((This is a thread that died at my old place, was a great idea that snapped out of my head, but sadly it died when one of the major characters stopped playing. Hopefully with an active group we can keep it going? First post is a bit long. Lots of set-up!))
“God, someone help me! AHHHH!!!!!!!!!!”
The sound of screams rang out over the night like nails on a chalkboard. Such was life in Varamen. Cities that live in anarchy are only safe to those who can defend themselves. The blood spilled is more often than not that of the innocent. For those with no one to protect them, if they cannot protect themselves, life is a harsh, and short experience. This young woman was no exception. Behind her ran a crazed madman, blind with bloodlust, he ran after her with a horrid grin on his face, and a red eye tattooed to his forehead. She could only run for so long before her fate was written. The man overcame her, raped her, and then ate her.
In the recent months, a new problem arose in Varamen. For the most part, it was often a dangerous place, but never was the dangers there organized. Theft, murder, rape, it found its way into a city that lacked an organized government. A breeding ground for the dregs of society, some people had no chance, or will to leave. The only thing that protected them was the strength of their own arms, or the will of a few good men and women. Although, the righteous rarely lasted in Varamen. Such a place existed for the sole purpose of being a hellhole. Those who stood up to defend those who needed it, or to clean the filth from the populace, found themselves outnumbered, and eventually, slain.
But, the current events were nothing like normal. There was an organized group, which was rumored as being a cult, one that took pride in the worst atrocities that could be committed. And in a place like Varamen, finding recruits was easier than it should be. But still, for humans, elves, dwarves, all the races, to willfully rape, destroy, and cannibalize. Many expected there were forces at work, a cult, so to speak…
For most, Varamen was the only home they had, a city that was so vast that those who tried to see all of it would likely find themselves aged before they could. Getting out of Varamen was out of the question. The wilderness was at times more dangerous than the city itself, so only those brave, or stupid, souls who dared venture outside the walls did… None are ever heard from again, whether they escape and never return, or find their end in the wild, one can only guess.
But for every action of evil, every cult of the d**ned that rises from the dregs of society, there is an equal and opposite reaction of righteousness. Rarely in Varamen did this reaction amount to change, or to a step toward a civil society, but, there were those willing to fight for what remnants of good and right existed in the torn city….
Varamen, much like many other cities of the time, was run only by the strong, only by who could survive. But none had ever seen chaos such as this. Any place with enough order to build a wall at one point, and then lose that order... So, the few beings who tried to survive, tried to do good, or did the evil that corrupted the place so, were now those in control.
There was no room for error in this life, any lapse of judgement was room for the maniacs that lived in this place to take a life. That was why places such as Bernie's existed. A small pub with attached rooms that was safeguarded from the outside world. Only a few such establishments existed in the sprawling hell of this massive city. This one on the east side, Bernie's was run by Bernie Gertman, a old soldier, hard-nosed and tough as hell. He wasn't young enough to fight anymore, so he knew exactly who to go to.
The reasons for the chaos of Varamen to be left at the door were two men. One of them was Galius Vansen. Galius, a muscular, but skinny man, was known well in the area, and any person who didn't know him knew well not to cause trouble at Bernie's. Galius was quick as lightning, and ruthless as the monsters around the city. Bernie didn't know what to think of him, but he knew Galius was the type of man needed for the job. He could never tell if Galius fought because he wanted to, or because he was paid well. Galius was a mystery, not only to his employer, but to his co-worker.
Galius stood about 5'11'', weighing around 150 lbs. He was not large, but was very fast. Hanging at his waist were two longswords, and on his back was a longbow. He had a cowboy hat on his head that sheilded his eyes from the large firepit providing light in the middle of the room. The only thing that could be seen of his face was his rough stubble of his black beard. He was wearing a leather jacket, and a pair of black jeans, his shirt was a white cloth shirt, nothing someone would remember. He stood at the door, watching the room, and inspecting anyone that entered the place. Surprisingly, this bar was a place that many of the women in the area came, the safety from the hell of outside was nice, and in such a horrible existence, finding a "partner" for the night was something both genders were hunting.
