Tala froze as she looked at the man like he was crazy.
She took a deep breath as if to say something long, and then just said "no." to answer his question.
She took another bite of food, swallowing before looking at the drunk, "you need to get away from me..." she said simply, but it was an order none the less.

The drunk man began to say something again moving his hand towards hers. Cezar stopped eating. He had no idea how she would react if this man bothered them anymore. He wasn't sure what he might end up doing. He caught the man's hand with a swift movement making sure not to use any strength in his grip. Hopefully he was too drunk to notice that it had been a bit faster than a normal human reflex.
"Listen mister, we... uh appreciate your offer bu we have had a bad couple of days and would just like to eat in peace."
He suddenly shouted, "Let go of me!", jerked his hand from his grip. He ended up stumbling back and falling on an empty table behind him.

While Tala was thankful for Cezar's saving grab, she didn't know what to do now that this man had caused a commotion.
Thankfully she didn't have to. The inn keeper came over and got the drunk man, uttering an apology to them as he escorted the man away.
"oh jeez..." Tala sighed and rested her head on her hand, leaning back in her seat afterwards

He realized how close they had come to being detected. If any one of them had hit the man, the force enough would have been enough to warn every human in the place that they were not one of them. He smiled and nodded at the innkeeper walked back from the door after escorting the drunk out of the inn.
He then looked back at Tala and sighed. "That was too close for comfort. Lets just get the hell out of here as soon as possible..."

"yeah, I guess you're right... we should try and head towards water. Let's try and finish this up then." she nodded and went back to eating, wanting to finish and go, but not wanting to leave until she knew she was done, not wanting to experience such hunger again for awhile.

Cezar didn't really understand her suggestion about heading towards water, but seeing as she had gone back to her food, he did the same.
As he finished his food, he got up and walked up to the counter. He talked to the innkeeper for a while, thanked him again for dealing with the drunk and declined his offer for a room for them as politely as he could.
He walked back to the table and sat down, waiting for Tala to finish, while he looked around trying to look casual.

When Tala finished she stacked their plates together to make it easier on the inn keeper, and then headed to the door where the man was waiting to greet guests.
"thanks again." she nodded to him and he halted them.
"if you two are really gonna go back out there, alteast take this." he offered them a cross. Black rope and silver cross, she just knew it, and the inn keeper confirmed it.
"it'll keep you safe should anything happen again." he nodded and held it out to them.
"thank you." she nodded and took the necklace, making sure to grab the rope, "I really appreciate it." she nodded, and cupped her hands around it, holding onto the rope tightly as she kept her hands from actually touching the cross.
Once she had it in her grip, she left the inn, wanting to find a place to toss the necklace.

His eyes never left the cross in Tala's hand. He knew how dangerous this arrangement was. As they both walked out, the drunk man from before bumped into Cezar who in turn bumped into Tala. He didn't hear the man apologize as he tried to enter the inn again, most probably for another drink. Cezar was staring wide-eyed at Tala's hand now, with a burning smell reaching his nose an instance after he saw it. He pressed down on her shoulder with his hand and whispered in her ear, "No Tala, dont... not here...", he said quickly and pulled at her free hand into the alley between the inn and the next building, running deep into it, away from the main street. Thankfully it was deserted.
She had frozen in pain back on the street. He could only wonder what had kept her from screaming out instantly.

Tala still didn't say anything, just standing there, eyes wide.
As soon as she felt the burning silver agianst her skin, she bit her lip as hard as she could, just wanting to scream.
She couldn't believe it. As soon as she got bumped into, she didn't the stupidest thing and actually grabbed ONTO the cross... She felt like a moron... a moron in extreme pain since she didn't drop the cross yet.

He pried open her hand which now clung to the cross. Without thinking he took the cross in his hand, only for an instance before he threw it down on the alley floor. He looked back at her hand. The cross had burned through part of her skin. Her palm was now red with the burn mark. For a few moments, all he could do was stare at it.
He suddenly remembered, and took out a piece of cloth from his jacket pocket. He quickly but carefully tied it around her hand. "I...I am very sorry.", he mumbled, finally looking up into her eyes.

She just nodded, barely talking in what he said, still in shock, not opening her mouth cause she knew she'd cry out.

He could see the pain in her eyes and her face as she tried to control what would be a normal and insuppressible reaction. He hesitated for a moment, not knowing what would she do, then pulled her head into his shoulder in a kind of embrace and whispered, "Let it go Tala..."

As soon as she knew it was muffled, Tala screamed out in pain, her hands clutching at his shirt tightly as she let it out.

It had hurt even when he had held it in his had only for a second. He could only imagine what he must have felt. He looked towards the street to make sure nobody had heard them.
"Are you alright?", he whispered in her ear.

Tala wasn't sure what to say, taking deep breaths as she waited for the pain to pass, holding onto her hand now instead of him, her burnt hand shaking badly.
