Ka'ze turned the volume up, and continued to drive to their destination, thinking along the way.

Avery reached over and turned the volume back down. He glanced at Ka'ze and shrugged, 'Splitting headache,' was all he offered as an explanation. After a few more moments of silence Avery sighed, 'You ever been shot?' he asked, just trying to make conversation and simply because it was the only thing on his mind.
'Eh, probably not,' Avery answered his own question. 'You're too good for that and even if you were you'd just heal right away. Forgive me for even asking.'

Ka'ze chuckled, "yes I have been shot, and I didn't always heal right away. In the beginning it takes time, but eventually, after you've been hurt alot, it doens't take as long. So given the amount of time it takes me to heal, which is pretty fast, I've been shot, stabbed, and in many other ways hurt, over my life time."

'Yeah, well it doesn't work that way unless you're a pureblood. The only thing I've ever managed to develop in the last hundred and fifty years or so is an odd tolerance for pain. This is the first time I've been shot though,' Avery laughed and slid further down in the seat so he could barely see above the dashboard. Sighing, he closed his eyes and pressed the towel aganst his shoulder more firmly.

He nodded in Avery's direction, "you gonna be ok? Don't want ya diein or anything."

'Like it matters,' Avery laughed bitterly. 'Yeah, I'm fine. I would expect you, of all people, to know that getting shot in the arm won't kill someone. I never did well when I lost blood though, and when I do, I lose a lot of it. Just some weird gene I guess,' he shrugged lightly.

Tia popped into the CD player, a CD she had gotten specially burned with her favorite songs. She drummed her fingers against the stering wheel as she sung along with Def Lepard.
She was thankful at that moment that she was born a vampire, not bitten. She was saved the whole trouble of slow healing.

"wow, that sucks. I'd hate to have a gene like that. Must make things slightly difficult at times." he said, eyes never leaving the road.

'Yeah, slightly,' Avery sighed. 'Sorry if I end up getting blood on your seats anyway,' he added, almost as an afterthought.
'You just left Tia? Did she say anything? ' Avery suddenly wondered. 'She doesn't seem like she's shaken up easily.'

"I didn't just leave, I sid bye and stuff. Said we'd see her later. And it's ok about the blood, but if you can avoid it, then please do so," he said, not really caring .

'Will do,' Avery nodded and rubbed his eyes, looking up and out the window at the blur of the intermittent lights along the sides of the highway.

Ka'ze nodded. "It'll just be a few more hours till we get there. If ya want, you can get some sleep until we arrive."

'Yeah, uhm.... hmm...' Avery trailed off into thought for a moment. Ka'ze wouldn't have any bandages, he knew, so, with a sigh, he ripped off the hem pf his shirt and tied it around his arm, securing the rag in place. Avery foled his arms over his chest and stared ahead blankly at the road. He had never liked sleeping: it always made him feel vulnerable. Anything could happen when you were asleep, anyone could find you and kill you. Not only that, you might miss something important. There was plenty of time for sleeping when you died. If you died, thought of course, Avery automatically assumed he would, sooner or later. Everyone had to die, but then again..... He glanced over at Ka'ze: alive since the Middles Ages, or Dark Aages or whatever he had said, thought Avery always thought they were one in the same, or, at the very least, overlapped. But no, there was no way he would live that long, in fact, he didn't really want to.

Ka'ze saw Avery look at him out of the corner of his eye, "hmm...something up?"

'Thinking,' Avery said absentmindedly, then he blinked, shook his head and looked at Ka'ze.
'What? Oh, no. I'm thinking, but then, I suppose I already said that, didn't I? Oh, well...' he concluded rather randomly.
