Ka'ze chuckles, and shakes his head slightly, smiling, "you are the most interesting person I have met in my life. And that's saying something."

'Really?' Avery asked, rather intrigued by his own quality of interest to others. 'Uhm... well... I can safely say that's a compliment I have never been paid before. One of the only compliments I've ever been paid, actually, but I can also say that you are about the only person I've ever known, so you wouldn't expect me to get paid many compliments, now would you?' he grinned. 'I mean, I know other people, but you're the only one who's ever actually shown a shread of hospitality towards me. All of the others just wanted to use me for one thing or another.'

"wow, that sucks. Someone only wanting to use you. but all that means is that you can do something they can't."

Avery shrugged and looked out the window at the inky landscape speeding by. 'Never thought of it that way, but, then again, I never did find out what most of them wanted me for. Other than burning me at the stake when several of them realized I was a vampire,' he laughed. 'Other than that, I'd say I'm pretty useless, especially because I didn't WANT to burn burned alive. At least not at the time, at any rate. And I'm not fishing for compliments OR feeling sorry for myself. I just... am... y'know? Like it wouldn't matter if I existed or not because I sure as heck don't add anything to the world.' Avery fell silent, turning that thought over in his mind repeatedly. For some reason it struck him as odd: he had never before referred to himself as just being there, he was always an evil creature in his own mind, and why he should start referring to himself as neutral now was beyond him.

"well I believe that everybody has some reason. Sometimes it just takes awhile to figure out what." he shrugged.

'You figured out yours yet, then? Seems you've had plenty of time. Don't know about you, Silver, but I know I'm gonna die sooner or later. When I was still a kid my brother used to tll me one morning I'd wake up dead, which, in itself, is ironic: you can't wake up if you're dead,' Avery highly doubted he needed the explanation, but tacked it on anyway.
'I still believe that. No, I won't die of old age, or whatever but I will eventually. Who knows, maybe they'll find me and kill me,' he wasn't sure if he was referring to his family, or people and general at this, 'or maybe I'll trip and get run over by a car, or maybe an asteroid will plummet down from the heavens and vaporize us all,' Avery shrugged and waved vaguely at the sky, 'OR maybe I'll just get bored. Heck, I could die right now. I could've died back with that cop, or who knows what. But we all die Silver, that's for sure.'

Ka'ze shook his head, "no I haven't figured out why I'm here, and I know. One day everyone and everything will die. But I won't, not until I've done what I have to do. You won't die until that's done either."

'But what if my purpose in this world IS to die? huh? Y'know, like my death will set off some marvelous chain of events changing the world as we know it,' Avery looked at Ka'ze questioningly, prepared to rattle off a whole series of 'What-if's' should need arise. But, like usual, he didn't give his companion the chance to.
'And you,' he scoffed, 'well, you're just stubborn, I can see that now. No wonder you lived so long. I bet trying to get rid of you, Silver is like trying to kill off a dandelion: you just keep coming back.' Avery grinned and couldn't help but laugh at his compariison of Ka'ze to a flower.

"I don't believe that ANYONE'S purpose is to die. Everyone has something they have to do while they're ALIVE. It just takes time to find it, and as a vampire, we have" he sighed, "plenty of time."

(How much more driving please?)

((( Not much, I promise you, Sweety. I'll have Avery fall asleep and then maybe Ze could have Ka'ze wake him up and be at the hills or something. Sorry, this must be really monotonous for you..... ))) Avery nodded, suddenly quiet. He didn't really feel like playing devil's advocate with Ka'ze anymore: the dude always just came up with some opinion of his own to combat Avery's, which rarely happened. He sighed and let his head rest back on the seat, drifting in out of sleep before finally forsaking his efforts to stay awake completely.

Ka'ze continued driving as Avery went to sleep. He chuckled lightly as they neared the hills.

Avery woke up as the unvarying motion of the car drew to a halt. He blinked in the darkness and yawned before rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. Ka'ze had said they'd have to walk to the hills earlier. He sighed and glanced over at him. 'So are we goin' or what? Is Tia still behind us?'

Tia drummed her fingers on the steering wheel bored. This was the last time she ever followed another car somewhere. Next time she'd just take directions and get there at he own speed.
She sighed with relief as she saw the upcoming hills. Yep. This was the last time....

Ka'ze got out of his car, locking the door, "well we're here. I'll bet you'll both miss driving SO much won't you?" he smirked, chuckling.