It was a abnormal night, nobody of note had come through the door, a few regulars, and a few new faces, but it had been uneventful. Bernie walked to the end of the bar and looked over at Galius, who had yet to move all night.
"Slow night, eh Galius?" The old man with a gruff voice said.
"Yea..." Galius responded, the low pitch of his voice ringing out like a bell, and carrying across the room. Everyone stopped and looked over. The regulars knew Galius, but they never heard him talk, nor had Bernie. The shock across the room was shared by about half the room, the other half was confused. Bernie smiled and returned to making drinks, the fact that over the past year he had finally heard Galius respond was enough for him. But, the quiet of the night was broken when a pair of loud large men burst through the door. They were screaming laughing, before Bernie yelled out.
"Hey, you *ssholes better learn that this place isn't one for you to wander in like a bunch of common thugs!" Bernie howled.
The two looked up at Bernie, who pointed to Galius, who hadn't looked up. The two men laughed, and sat down, quieting down for the moment. Over the course of the night, they got slowly louder, until a woman at the bar caught their eye. She was a stunning blonde, and the two men reached over and grabbed her, already moving toward the door. But when they turned around, a blade was at their neck, and the fiery red eyes of Galius were staring right at them. The man without the blade to his neck grabbed Galius' wrist, twisting the blade away, only to find his hand severed by Galius' other arm, holding the other longsword. Pulling his arm free he slammed the blade into the neck of the first man, and the one with the woman in his arms let go of her. As she scrambled away, he backed up, staring at his friend who had fallen to the ground, the blade still lodged in his neck. The man pulled out a handaxe, and stared at Galius.
"You're gonna die tonight, skinny boy!" The fat man yelled. He lept forward, aiming to strike Galius with the axe, but before he could, a swift strike left his head rolling along the ground. Galius turned around, ripping his blade from the corpse below him, the spill of blood didn't even touch him, and he walked to the door, leaning in his old spot. Bernie looked over to Galius and shook his head. Of the two guards, Galius was the one who never gave anyone a second chance, which explained why more regulars came in on Galius' nights. Someone raised hell on Galius' night, and he was dead. Forman, the other guard, often made his point, and let the offender live.
The young boy from the back came out with a bucket and mop, and began to clean up the mess. Bernie threw the parts of the men outside, to show to others what happens to those that enter here with bad intentions.
The dull roar of the bar began again, as things returned to abnormal...

From the corner, a woman watched the display of death. She looked down at the blood that splattered onto her once-white nurse's dress, but she didn't really care anymore. The world had gone to hell in a particularly thorny handbasket, and she didn't really care. She just wanted to survive... the others at the hospital had abandoned her, and this was the first place she'd run to a few days ago... she wasn't even sure how long ago it'd been. Everything was blurred together in a massive parade of death as this city sunk into the depths of Hell itself...
Sighing, her silent yellow eyes followed the man back to his seat. She was curious, but not enough to actually do anything with it. Continuing to sit there, immaculate, Carella closed her eyes as she felt the blood that'd soaked through her shirt trickle down her breast. For some strange reason, it aroused her, the smell and taste of blood... Carella didn't quite know why, but it brought up something from deep within her, something almost primal in nature. Something she didn't want others finding out about...
*is anyone else going to join?*

((me, the lifeless one...))
Karsten was a hard man to miss. At 6"2' and weighing close to 175 lbs, he was noticed in a crowd even in a place like Varamen where people didn't even bother to look or care for the person standing next to them. Dressed in a perfect fitting black shirt and pants, he tried his best to merge with the darkness that seems to be everywhere in the city. He was looking down in front of him as he walked towards Bernie's place. This was the first time he had got the chance to visit it. He was usually working through the night but today, he just wanted to get back to the remnants of civilization that were left in the city.
