Galius looked around, and quickly found what was doing damage to Maukri. More of them shooting those awkward weapons. No mages, as mages didn't even exist. Sure, magical or supernatural things were few and far between, but there was no hand waving chanting fools wandering around. That was science fiction. Galius quickly rolled to his side and fired and arrow, nailing a onlooker in the head. The remaining ones stopped detaching Maukri's armor and came for Galius, who rolled to his feet and felt the chance for his attack. Entering the phaseshift, he cut down all four men before returning to his original position. They fell to the ground as he took guard again from the onslaught of arrows.
Phaseshifting wore him out, and he reminded himself of what he knew doing it too often could do to him. He didn't plan on spending eternity in a timelocked world. He looked out over the side of the building as the remaining men scattered and the woman he had nearly killed escaped. She would no doubt warn Warric now, who would take this problem much more seriously. Galius gritted his teeth, how much he wanted to cut out Maukri's throat right now.
He threw his hat to the ground as they escaped and put his bow over his shoulder, pulling his blades and walking right over to Maukri. He stared right at her and fought back the urge to cut her head off. Spitting on the ground, he sheathed his blades and moved to inspect the corpses of the nearby men. There wasn't much on them, except for a few knives and such, and thier weapons were awkward. It was a set of knives attached to self-retracting strings, but it seemed that they had to pull on them for it to work. It was an interesting contraption. Nonetheless, Galius stood up and walked over to his hat, placing it back on his head and looking to Karsten and Carella, he purposely ignored Maukri, and started walking. He wouldn't give her a second chance. If that arrogant woman did something that stupid again, he would take her head...

In the meantime, Maukri had cut down several more nearby her. The razor-sharp edge of the paper-thin, feather-like steel blades emanating from the edges of her bow disemboweled them with one swipe each. As she watched Galius, however, something seemed eerily familiar about how he moved... at least until he disappeared in an instant. The movement shocked even her, whom had been used to the supernatural speed of other species in war and adrenal rushes. Still...
Until he left the raging rush, she couldn't even follow his movements. He must've been going at least twice as fast as a normal human- no, even more than that. By the time she knocked herself out of her self-induced lag, he was in front of her, and she returned the gaze. He had, after all, been the one who had walked them right into the middle of the trap, nearly killed a source of information, and now he was blaming it on her? Maukri still worked like the old soldier she was, and killing only came after one had the information they wanted...
Standing up, she broke the head off the arrow that had pierced her leg, then pulled it out. Some splinters were left, but nothing she wouldn't recover from. Still, she was no fool to blurt out her accusations against Galius; her mouth stayed shut, even as she brushed herself off. Tearing the broken armor off, she felt fairly vulnerable, but still there wasn't any reason for her to make more. If they were going to their deaths, then what was the point? Besides, it would only slow them- and her- down unnecessarily, not to mention that materials were impossible to find. No, she didn't need it, since it obviously wasn't helping her now...
Carella had been watching quietly, and killed the occasional nitwit that ran by her. She didn't feel like fighting unless it became necessary, and she silently agreed with the notion that Galius was letting this whole thing get to him just a bit much. The way he was, he would be killed within seconds against a freak like Warric, his mind clouded in anger and hate. And even if he did kill him, how were they to know Galius wouldn't turn into a shadow of his brother? Already, he was showing signs of the same psychotic sadism that Warric already obviously had, and it seemed that only a little push in the wrong direction would set him off... at least, it seemed that way. Reality and perception are oftentimes two very different things...
*hope this works >.<*

