Kassia looked around. These ones must be resiliant, if they could survive such a crash. Her thoughts were wondering to each of them separately, yet all at once. This was nothing new to her. Her mind was capable of multi-tasking to an incredible degree.
O'Connell watched Kassia. It was like he knew what was going through her head, and it worried him. He kept the glock close to him always, and he rarely engaged the safety. He found himself ready to pounce at any sudden movement she made. He was the old Sully again.

LJ's eyes grew round and she grabbed two bananas from the bag. She'd been so worried about her head, she had ignored her stomach.
"Mmmmf!" she said happily, swalling a bite, "This is good."

Karina sat under the shade of the palm trees and watched the waves splash against the shore. The sun wasn't as high as it was an hour ago, and the heat was startig to dissipate, but she still didn't want to get up.
Looking to the other survivors, she suddenly remembers the wolf from the previous night. "O'Connell, should we travel inland and try to find some shelter better than the open beach? It would probably be safer if mor of those wolf-things come during the night."

(OOC: Sorry for my absence. I lost phone service, and it completely hosed my antiquated internet connection. ) Jason was examining LJ's leg injury when Karina mentioned the wolves. To prevent LJ from panicking, he said, "Don't worry -- large groups of people tend to scare off most animals, and we're a much bigger group than we were last night. We did see some wolves, or something similar, snooping around by the wreckage last night, though." He had no idea if his statement about large groups of people scaring animals off was true or not... he had just wanted to say something encouraging. Looking at the leg wound, he decided out loud, "It's not as bad as O'Connell's injury. I'll clean and bandage it, and hopefully that'll prevent it getting infected... that's the only real risk with a wound like this. As for the bump on the head -- it worries me that it caused amnesia. That makes it sound serious. I'm concerned you might have a concussion, or even a mild skull fracture, but there's no way to diagnose that in the absence of electricity. I want you to tell me if you experience headaches -- especially bad ones -- or dizziness or blackouts. If you don't get any of those symptoms, you're probably out of the woods." Looking around at the vast expanse of jungle, he said, "Well, not literally out of the woods, but you get my point."

LJ smiled at Jason, "My head hurts, but it's not a headache." A lie, of course. Her head felt like it would split into two. And she was dizzy when she was standing. But she didn't want to worry anybody. There was enough to worry about with the wolves and what not.
She wolfed down the other banana.
"Maybe we ought to make a big fire. It would probably help scare off the wolves some more."

Karina nodded at the mention of a fire. "Yes, a fire would be good, but not right now. It would only make it more unbearable in this heat."
As Jason inspects LJ's leg, Karina realizes for a moment how lucky the small group is to have a doctor with them. O'Connell's leg would probably have to be amputated without him around, and Karina wouldn't have known her ankle was broken.
Karina watches him for a moment, her mind wandering to places it shouldn't be. After a bit, she realizes what she's doing and shakes her head, reminding herself that she has a boyfriend who's probably going crazy about her being gone.

O'Connell rubbed some aloe onto his arms and shoulders. The skin was beet red, and it hurt like none other. He could already feel the skin on his shoulders and back tightening. For some reason, he found himself hoping his tattoos wouldn't peel. "I'll go start getting some wood for the fire," he said, and headed off into the forest.
Kassia watched him leave and smiled for a moment. She hoped the sun wouldn't do too much damage to his skin...

"Ok. Please get back before the sun sets!!" Karina hollers after O'Connell's fading figure. She reaches for the aloe bottle, and starts putting some on her shoulders where she got burnt the worst. It wasn't as bad as O'Connell's, but she still knew better than to let it go without.

Jason finished wrapping the bandage around LJ's wound, and told her, "That'll need to be changed once a day until it heals. I put some Neosporin on there, so it should heal fast." He watched O'Connell disappear into the trees, and wondered how his leg injury was doing.
He saw Karina rubbing aloe on her shoulders, and realized he was probably pretty badly burned (the sun damage to his face, at any rate, hurt like he had stuck his head inside an oven). He watched her while he waited his turn for the aloe, wondering what nationality the name 'Karina' was. His mind had always worked this way -- whatever the average male would think, which in Karina's case would be D**n, she's hot, he thought something completely different.

LJ watched Jason face and smiled teasingly.
"Ooo....... Someone has a crush."
She stood up and walked away before Jason could say anything in reply.

Jason quickly looked away from Karina, hoping that she hadn't seen him watching her. He hadn't actually been thinking about her in that way... at least not a lot... but he had been staring, and he knew it wasn't polite and, when he did it to women, was often taken as creepy.
"Of all the things you could possibly remember, teasing people was the first thing that came to mind?" he called after LJ.
Turning back around, but looking at the trees instead of Karina this time, he muttered under his breath, "I was just waiting for the f**king aloe." But the redness in his face was from more than just sunburn now, and he wondered if his staring had been as innocent as he thought.

O'Connell was breaking off sticks in the underbrush skirting the beach when he saw it. The wolf-like creature staring at him through the bushes. He froze, inching his hand towards the glock in his waist band. Thankfully, these were the hammerless design. The creature pounced, and O'Connell fired. His first shot was dead-on, in the shoulder. The creature was stunned, but far from severe injury. It shook its head, barred its teeth, and pounced again. As its maw was about to descend on O'Connell, he shoved the muzzle into the creatures mouth and fired again, the bullet perforating the brain tissue of the wolf, killing it. O'Connell shook his head. They'd need more firewood.
Kassia heard the shots, and her eyes lit for a moment. She took her knife out of her waist band and bounded off into the jungle, without saying a word.

Karina was just about to hand Jason the aloe when she heard two gun shots off in the distance. "Did you hear that?" She slowly stood, and realized her ankle had stiffened while she rested. "I think it came from the direction O'Connell went..." Karina made sure her pistol was loaded before heading off in that direction, calling over her shoulder, "I'll be right back. Stay here and watch LJ." With a lingering look on Jason's pink face, she delved into the underbrush, and fought her way through, gun in hand.
After a bit of searching, Karina finally came upon a dead wolf lying in the brush, including O'Connell. "Hey, are you okay? I heard the shots and came as fast as I could..."

"Great.... I get left with the doctor," LJ said, rolling her eyes a little. She was feeling better now and her head was starting to clear a little,"Not that I have anything against you, Jason." She sat down in the shade next to him.
"Wonder what the gunshot was.... And where'd that creepy girl go?"

"She went with Karina to check on O'Connell," Jason said. "I imagine the gunshot's nothing... O'Connell probably found a deer or something else we can eat and decided to kill it and drag it back to camp. He seems like that kind of guy."
He decided he agreed with LJ about Kassia... she weirded him out, too. He decided not to say anything about this, though. Instead he said, "You seem like you're starting to feel better. It's good to see you joking around and stuff. Even if it is mostly at my expense."