He looked up as the door opened and a man came out, and threw some body parts right at him. He quickly moved aside to avoid being nailed by a hand right in his face. As the door closed, he looked down at the parts lying around on the ground in front of him. He just sighed and started walking towards the door again.
He had found out about the place before he decided to come. He knew of the rules and the guards. He respected the owner for it. He couldn't understand the mentality of some people who refused to do things even to help themselves.
As he walked into the place and looked around, he saw a man near the bar with swords hanging from his waist. He guessed this had to be one of the guards. He slowly made his way towards bar, careful to avoid bumping into anybody on his way, apologizing to any that he did. As he reached to bar, he took off the brown trench coat he had been wearing to hide the two axes hanging from his waist. As he folded the coat over his hand, he looked behind to see if anybody had noticed the weapons. Sure enough a few people had stopped eating and were looking at him nervously. He just smiled at them and turned around and raise his hand slightly to summon the bartender.
He looked down as he waited for the bartender to attend him and saw there was still some blood on his boots...

((Good deal, now at least we got two to work with!))
Galius looked up, watching the man who walked in, and noticing the weapons that pushed back his trenchcoat around the waist. Such a simple disguise was nothing he wasn't prepared for. He noticed how little the man intended to cause a problem, however, as he sat down and was oddly polite for Varamen. Such actions could be covering up his true intentions, or the man could just be crazy. Galius would keep his eye on him, but he wasn't a concern right now. He glanced around the bar, his eyes shielded by his hat. As another "couple" walked back to the inn connected to the bar, Galius' eyes caught a woman oddly out of place in a nurses uniform, splatted with the blood of the recently dispatched fool. Galius smirked, she didn't even budge when the blood hit her, and he didn't even notice. Still, he pushed off the wall he was leaning on and grabbed a rag from the counter, he threw it across the room and it landed on the woman's lap. He then returned to the wall and continued to lean there.
He had only a few more hours before the post changed, then he could go get some rest. Something about the air made him feel that this night wouldn't be as calm as it was setting up to be...

He took the water he had asked for and turned around in his chair to look at the people sitting in the place. He carefully looked at every person, looking around at the guard as he tossed a cloth towards the girl in the nurse uniform. She looked a bit different from the others. He watched her for a while and then moved his eyes towards others.
As he finished the water, he kept it on the counter thanking the bartender politely before turning around and keeping his elbows on the counter, smiling at no one in particular, enjoying the atmosphere.

The night passed uneventfully, and as the morning sun rose over the grey, dilapidated buildings, Bernie walked over to the end of the bar and tossed Galius a sack of coins. Galius snatched it from the air and took a glance inside, then putting it on his belt, raised his eyes to meet Bernie's.
"That's your pay for the week. When Forman comes in you're good to go. See ya in a a day."
Galius nodded his head, and then pushed off the wall, walking over and grabbing a glass off the wall. He filled it up with a shot of whiskey and downed it, tossing one of the coins back at Bernie. Bernie laughed and pocketed the coin. The entire place came to life, many moving to gather their things. Most patrons of Bernie's came in only when a certain guard was on duty, more often than not, that was Galius. Forman, the kinder soul, was seen as weaker by the masses, although plenty capable. For some reason, despite Galius' quiet and brooding demeanor, nobody in here feared him, they trusted him with their lives on a day to day basis. One can only assume that in such a vast hellhole as Varamen, anyone can look for someone who can give them that much needed rest from fighting for their lives.
Within a few minutes, Forman, a much larger guard of about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds, walked in the door. he tossed down his pack in the corner and offered a handshake to Galius. Galius took it, but didn't look up. Forman took the post and Galius, as well as numerous patrons, left the bar.
Life was all but extinct of the dark streets of Varamen. Not many ventured out during the day, even less during the night. Most found any means they could to stay hidden. As Galius walked down the street to the south, heading toward his home in a long abandoned housing project, he passed a few men who seemed almost in a trace. Looking back over his shoulder he watched as they walked, almost as if something compelled them to follow, as if they were sheep. With all the recent atrocities, Galius wasn't sure what to make of it. It reminded him of nearly six months ago, it was a painful memory...