In the frustration brought onto him by the annoying woman tagging along like a spoiled child whose parents needed to whip her, Galius thought of something that, while costing him time, would be an interesting situation. He turned around and leaned on a wall, waiting for Maukri to take control, considering that was what she was fighting for, control over everything. He was annoyed enough with her attitude, and the fact that she raised a weapon to his back, something that should have resulted in her death, went unpunished... well... He was going to see just how much she could prove herself.
A smirk on his face, he looked back at the group as he leaned against the wall of a nearby building and waited, he could see the cocky nuisance, and how disapproving she was of anything he did, and rather than just kill her, he'd make a fool out of her.
He smiled, knowing the action would be much unlike him, the man who never stopped for a second when it wasn't needed. This arrogant, childish woman needed to know her place, and it wasn't talking, it was sitting in the back and firing an arrow if need be. That was the problem with people, always too loud to realize what needed to be done, running their mouth too much and saying things that shouldn't have been said. If they shut up for a minute, they might know better how things worked, and might stay alive. She spent too much time in the hospital to realize when she needed to be quiet.
Oh humanity, how pathetic it really is, every person thinks they know whats right, and rather than proving it through actions, they run their mouths and waste time, waste effort, waste lives...
So, the punishment would be her humiliation, because he had an idea what the next move should be... did she?

Karsten was watching the fight below, waiting to jump in to help his companions. His head snapped as he saw Galius appear and reappear. The flash of energy he had seen around him then hadn't just been his mind playing tricks then. He was a warper of some kind, there was no other explanation. He definitely couldn't move so fast so as to escape his vision. After all he saw the energy as well as the flesh.
His arm was healing fast as he the demon realized that the being he had just leeched had a power that was supposed to be used up in a short duration. He suddenly got up and turned just in time to find the one that had escaped about to rip his throat to shreds. Karsten moved sideways, the poisonous claws embedding themselves in his shoulder. He let out a loud growl rather than a shout this time which surprised even him. He took hold of the creature's neck as it tried to swing its other arm, and snapped it like a twig, the swinging hand falling to the side limp before it reached him.
Karsten was about to throw the being away but the demon reminded him of the poison or disease it might have released in the body and went to work. He began absorbing again, but not the energy he did always. This time it was the corruption that kept this creature safe from what it infected with. It worked, as the dark energy mixed with the poison that would have turned Karsten's body into a lifeless doll in a few minutes. Just as the effect was left, it went away.
Throwing the skeleton away after leeching all that the body could give, Karsten jumped down and landed in front of Carella, looking around he saw the scene and was surprised for a moment before he saw the smile on Galius face and understood. It was the silent treatment, something Galius was really good at.

Maukri growled as the others and she passed by Galius, who's face she had to withstrain from slapping right then and there. Whatever it was that she had seen back there, she didn't think even her quick reactions would mean a thing to such a monster, which was exactly what Galius was; a monster just biding its time for now. And now, his little plan to "punish" her was to force her to the front to lead, the very thing she was trying to avoid. He thought she was arrogant?! Well, apparently she wasn't alone anymore...
Fine then, she would play along until the appropriate time came. Maurkri was already up with her guard the instant she stepped forward, eyes and ears already scanning the horizon, as she'd be one of the firsts to notice anything out of the ordinary. Or, perhaps now, one of the lasts, given the heightened state that the two half-breeds were almost always in, which actually made her feel worse for certain reasons of which she didn't feel like discussing.
And rather than doing so, she moved forward, mind focused and every step measured down to how her toes moved. This complex act had been hardwired into her head many years before, and now it was showing. The next few days would be restless, continuous, and harsh, and the thought that any of them could die at any time kept Maukri focused on finishing off this whacked-assed cult so they could all go back to what they had been doing before, even if it was sitting around all day wasting life behind a beer stein…
*you people are never happy -.-" *
Carella certainly didn't like how things were going, but she kept her trap shut. Things were progressively getting worse, and she began fearing for her mistress's life, even though she now owed the woman nothing. If this insanity continued- as it most likely would- it wouldn't just be her dying...
Slinking to the rear, she purred quietly as she nuzzled against Karsten, who smelled less human with every passing moment, that among other things quelling her urge to simply use him as her next meal. Even as she merely held his arm, everything seemed so much less of a hassle than before, that light, fluttery feeling returning to her. In such a world, things like this made life worth living once more, if only for a little while... Even so, her eyes continuously darted to the shadows with every step; her guard may have been lowered in those moments, but she was by no means asleep at the switch, prepared to transform at a moment's notice to save herself and those two in the group whom she gave a sh*t about...

