout flitted across Kaine's face. The smell of warm bread and sweet mead was overwhelming. The gears in his imagination creaked into action after some misuse, trying to concoct a clever 'eat and run' scheme. That didn't prove very fruitful. Alas he'd have to endure with a stomach only partially full and sober, both of equal evil.
"Best to look on the bright side, at least I'm indoors for a storm." He muttered. The elf slipped one piece of lumber from the table and set it upright firmly between his feet. He ran his long, calloused fingers over the block slowly, examining its constitution. He dipped his finger into a slight pit, examining it with his hand for some time before spinning the wood around to take a look. He frowned and reached for his knife, gripping the lumber with his knees to hold its place. Using its dull, matte blade, he hacked away a section of his proverbial marble, digging out the imperfection he had discovered moments before.
The man appeared absorbed in this activity, moving inch by inch, flaw by flaw down the material, hacking away the cracks and weak points that could potentially ruin another attempt at a longbow. However his ears were pricked and alert, listening to the room for some interesting tidbit of information. Primarily he was hoping to overhear some woman crying about a freshly failed relationship. That would be convenient. The best he got was the slightly drunk Isra, but she seemed to be taken at the moment.
He frowned all the more. At least he'll have a new weapon to speak for. That wasn't quite as fun, but a lot more useful.

Iro sighed slightly. The conversation had turned serious in a hurry. "Pity things aren't as they seem sitting here, talking about them." Life itself determines the path you take. But what was life itself? Iro shook his head. He had to stop being so serious and find a way to lighten up the conversation. "But still, it's better than talking about the weather right? No matter weird it's being right now." Iro made his smile come back.

~Isra grinned. "Yeah, I guess so. I hope it lets up soon, though. I really gotta find a place to stay tonight." She sighed. "You've been here a while. What can you tell me about the inns here? Are they any good?"

Surprised that someone would come to a tavern before finding a place to stay, Iro wondered if the inn he was "staying" at was full up or not. "I know there's an inn close by that I'm staying at but I don't know if they have rooms or not." He thought it only wise to leave out the fact that he was sleeping in the small room in the basement only large enough for a pallet and his few belongings. "I could show you there if you like."

~Isra stretched her arms above her head. "Yes, I would appreciate that. Hopely, they'll have an open room." Isra yawned. "I'm starting to feel sleepy. Hope the snow lets up soon. It's really not that heavy but....if the weather changes that quickly, I don't know if I trust it."

As Iro looked to the window he realized it was getting dark outside. He had wasted an entire day of looking for a job to talk to a girl. The odd thing was he just didn't feel guilty about it. There's always tomorrow he thought ruefully. He got up from the table and started heading for the door slowly. "I hope it gets warm as suddenly as it got cold. I'm not ready for winter yet." Reaching the door and opening it, Iro was met by the cold. He turned back to Isra, Coming?

~Isra lifted her bag from under the table, slung it over her shoulder, and stood, swaying slightly. She lifted a hand to her forehead. "My head is throbbing," she muttered, walking toward the open door. She walked out and muttered a quick "thanks" as he held the door for her. Snow crunched beneath their feet as they walked, Isra following unsteadily behind Iro. She ran her fingers through her red hair, annoyed at the fact that her hair was probably a mess. 'Oh well' she thought, 'it's not a surpirse.'
She shuddered slightly, the cold air getting to her. "Iro, please tell me this inn you're staying at is nearby."

Even though Isra was behind him, Iro could tell she more drunk than you would guess by her speech. He gave her a sidelong glance and said, "It should be close. Everything looks a little bit different in the snow." Returning his view to the front, he spotted it. Lifting a hand to point he said, "See, look. It's right there." Reaching the door first, he held it open for Isra.

~Isra stumbled in and headed to the counter. The youg woman behind greeted her offhandedly. Isra shrugged it off. "Do you...have any availible rooms?" she asked, realizing she had to concentrate very hard to get the right words out. The woman nodded, and gave her a key. "Room 4a" it read, though it took a bit for Isra to finally read it. She reached into her bag and pulled out a wallet, slowly counted out the money, and paid the woman.
Isra turned back to Iro, who had been standing behind her, probably to make sure she didn't pass out in the middle of the walkway. "I really owe you, Iro," she smiled. "If it hadn't been for you, I'd probably be passed out in the middle of that tavern, or god-knows-what. Thanks."
Isra was about to leave, but looked back. "If you ever need a favor, let me know," she grinned and winked. Isra stumbled off into the direction she hoped her room was in. Fortuantly, she guessed right, and soon unlocked the door, closed it behind her, and laid down on the small bed, asleep before she had time to set dow her bag.