As he reached his small home, a one room shack with an outhouse in the back. On the door, a message to all who dared enter here, were the only words needed to end any idea of causing trouble.
"HOME OF GALIUS VANSEN"
Those were the only words needed. Most of the drab of Varamen knew those four words meant a fate worse than death, were they to trespass without his allowance.
However, the memories came flooding back, of a time long passed, of a friend, the only one he ever allowed enter his home on a regular basis... A Young woman named Eve.
Years back, Galius was still working at Bernie's and Eve was a common patron. As usual, Galius never spoke, at least as far as anyone knew at that point. Eve was one of the few people ever to talk to Galius. Of course, he rarely responded with more than a nod or a hand motion, but she still talked to him every day she was in there. She was a lively woman, not weak in the slightest, and she spent a lot of her time in Bernie's, one because it was where Galius was, and secondly, because she enjoyed the place. For some reason, she always gave Galius a hard time, and she was one of the few people that he ever looked in the eyes, or even smiled to, when they spoke. Ussually, when someone saw his blood red eyes, it was their death sentence.
Eve was a warrior, nearing 30. She was tall, thin, but muscular. She carried around a broadsword, and proved more than once that she meant business. She had long black hair that hung down to her mid back. Her eyes were a bright green, and she was a sight to behold. Not a stunning beauty, but enough of one that people rarely expected so much strength, or fury.
One night after Galius had left Bernie's she followed him to his house. He didn't know she was there, but a few minutes after he had entered, she knocked on the door. After a deathly long pause, the door opened, and Galius stood in the doorway, his leather jacket off, but his clothes from Bernie's still the same. She said a few words, and Galius walked away, leaving the door open. She walked in, and left a few hours later.
According to what she told Bernie, she talked to him like she did at Bernie's. However, he still didn't talk back. She was on a mission to get him to speak, and apparently, one night a few weeks later, he said to her:
"Is there any reason you follow me home at night?"
She was caught off-guard by the bluntness, and almost felt offended, like he was put off by her wanting to show him any semblance of kindness. However, she answered the question.
"Because... I like... talking to you, i guess."
Eve was not one to be lost on words, but this was a moment she really couldn't come up with anything. She wasn't falling for him, but the question was one that she wanted to answer as well. She liked him, but didn't like him in a romantic way. She told Bernie she figured that he was such a mystery, that he interested her.
Such was the day to day happenings, she walked to his home after his shift at Bernie's and talked to him, albeit he never spoke much back. Surprisingly enough, she got him to open up some, and eventually, she was telling Bernie a little about Galius. He seemed like a good guy, she said, but something about him wasn't exactly right. It almost seemed he wasn't guided by any semblance of right or wrong. He killed when he had to. She wanted to figure him out, maybe she had fallen in love with him, nobody knew, but all went awry before she could tell Bernie any more...
About 6 months before present day, she was jumped in an alleyway, and killed. The assailants were numerous, and 7 of them were found dead by her corpse. Her leg was sawed off, and nowhere to be found, and her skull was cracked open. Bernie found her days later while heading to his store..
Galius still showed up to work that day, but afterwards, buried his friend. He buried her out back of Bernie's, and held what seemed to be a funeral, despite there only being a few patrons of the bar, Bernie, Forman, and Galius. By the next morning, hanging out front of Bernie's shop were the heads of 13 more men. Galius had hunted down each of the remaining men responsible for Eve's murder, at least, thats what everyone assumed. Found on their bodies, and placed on the counter at Bernie's were a few of her possessions, and Galius' blade was slammed into the counter, as a message to let everyone know who reaped the vengeance.
Since then, Galius returned to his normal state, never speaking, never smiling... It seemed the only person to make him open up, to perhaps delve into his mind, into his person, was lost forever.