((lol, if it hurts you to post, let me know swytch, you sure to like to complain, I didn't say anything )) Time passed quickly as the group continued their trek toward the old stronghold. They had covered good ground on little rest, and very little food, and since the last incident, they hadn't seen a pale soldier, the behemoths, or anything of the sort. Nothing, the streets were dead, like a ghost town. The thought ate at the back of Galius' mind that Warric was watching their every move through Karsten, and the thought crossed it to turn around and cut him in half. Quickly as if the thought was poison, Galius shook his head. The two demons, as much as they might bother him, had grown on him, and he actually enjoyed their company, even if it only proved what remained of his humanity died with Bernie. AS the night rolled toward them, Galius smelled a scent faintly familiar, and in this massive city, faintly familiar meant get out of sight. Maukri, too new to the group to catch on, was pulled aside in an alleyway before she could continue. Nodding the group over he had his hand on Maukri's shoulder, one finger in the air, telling her to shut it. He moved from them and rolled out into the open to the other side of the street. He dusted his hat off and placed it back on his head, poking his nose out among the trash and rubble, so as to see without being seen. In the middle of the street lay a severed hand, and further up a foot. He had no idea what was going on, but he stayed put, for the thought of the trap those things set earlier was fresh on his mind. He told the others to stay hidden because they were all too loud, the demons were too insane to do anything with subtelty, and Maukri was in armor, which might as well scream come kill me. Galius moved slowly, inching forward in the cover of the darkness and rubble. He blended in so well that it was hard to see him. Before long, he came upon more body parts, and then strewn by her own weapons, was the head of the woman from before, the woman carrying Warric's child, hanging in the middle of the street. But that smell... this was a trap. Below him was a rat, crawling through the trash, when he grabbed it and threw it out into the open, it squealed and ran before being stepped on by one of the rotting behemoths that had lept from cover in a nearby alleyway. The stench washed over the area like a skunk who walked into the room. It thickened the air, and before long the creature realized its error and went back to hiding in a back alley. The thing that bothered Galius was the increased speed of the monsters, and their ability to jump, That thing got to that rat quickly, too quickly for anything they'd faced before... Galius moved back slowly to the others, not letting them know what he had seen, the problem with where Maukri had led them was that it was a street of apartment housing, there was no way to get side to side, there was only two ways to go, ahead, or back... Galius shook his head. The sight of the woman's head would surely aggitate the already easy to upset Maukri, the demons, he never knew. Galius quickly stopped the thought. Why did he care? Was he going soft? The thought of feeling empathy for any human sickened him. Empathy made you weak, made you let down your guard... it was why he still lived. "Smell that?" he said to the others in a low grumble, his voice hardly above a whisper. He knew they'd understand. He looked back to see what they'd think about fighting. His mind game with Maukri would have to wait. The long walk without rest might have been too much, and if that were the case, things were about to get a lot uglier. If they had to wait it out, that stench would prove difficult to sleep through. Galius pointed at a door to a nearby abandoned apartment, and then to the alleyway, and then shrugged. It was up to them, because although he was tired, he wasn't too tired to fight...

As they walked quietly he looked around, not saying what he saw. There were a lot more creatures swarming around them, but never coming close enough to be seen by anyone except through his eyes. It almost seemed they knew he was watching. It seemed they had fought through the demons to the level where the others were now afraid of them. He didn't know whether that was a good thing or not. For now, it was the only good they could hope for.
He frowned slightly, but kept walking as he saw the dimly glowing body of the woman who they had met earlier. He pursed his lips as he saw something that seemed, unnerving. The child was still alive inside her, feeding of the energy of the dead body. He was thankful the others couldn't see this. He clenched his hands to avoid reacting. He hoped his human side would die soon so he didn't have to feel such things.
He followed Galius and spoke as Galius questioned them. "I see them. If we decide to fight, we will not get a chance to come back for anyone that falls behind. There are way too many, more than you can think of. This is one of the last ambush between us and your brother it seems." He looked at the or rather past it and turned to the others before speaking in the same calm tone, "Its the same in the other alley past the door." He looked back the way they had come. He nodded towards it and spoke, "That way will be closed soon." They were trapping them in.