Watching Isra stumble off, Iro realized how much worse she had become since they had left the tavern. She looked ready to vomit. Just another reason not to drink he reminded himself. Turning to go the way to his own room, if it could be called that, he found himself humming. He hadn't done that since he was a child. When he realized that the noise was coming from him, he forced himself to stop. Iro opened the door to the basement, went down the stairs and found himself facing his "room." Taking off his shoes before he went in, to avoid getting dirt on his pallet, he removed his sword, cloak, and over clothes and laid down. Thinking of his day, Iro realized just how many "interesting" things had happened that day. He felt as though he'd stepped into a maelstrom, feet firmly off the ground. His last that before he slipped off to sleep was, Tomorrow will be another interesting day.

~Early Morning of the Next Day, Day Two~ The night had still been cold, but nowhere near had it actually gotten to the chill of a real winter. The world constantly changes depending solely on what the so-called goddess up in the Shining Tower feels. Warmth... Joy... Jelousy... Pain... Sadness... Cold... Depressed... any emotion she feels soon engulfs the whole along with it, but it is a nessisary sacrafice to keep the world in-tact. Some say that without her, the world would collapse into fire and war until there is noone left to fight... that the planet would turn into a lifeless, barren void of shadows and silence. But Aueron's subconcious thoughts were soon interupted in the early morning--his sword and shield that were laid together at the foot of the bed in his room at the lodging house vibrated against eachother with in an unearthly frequence. Insantly, he rose out of bed, trying to shake off his sleepiness to find out what exactly was happening. Soon, it wasn't just his metalic weapons shaking, but objects in the room as well. Loose change, items in his ruck-sack, the lantern on the small desk next to his bed, and even himself. Quickly, the young swordsman raced to pull the rest of his clothing on, grabbing his weapons along the way. When he finally made it down the wooden stairs, he noticed that he wasn't the only one that felt the vibrating quake--many, if not all of the townsfolk, were out in the street trying to find out what was happening; even the town guards were dumbstruck. The wind blew harshly, and the sky was still dark because of a mix between black clouds filling the sky and the fact that the sun had barely moved over the mountains on the horizon. The snow from the other day had all but melted, leaving the ground cold, damp, and in some places frozen because of the chilling wind. Aueron pulled his cloak over his face, leaving only his eyes and hair sticking out of the fabric. As soon as he looked up from adjusting the green cloth around his face, he saw the cause of the problem... A large neon-purple beam of light rose up from the ground like a tower about twenty to thirty miles to the west (which, fortunatly to the believers of the myth, was the opposite direction from which Saloria's tower stood). Every second it grew and grew rapidly, spewing off massive flashes of lightning inhabiting the same color as itself, and lighting up the sky near its existance. The higher this light grew, the more violent the quaking and the wind became. Though it still hadn't been enough to cause any serious structural damage, a great number of the awe-struck citizens soon put aside their curiousity and began locking themselves back in their houses for protection. What the hell... were the only three words that crossed into Aueron's mind as he stood against the wind, straining his eyes to watch this freak of a lightshow. What is this... what is its purpose? Does this have something to do with the Goddess?Then... it stopped. The wind, the quaking, and the lightning. The beam of neon-purple still stood, towering over the rain-storm clouds, but at least it appeared to be stable. Faces appeared in windows, and people who had braced themselves against the wind stood straight once again. The light appeared to be only a straight line now, but the careful observer could have noticed that its brightness was intensifying. This light, this... magic, whatever it was, hadn't yet finished its course of action-- Explosion. Suddenly, the beam erupted into a fireball of the bright color; everyone seemed to flinch at that moment, but it was silent... sound traveled faster than light, and before anyone knew it, the shockwave had hit. Windows isntantly shattered, and a force of wind that would have been enough to knock down the biggest of men whiplashed through the town in which Aueron stood. It lasted only a split second, but just after was when all the screams began. Though, Aueron had barely heard the beginning of it--after the shockwave hit, he found himself blacked out due to falling and smacking his head off of a small boulder sticking out of the ground.