But such was life in Varamen, the good died, the bad lived. The loss of a good soul like Eve was a price to pay for the world having such a pit of hell exist. Bernie eventually crafted a gravestone for her. Galius never said a word about their days together, nor was he questioned about it. Because of the swift and terrible vengeance taken, nobody dared say a word to him about it, for fear it would strike a chord.
Galius sat down at the table, eating soup he had cooking over a fire. So he ate his meal, the light of the sun peering through the window. The face of his friend and the appearance of those men on his thoughts, Galius sat, a stoic figure...

Karsten had his head down on the counter even though all he had drunk all night was water. He seemed to be sleeping but was in fact listening to every movement and chatter in the bar. He was practicing like he did frequently to relax. He would concentrate on one piece of conversation and try to follow if over all the noises in the room, then he would move on to another sound, maybe of the bartender pouring drinks for the customers. He had gotten pretty good at it over the years and it kept his mind sharp.
Unknown to all, he never slept. They all assumed he did because he was, for the most part, human. But the angelic reaper in him had brought about some changes. He had always thought that sleeping was a waste of time anyway. He was what could be described as the carrier or the physical form of the reaper. But this was not the soul reaper that was so commonly described in the legends and myth. What he carried was an Angelic Reaper, sent down to hunt the killers of the 27 angels that had been sent down from the heavens to restore goodness in the city.
The reaper had chosen him to carry out the task he had been assigned. He would usually leave control of his body to his own mind but took over when he felt a killer nearby or when he was called upon by Karsten. Over the past two years, Karsten and the reaper had both realized that the city was full of darkness and evil and unknown to the reaper till the moment he had realized it, his mission included ridding the city of the source of the evil.
That night, Karsten did not want to go hunting. He missed contact with the others residents, the one that were not evil. The ones that he usually met were stripped of their souls by the reaper after Karsten had taken the life out of their bodies. It was a thankless task in in city, but he had started to like it a long time back.
As he saw the commotion in the bar increased, he couldn't concentrate anymore. So he brought his head up, smiling again. He looked around to see most people leaving the bar. A few kept sitting including the strange girl he had seen before. He then saw Bernie, or thats who he assumed he was, toss a bag of coins to the guard and thanked him. So thats why so many were leaving. He got up from the counter and walked to the washroom to wash his face. When he came back, he didn't look to check if the girl was still there. There was something about her he couldn't lay his finger on. He had no clue what to do next except roam around the city once again, searching... always searching for them. He got up and started walking slowly towards the door, putting his trench coat back on as he walked.

Carella watched him go, looking down at the dagger stained red with blood, still sitting in its sheath. She felt tired as she watched the two most interesting people to her leave. If only she hadn't lost her crossbow...
Turning back to herself, she continued to think, becoming lost in thought as she used the towel he'd tossed at her and a bit of spittle to clean the blade...
Up until a few days ago, she had been a nurse at the nearby Bryton Memorial Hospital, a massive building compared to the rest; four stories, the top most of which was uninhabitable, and where streets used to run straight through now were blocked off by wielded-together pieces of metal, scraps of wood, and anything else they could find to use as a set of barriers from the tide of freaks.
She had gone out on patrol as usual, checking the outer perimeter when an attack came; several sisters were slain in the outset, and Carella was locked out by the remaining ones... the freaks descended upon her and... that was about all she could remember. She swore she'd been bitten at least once, maybe twice, but she lost consciousness before anything further could she remember. Something had happened to her, because when she awoke in her tattered nurse outfit, she was completely healed, and felt more as if she'd just been born rather than simply dropped off there. Whatever had happened, she was alone now, frightened and alone... but she was different than the other women around her in her blood, most certainly.
Few half-demon breeds existed, and her human blood was slowly burning away, day by day leaving a bit more demon blood within her until it would completely consume her. The thought didn't frighten her, however; in fact, it comforted her to know that she was slowly becoming something other than human. Humanity she despised greatly, as it was humanity that had surely turned this already-infected cesspool into a hell-on-earth... more than likely had created those freaks of nature that feasted upon their own kind.