Maukri didn't exactly like being pushed around, but since she was tolerating enough already, it was probably best just to let this one slide too. And now that they were being surrounded, it wasn't like she was going to be straying far from the group. All this, because Galius had walked them straight into a trap. She was beginning to wonder who's side he was on...
The smell that lingered horribly long didn't quite set off all the alarms in her head. It wasn't until she heard the massive thump that Maukri nearly jumped out of her seat, which happened to be a rather fresh stump that sat nearby. She had been taking the opportunity to peacefully clean up the joints and such in the armor that she wore, but that noise said a lot... First of all, whatever it was, the thing was big, due to the heaviness of the thump; second, it was fast, possibly improbably swift for its size, due to the volume of the step. Dropping the plate, which she caught with one foot, the bow was off her shoulders and in her hands with an arrow in a split second before she realized that whatever 'it' was, 'it' wasn't moving in their direction... yet.
Sighing, she knew that parting with her beloved armor was a necessity now, and by the time Galius had come back, the metal plating laid on the ground, neatly stacked and hidden beneath a sackcloth. Sacrifices would have to be made; Maukri had vainly hoped that this wouldn't have to be one of them.
Carella, on the other hand, knew that horrid stench intimately, and every hair stood on end as soon as it reached her nostrals... which was a good couple hundred feet sooner than Galius could have sensed. In fact, she had been edgy for the last few miles. Now, she had a reason.
When they were all ordered to stay in cover, she still stuck her nose out into the open against her better judgment, and growled when she smelled the woman... or rather, the rotting remains of her and that accursed bastard child. Another scent besides the ones already present was different; she couldn't identify it, but there were some guesses.
Finally, there were decisions to be made. And if what Karsten stated was true, then there was no point in sleeping here unless they really, really wanted to die in horrible ways... their only options were to either fight or sneak their way past. Taking a few minutes to weigh in their options, Carella looked up at a nearby building, and a fairly bright idea came to her mind... "Do you think they could jump that?" she asked, pointing to the nearby building. If Maukri would agree to play sniper, then their scrimmage could be that much easier. High ground plus experienced bowlady would equal better survival chances...

It seemed everyone had agreed to fight it out. THe problem was, while Carella's idea was great, if they weren't distracted, they would easily jump to those top spots and take them down. Galius cracked his neck, knowing he would be playing cat and mouse, and he was the mouse...
Galius put out his hands as a boost for them to get to the ladder that led to the rooftop. Once whoever was going up was up to the top, he turned to the alleyway, pulled his blades, and walked out into the open...

However much she hated it, Maukri took the opportunity with the boost, replacing the bow to her back as she did short hops before the one big push off, growling lowly her displeasure in needing 'assistance'; among this group of elites, she seemed to be the slowest, which was weird to her considering her job but she accepted the current reality nonetheless. Easily, her light body was hoisted up to the first rung, and after grabbing it, she pulled herself up rather quietly for having the amount of equipment on her. Like a snake trained in gymnastics, she slithered up, foot by foot, until she was near the top.
Rather than vaulting over, she pulled her body up and over in a sort of roll, attempting to reduce noise as much as possible before her feet touched the semi-solid roof. God only knew how out-of-shape the top of the building was, and how much it could support; either way could be a blessing and a curse. Taking care to keep low and move slowly and deliberately towards the other side in a crouched walk, Maukri listened with her sharper hearing, able to easily make out more than just the stench of her current adversaries; their breaths, the pitifully-masked stomps of impatience... every bit of information she heard, she remembered, as it might come to save her life later on...
Carella didn't bother with the roof for now. She knew Maukri's marksmanship and ingenuity was at its best when she was under pressure, as the young demoness had seen upon many occasions. Even with Galius' insane speed and whatnot, there was something almost... witch-like about Maukri. If she wasn't possessed by some demon that Carella could not sense, then she didn't know what it was...
Turning towards a different alley away from her mentor, she peered around the corner when she reached it, every nerve on the very edge of themselves as she began the transformation, even before she was attacked. There would be two diversions now; Galius, who could out-maneuver the creatures if it came to that with whatever freaking high he was on seemingly in the middle of some recent battles, and, at the very least, and Carella, who could out-muscle the freaks with sheer demonic strength.
Even these newest abominations were no match for a soulless half-demon, especially one who didn't quite know the limits of her own fully-blown powers yet. Very few things in this world were. Satisfied no longer with simply looking, she turned the corner and began casually walking down the stretch, seemingly as calm as the waters over a pristine lake; in truth, her skin was going to tear itself to shreds with anticipation of an interesting fight, something she had been forward to for quite a few days now. Without hardly knowing it, Carella was already putting the entire group at risk, simply by readying herself to unveil exactly what she was; if her mental judgment slipped even the slightest for a moment, the end result could be the end of them all...

