((private RP))
Thane sighed as he sat out in the school gardens.
The school looked like one large castle, and could easily have been one if it held a king instead of students.
The school held two kinds of people, knights and mages, the teachers taught the young mage and knights to be everything they could as they grew up in he school walls.
Generally it was fun, and hard work as well, but on occasion it really sucked.
As of recently, Thane was having some trouble doing his exercises. They were still a bit beyond him, but he'd get them eventually. But right now he just wanted to relax instead of thinking of what he'd have to do later...

*Elysar sighed softly as he left the castle and went out into the gardens, desperate to get away from the other men. They were always talking about women and money, things he had no real interest in. He was more worried about his studies and being the best in his classes, something that the other mages often despised him for. Eager for some peace and quiet to practice, he went out and sat down by a pond, frowning slightly as he manipulated the water in various shapes an patterns.*

Thane saw the mage and the water and couldn't help it. He got up and walked over to him.
"how is it exactly, that you guys do that stuff?"

*Elysar jumped slightly, the water falling back into the pond as he lost his focus. He glanced up at the man who had spoken, automatically recognizing him as a knight.* "Talent and lots of studying..."

"well, how did you know you had the ability to?"

*Elysar raised an eyebrow at the man.* "Awfully curious for a helmethead, aren't you?"

"I just wanna know. Never saw the harm in asking a simple question..."

"Fine. It was pretty obvious... When I was younger, I fell into a lake while no one was watching me... I didn't know how to swim at the time, so I started drowning... I kept wishing and wishing for something to happen so that I could get out of the water. Next thing I know, a perfectly calm lake has a wave large enough to send me crashing to the shore. It was always like that. If I focused hard enough and wanted something badly enough, I could usually make it happen... Start fires on a cold day, make the crops grow a little faster when it seemed like I would starve... that kind of thing... It was rare and took a lot of emotion and focus, but it was enough."

"oh ok, so you could always do it. that's what I didn't know. No one really told me how a person becomes a mage before so I wasn't sure."

"Some people never discover the talent until they are tested. I was lucky enough to have it since a young age."

"ok... that makes more sense now. My classes don't deal with mages at all, not even mentioning them."

"Hmph. Of course not. I expect mages are irrelevant in your line of work unless you need to know how to combat one."

"you know, you don't have to have such an attitude..."

*Elysar frowned at that, returning to his water tricks.* "You knights never take an interest in us scrawny, weak mages... You laugh at us in the halls and underestimate us at every turn..."

"so, coming to ask you about mages, is disinterest to you?"