Sure, upon occasion as of recent, Carella ate human flesh, but only because she was starving; besides, they were slowly becoming an inferior species to her, so why should she care so badly about it? She was hungry, and she fed; it was simple as that. However, those freaks feasted as if they had never eaten in their lives upon the living; they were much like zombies, but smart as animals and swift as wolves. At least Carella was civil enough to give her prey the mercy of being dead before she ate them... she didn't have to, but she felt that such an homage was necessary for personal reasons, mostly her mother's blood which was slowly slipping from her system...
Her mother was raped as a young woman, giving birth to Carella, her one and beloved as Carella knew, not long afterwards. However, Carella, as a child of only five, watched her mother be raped once more and killed by demons; Carella couldn't bring herself to hate what she was, but she still despised other demons for that very reason. She hadn't been born in Varamen, and that was many centuries before, when devils and demons still freely walked, a different time where different devises would work that now had no purpose...
Looking back as she thought about food, her stomach growled. She sighed, proceeding to the counter where she sat next to where the axe-wielding man had been. She sat there for a moment, trying to think and, failing at that, decided to order a simple platter to satisfy her hunger for the time being...

A dark figure, standing atop a building near the center of Varamen laughed out, his voice echoing across the city. It could not carry far, but the echo was enough to torture those nearby. The figure was followed by an aura of darkness. And his tattered cloak of black fluttered in the wind behind him. The only remarkable feature on him was a blue cross on his forehead. Below him was an unsuspecting woman. She was quickly running to get home. She had picked the wrong alley.
The figure dropped down, his cloak enveloping her. There wasn't even time for a scream. She was lying on the ground, unconscious. The dark figure quickly left the scene, and from the ground rose the woman, joining a passing group of pale, entranced people, she attacked a man who had been unlucky enough to pick the same alley. He was slaughtered, and eaten, just like all the others...
---
Galius finished his meal and rose, gathering up his belongings again. He planned to head in deeper into Varamen. However, as he exited, a small boy, Harper, from Bernie's, sprinted up to him.
"Galius!" The boy spurted out, gasping for air, "Someone is attacking the inn!"
Galius' eyes glared forward. Who would have the audacity to attack the inn. Even the worst of the dregs of Varamen loved the relief from the terrors of life. Why Bernie's? Why now? Galius didn't have time to contemplate why or who, he had to get to Bernie's, and quickly.
---
Bernie stood behind his counter, the old man, an aged soldier, not strong enough to fight anymore. Forman, the guard, swung his swords with all the fierceness he could, but it was not enough. These attackers were swift, and powerful. They quickly disarmed him and threw him back inside the tavern. The patrons quickly moved to one end of the bar, sitting ducks. Standing in the doorway was a group of pale men. They had a mark on their forehead, that of a blue cross. The front man rose his hand into the air.
"You stand accused of providing a safe haven for the filth of this city. They must be cleansed, and you with it. Our Master demands it..."
Forman rose from his knees, preparing to strike again at the group of five. He only hoped Galius would get there quickly.

Servios crouched on a balcony outside of the inn. It stood about ten feet above the city streets and overlooked the entrance, where a group of pale looking men stood, huddled together. He had heard the ruckus while he was roaming the streets, and hurried to see what was going on. He saw the guard, Forman by name, whom he knew well enough due to his frequent visits to Bernie's. He saw him swinging his powerful sword, and meant to charge in to aid the big man, and had even drawn his sword to do so, but Forman was quickly disarmed and thrown inside. So instead he had decided to set up on a nearby balcony, to better observe the situation.
He leveled his bow at the small group, an arrow notched and ready to be fired. He held his shot though, not wanting to have the fury of these attackers turned upon him. Then he heard something about their master demanding cleansing, a phrase he had just heard a few days back at another of the safe havens across the city in the west.... Right before that inn was utterly destroyed.