Karsten stepped back a bit from Galius as he helped Maukri up to the roof. She was probably gonna be their weakest link. Now that he thought about it, that would be the case only if she got stuck. No, only if Carella went back for her. He had no problems leaving her behind. He had warned them about lagging behind already. If she had made the choice willingly, they that was it.
He called on the demon to take control. Karsten had begun to trust him enough to give him control voluntarily. Actually, they worked together. It was like two synchronized minds driving a single killing machine. He felt his claws extending themselves out as he stepped out of the shadows, his canines just a bit longer than that of a normal human, visibly so as he growled quietly seeing the way behind them close in the redness around them. It seemed everything
He nodded at Galius telling him that he was going to follow the man out into the open. There were few things that could touch him and not loose all the energy that his demon always seemed to be hungry for. He looked back at Carella and wished she would do fine. He then realized something. At this point, she was probably stronger than him from what he saw.

Galius shrugged and cracked his neck, pulling his blades and walking out into the middle of the street, clanging his swords against everything nearby to make as much noise as possible. Things were about to get ugly, and he wasn't about to waste any time with it and let the ones Karsten believed to be closing in get anywhere close. As a few of the massive behemoths lept into the air landing in front of them, he readied his blades and broke into a run, a few of the massive claws and legs tearing through rubble and kicking up dirt as they attempted to strike him. He lept and ducked most strikes, but before he could get close to one of the behemoth's body and weak spots, he was slammed aside by a forceful kick. He planted his hand on the ground and threw himself into the air, flipping and landing on his feet.
Turning, he picked up a trash can and hurled it up into the air, the creatures focusing on that for a moment. That was all he needed, he ran forward and struck at one in the stomach, pulling himself up and stabbing again, and again until he reached its chest, striking the heart and slicing the head clear off afterwards. As he landed on the ground, it was apparent that that attack had ended that creature, meaning that one of both of those attacks were a weak point for the creature. The chest seemed easier to defend, which is why Galius figured the new creatures held their weak spots there.
It is only natural that a creature that consists of multiple bodies would have some point where the fusion was poor. So it only made sense that the weak point would be moved to a place easier to defend. However, Warric again underestimated them, thinking that these creatures were any match....

