*In the kingdom of Valeria, a time of great sorrow and destruction reigned over the land. From across the sea, the kingdom of Haldor came for conquest, determined to create a vast empire for its own glory. Valeria and all of its neighbors were endangered by the great Haldorian armies, known for their superb military might. Devastated by the war, Valeria has finally resorted to summoning the leaders of the surrounding nations to Valeria's royal palace to discuss combining forces against the Haldorian threat. After all of the guests had arrived, King Chrysanthos and his son Prince Balthazar threw a grand banquet for all of the foreign royalty. The party was extremely elaborate and joyous, despite the solemn events they would be discussing the next day. All of the palace servants were decked out in their greatest finery, dancing, playing music, and bringing endless supplies of food and drink to the rowdy crowds gathered on various embroidered sofas and beaded cushions.*

The party had been going on for a good half hour before the representatives from the kingdom Shen arrived. It was the kingdom farthest from Valeria and took the travelers through barren land of sand, hills, and little grass for many miles. But the finally made it. When they arrived it was the prince who lead in his group. The king had fallen ill and couldn't make the journey, sending his son to take care of things. When he entered the crowded area, the prince discarded a cape that had been over him to protect from the sand, giving it to one of his servants, exposing his appearance. His hair was long and a deep black, red streaking through it as a brown leather band was wrapped around. His clothes were tough brown and black leather, showing off his build. Then his face... his face was marked with simple paint used as war time symbles, his ears adorned with silver piercings. But the most stunnig thing was his eyes. The bright amethyst stood out most, an uncommon feature for his region.

*At the head of the room, King Chrysanthos and his son Prince Balthazar were seated on their elaborate sofas, several servants attending them. Slightly off to the side, watching the festivities with a rather bored expression, sat Azra, future princess betrothed to Balthazar. Her long, dark braids were accented by a bright blue circlet which perfectly complemented her eyes... And her dress... her dress was the finest in the room, decked out in blue and gold with chains and jewels all over. Not only was it elaborate, but it perfectly revealed her figure, showing off her tanned bare arms and abdomen. Despite all of her finery and decoration, she looked as solemn and unaffected by everything around her as she could possibly be.... However, interest briefly flickered in her eyes as she turned her head to the entrance of the hall, watching as the representatives of the kingdom of Shen made their grand entrance.. though her eyes were completely focused on the man leading them, not the interesting servants or their strange garb...*

Kuren ignored all around him, makig his way to the king and prince, bowing once he was before them. "I'm sorry we're late, an unexpected sandstorm kept us behind. But my father sends his regards expressing his dismay at not being able to come. Illness has overcome him and it would be unwise for him to venture so far." he stood back up after his explanation.

*Azra watched as King Chrysanthos just nodded his head politely in response.*
"Far better to be late than to never come. We will need all of the forces we can gather to face the Haldorian threat. Your presence is welcomed."
*Azra's eyes were so focused on this strange prince that she almost didn't notice when Prince Balthazar rose to his feet, meaning that she had to do the same. King Chrysanthos remained seated as he made the introductions.*
"As you well know, I am King Chrysanthos. This is my son Balthazar, High Prince of Valeria, and the future princess Azra."
*While Balthazar only gave a brief and small bow, Azra dipped into a low and graceful curtsy, not yet high enough in status to give any lesser greeting to a prince.*

Kuren nodded to both of them, "it's a pleasure to meet you all. And on behalf of the Kingdom of Shen, I'll say it will be a pleasure to fight besides Valeria." he nodded once more before walking away.

*Azra watched him go, finding him among the most interesting guests the longer she observed him. She sighed softly as she sat down again on her small sofa, upright and proud with her hands folded in her lap. She watched the merriment from her position at the head of the room, observing as men were fed the rarest fruits and richest wines by the most beautiful men and women in the kingdom, though they did not allow themselves to be taken advantage of by the drunken, rowdy men. She also watched various groups of people dancing and swaying rapidly around the room, servant and noble alike twirling and laughing happily... while she just sat there and stared.*

Kuron sat down on one of the couches as his servants wandered around. He simply watched the partiers, not one to join in himself, so he just sat there, arms resting atop the couch as he looked around at everyone.

*Azra's bright blue eyes more than once strayed to the strange prince of Shen, finding it curious that he alone of the nobles did not seem to revel in the festivities. Still, it comforted her to know that she was not alone in her silence and solemnity.*

He yawned quietly, closing his eyes as he sat there, wondering when the festivities would be over.

*Azra finally couldn't sit there any longer, excusing herself from the prince's side on account of not feeling well... She stood from her sofa, bidding her few attendents to stay as she swept out of the room, her long skirt trailing behind her. However, she didn't return to her chambers, simply roaming the halls of the palace, listening to the echoes of the music that floated along them.*

Kuren sat there for a little while before he decided to get up and walk around, going to look around and see the sites of the castle, wondering if there was a garden.

*Azra sighed as she stopped at one of the large, elaborate and glassless windows in the hallway, staring out at the royal gardens and the large moon that hung in the sky. She closed her eyes, savoring the feeling of the wind and wishing she was back in her own home, in her own gardens, far away from the noisy, busy palace life.*

Kuren walked around till he made his way to the gardens, walking out into them and standing in the moonlight, the light casting a reflection on his bright eyes.

*Azra was a little surprised to see the strange prince from before wandering the gardens alone... Wondering if he was lost and desperate for an excuse to go outside, she made her way down to the gardens, hesitantly approaching the unusual foreigner.*