That was all he needed to hear. He was a good friend of Bernie's and would not let that happen here, not to all these good people.
The ranger let loose his arrow into the pale fiends, striking one in between his neck and shoulder. As the beast let out a howl of pain Servios notched another arrow and let fly once more striking the same member of the group in the back of the skull. A sickening thud sounded as the arrow struck home and the thing fell to its knees. Hoping that it stayed down, he turned his gaze upon the next of the attackers, but they had noticed him...
"Well this certainly isn't good..." the hooded ranger mumbled to himself as he set another arrow...

As Karsten turned around the corner into any alley, he stopped in his tracks and spun around to look in the direction of the travern. Anyone who saw him right now would have thought he was looking directly into a wall. It was the reaper who had sensed them. The souless ones..., thats all he said. Thats all Karsten needed to hear. "Its your time again...", he whispered to himself.
The reaper took over the body of Karsten. His face lost all emotion and his eyes gained a subtle glow. Now his body was being controlled by the reaper and Karsten mind together, enhancing his strength and reflexes.
As he walked back towards the travern calmly, he saw the guard being thrown into the travern. He saw something from the corner of his eye and saw the ranger he had seen around the city on some occasions. They seem to have a silent agreement where he would leave Karsten alone and Karsten would not interfere with him as long as he kept killing the right creatures.
He stopped not wanting to step into his firing range. As he saw some creatures get struck by his arrows, he took out his axes from under his trench coat. He walked forward towards the souless, pale men as the volley of arrows paused.
"Let me help you make the rest of the journey to your death", he said to them, and as they turned around, swung his axes, beheading the two nearest ones. He looked up once at the ranger on the balcony and charged into the travern, hoping he would keep the ones outside off his back.
He came up behind the small group inside quickly and quietly. "This place is not for an evil like you", he remarked as he spun the axes on their grip and penetrating the necks of two with the spike. He then twisted the axes in his hands and pushed it to one side, cutting the neck halfway through the middle.
Now his element of surprise gone, he moved towards the front, facing them with his back to the other patrons.

Servios saw the man wielding the axes stride in towards the group. He paused in his fire, not sure of the man's movements and not wanting to hit him. He saw the two heads of the pale creatures leave their bodies, and then the warrior broke for the door of the tavern. He was almost tripped up by another of the creatures, but the ranger's arrow had struck it in the throat before it had gotten to him, sending him against the tavern wall. Another went running in after the man and Servios fired an arrow into his right buttocks, laughing as the creature stumbled forward. His laugh was cut short at a movement he caught out of the corner of his eye however.
This group at the tavern seemed just a scouting group, for now a large group of the pale things came charging around the corner of an alley about twenty feet down, hooting with glee and coming in with abandon. He fired two arrows into the mass, not taking time to aim for any killing blows. They were getting close now and would surely overtake him if he stayed in the balcony, an certainly overtake the tavern too. There were too many of them for the few warriors that now stood to defend the inn.
Servios leaped from the balcony anyway, landing in a roll, and coming up to stand in the path of the charging foes, one hand holding his wickedly sharp scimitar and the other his deadly dagger. He would meet their charge and take down as many as he could with him, likely going down with them.
"No matter" the ranger said with his green eyes glowing intensely, "At least I get to have a little fun." He let out a little laugh at that, and if anyone had seen him, they might think him crazy, laughing in such a situation, but that was Servios for you.
"Let's have it then" he yelled out as the closest of the charging group charged at him to strike...