Maukri, like any good sniper, was patient; with one of her specially-made arrows on the string, she just needed an open shot as she watched. Her eyes were also discerning, observing where Galius was aiming for and keeping watch for a moment to strike. It came soon enough; one managed to get behind him as he was attacking the first one, and after the doomed one fell, it lashed out with surprising speed. Still not faster than Maukri's arrow, however.
The bow hardly made a sound, the projectile sailing gracefully through the air before nailing the creature in the back. But it didn't stop there; a small, high-density lead weight just ahead of the feather barreled down the hollowed-out shaft, causing a distinct *thump* as hit struck the steel head, pushing deeper... but it didn't reach quite far enough, possibly stopping mere hairs from the weak point in its chest. She was about to fire a second arrow when another abomination landed just behind her, barely missing her head as she dodged out of the way and over the side, kicking back into a roll as she moved away. Whipping around with an arrow still notched, she yanked the string back faster than she wanted to and fired straight into the beast's chest, felling it quickly before moving on as more that had climbed up to the rooftops around her let out nightmare-inducing screams straight out of the tenth level of Hell...
One was foolish enough to jump Carella just as she was passing by... before it had even landed, a long spear-like limb lashed out from what had been her arm, impaling the freak and guiding its landing safely above and over Carella into a nearby building. There was no preventing it this time; bending over in severe pain as her new body beneath began tearing her skin apart, she threw her head back, unleashing the most terrifying scream this side of the Gates of Hades. Abruptly, the tiny bleeding cracks exploded open, tearing like a fleshy zipper all around her body, all the way up to her head, where they all met at the crown, tearing open like a bloody flower blooming at midnight to reveal something completely inhuman...
Slightly taller than a man and larger overall. Black, armor-like exoskeleton gleamed in the moonlight, symbols of red and white running along its surface. Three legs on a side, two more in the front that grew backwards as well. Where the midsection met the backside, black turned to bloody red, and a black hourglass could be clearly seen upon the slightly fattened abdomen with a ridge, much like a spine, which ran all the way up from there to the base of her skull. From the midsection forward, the body of a voluptuous woman with skin dark as twilight cascaded up, breasts exposed and hair replaced by pure-white silk which flowed beautifully around, practically floating to even the slightest movement change in the wind. Taunt face with blood-red eyes, black slits for pupils, purple lips, long frontal canines practically sparkling white, and ears pulled back. A touch of fur-ish substance all around, especially the "arms" and each of the six legs. Breath colder than the Arctic, eyes searching instantly for her next prey... this was the final form of the hybrid demon inside Carella: Jezebel, the Seducer. Looking around with her new-found eyes, an insane giggle started deep in her throat, but soon erupted forth for a moment before she could regain control of herself, spiders flowing all around her as they spread forth, summoned merely by her power.
"Alright then..." she started, grinning as she spoke somewhat to herself, eyes turning about as her next victim came into view, "lets see what this baby can do..."

Karsten was smiling as the first beast charged at him. He could see that the weak point had been changed to a more protected location in the chest. He was about to shout out but he could see that Galius seemed to have realized it on his own and was doing just fine. Carella had gone the other way so he couldn't see her but he knew she would probably tear her enemies to pieces and wouldn't need to worry about the particular spot.
He took a few quick steps forward and punched the beast on the side of the massive jaw, cracking the bone with the blow. He took a hold of the neck, his claws digging into the skin. He then slammed his other hand in the struggling body of the beast in the chest. As he pulled his hand out, it was covered in blood almost to his shoulder. He let go of the beast and moved onto the four that were right behind him. The beasts suddenly paused as he heard the scream that would have a chilled a common resident of this city to the bone.
He looked in the direction and realized it was where Carella had gone. A dread took over as he thought she had probably met something they hadn't seen before. He didn't concentrate hard enough or he might have been able to see the transformation by its immense energy pool. He took the opportunity to cut through the first beast but got slammed in the shoulder by a wild swing of the one behind it who had turned its attention back at him. He went flying and stopped a few feet to his right, making a crack in the wall he hit.
He growled with anger and ran towards the wall and did a flip back with his powerful leg. He bit the body of another beast. It was the beast's turn to loose the balance and fall, crashing into another. Karsten stood up and began sucking the life out of the two creatures, absorbing and using it for his own.

Galius' calculated attacks were quick and precise, he made sure not to waste any energy madly swinging, because unlike the demons, he hadn't the ability to endlessly rampage. So with each swing of the behemoths, with each strike from their massive limbs, Galius was countering with dodges and swift strikes. Even after he had felt like he had slain nearly twenty of them, they just keep coming, and he found himself surrounded. Looking around, he knew things were about to get ugly, and he had no choice. Finding the gray gap, he shifted, cutting down all the ones surrounding him before jumping on one as he exited the shift. On its shoulders, the creature yelped in confusion, meaning that they truly have emotion and feeling. Galius smiled as he rammed his blade in the things face and cut down to its stomach as he jumped from its shoulders. As it fell, he looked around at the dozens still standing.
He couldn't believe how many of these things there were. He was running out of energy. He was sweating badly, breathing heavily through the half-cocked grin on his face. He wasted no time catching his breath and charged the next loathsome monster...