((OOC: I'm not gonna do much with this post, cause I would like to give Mammoth a chance to post his character's actions. So i'll just do a bit of fighting I tend to get pretty descriptive with my battles, forgive me if this bores you lol)) Servios growled in defiance as he met the first of the attackers. He duck under a fist that was coming in fast at his face and slashed horizontally with his scimitar as he went low, across the things legs, making it stumble forward and away from the throng. He used this momentum to bring him around in a complete spin coming to face the next of the entranced civilians. This one was holding a sword, and it came down at the ranger in an overhead chop. Servios parried the attack with his dagger, catching the thing's sword near the hilt, and twisted his wrist, pushing the weapon wide, leaving its chest completely open for for the ranger to plunge his scimitar in. He was stopped however before being able to complete the counter, as a clawed hand came at him from the right. His sword hand was in an awkward position to perform any attack on the new foe, and so was forced to use the flat side of his scimitar to simply deflect the hand. A third attacker came upon him then, and he brought his scimitar up high and across to strike the thing's neck, but it leaned back just out of range. He quickly reversed his momentum putting the blade back out the other way, and when the creature still dodged the attack, he used his arms moving backward as momentum to step forward and put all of his weight into a kick to the thing's chest, throwing it back and knocking over a couple behind it. He had compromised himself however, for now he was surrounded. Servios flipped his dagger over in his hand, changing his stance to one that offered more defensive options. He did not plan to survive this, but he might hold out long enough to give those at the inn time to set up a proper defense...

OOC: Thanks Tal. With classes all day i dont get to post till the night. Good to see you guys not taking off without me IC: Galius arrived, the young boy in tow behind him. He was greeted with the sounds of battle, what looked like a ranger fighting out front, and the tall man with the axes inside, as well as the woman with the nurses outfit. The ranger was diving headlong into battle forgetting his wits and allowing himself to be surrounded. Galius wasted no time, and with a quick shot of an arrow, brought the pale men's attention to him. The arrow, of course, was lodge in the forehead of the closest man, if you could call them that. They moved to attack the ranger, a few of them breaking off to distract Galius. However, the underestimated him. The three attacked in unison. Galius deflected two of the attacks, and while ducking the other, brought his blade up between one of the men's legs. Rolling to the side, he took out the achilles tendon's of the next, and as the man fell, decapitated him. The last charged, only to find himself impaled upon Galius' longsword. Having dispatched the three with surprising ease, Galius stepped forward, challenging the men outside. The others inside had their hands full with the trenchcoat man and the nurse, as well as a re-armed Forman. Galius stared down the pale soldiers, each garbed in hardly anything a warrior would wear, holding nothing but kitchen hardware and yardwork tools for weapons. Galius somehow felt this was an unfair fight. But he cared not for mercy. These "people" threatened Bernie's, and that was something Galius would not stand for. Glancing over at the ranger, Galius stood, hands at his sides holding their blades. A stance that let him seem open to attack, however, nobody understood his speed until it was far too late... But he thought, perhaps he was underestimating these men...

Servios owed Galius his life very likely, for his distraction had given the ranger time to set his feet under him, leaping in a twisting somersault over the heads of those soulless men to come landing with his back to the open street. As he landed he gave an appreciative nod to Galius, whom he knew only from his visits to the inn though the man likely did not know him, and then turned back to face his attackers.
The ranger came on in a fury, his scimitar and dagger moving in such an entrancing dance. A dance of death to be sure, as his rage drove his arms down and across, then forward into another creature, as he retracted his scimitar he came in close with his dagger, thrusting it through the creatures chin and into its brain. He worked furiously to defend the attacks coming in at him, but found enough time to offer plenty of counters, cutting down a few of the fiends ahead of him. What the ranger lacked in power he certainly made up for with finesse and bladework. He offered no openings and pressed the attacks constantly.
More of them seemed to be pouring from the alleyways though, and they seemed to be being overrun. *How many of these things are there? Servios wondered, taking a chance to glance around and take in the enemy. He could not wander long though as a hand came for his throat, aiming to rip it out. It soon lay severed on the street, cut off by the ranger's dagger.
"To the Nine Hells with you!" Servios roared as he savagely pressed his attack, swinging his blades with perfect form, and brutal force. However, no matter how many were cut down, more seemed to appear from the shadows...
