Name: Konar Rari
Age: 25
Appearance: Konar is thin but hard muscled, as magic takes it toll on the body and only the strong can continuously use it. His head is shaved and tattooed, a mask of runic symbols running up his face and over his scalp to run down his neck and back. He wears long black robes, trimmed in red and tied at his waist with a red sash, with his arms left bare.
Armament: Konar's fights with magic, his choice weapon being lightning, favored for its speed and its ability to pass through metal armor. He can readily call lightning from the sky, but its a harder matter to fire the bolts from himself, which makes him prefer combat outside.
Abilities: Konar is dexterious and stronger than his thin frame would suggest, but he is no match in strength for the standard fighting man. He is skilled in combative and defensive magic, but has almost no training in healing, divination, or illusion. Lightning spells are his specialty, and his most powerful spell is lightning based. Lightning Legion, which creates several armored soldiers made of lightning. Their swords hit with the power of lightning strikes and it's just as dangerous to hit them as it is to be hit by them. The down side of the spell is that it always uses up all of Konar's remaining magical power, taking him out of the fight once it's cast. At full strength, he can create twenty of the lightning soldiers, and they will last for ten minutes. Close combat is Konar's weakness, and he knows it, which had lead him to training in dodging blows and the use of a small energy shield that can be used to block and parry with. Still, he will always retreat quickly from melee if he can.
Bio/history: Konar left Khalathir when he was five and wandered for several years, living at various farms for days or weeks at a time at the mercy and pity of farmers who had seen their share of orphans. Though he was taken in kindly for the most part, Konar never felt at home in the mundane world of farming, and would always move on, stopping at the next farm only for need of food and a place to sleep. As he got older his ability to generate sympathy grew less and he was more expected to work, and there is little Konar finds more tedious than physical labor. Eventually his wanderings brought him to a village when he was about ten, and his life was changed forever. The village had just driven out a woman for being a witch, and Konar arrived the night of her revenge. He still can't remember clearly all that happened, but half the village was burned down and all the children, himself included, kidnapped before daybreak. The witch was not truly evil however, and she did eventually return the children, after letting their parents grieve for their loss a few weeks. Konar however, stayed. He was fascinated by her magical powers, and refused to leave until she reluctantly agreed to train him. They lived together for the next seven years, and Konar was becoming a decent wizard, when the villagers found them. It was a bloody affair, and though their combined magic would have been enough to overcome the villagers, it wasn't enough to stop the mercenaries that they had hired to take their revenge on the woman who had burned their town and stolen their children. Konar barely escaped alive, his mentor didn't. He fled into parts unknown, and was not seen by any living person for the next eight years. In his solitude, his grief and anger became hatred for the people who had killed his mentor, and contempt for all non-magical people in general. He trained himself, focusing his skills and efforts into turning his magic into a weapon of revenge. He returned to the village, and destroyed it utterly. When the time came to return to Khalathir, he went with one goal in mind, to put the mundane people in their proper place, and set those of magical talent where they belonged, as rulers.
Konar is fair, but strict in his rule. Punishments are heavy, and justice is quick. His promise of an empire where magic users are the ruling class has mages eager for his victory, though many are still afraid to come out in the open this early in his campain. While he believes that mundane people are beneath him, he not cruel to them without cause, and even has a few friends who are non-magical, though any anti-magic demenstrations will quickly bring his wrath. It is his promises of a land free of crime and chaos that has drawn in the soldiers to suppliment his mage army.
He has taken control of a small town that was being choked to death by taxes of the local lord, and has been busy fortifying it and preparing for the lord's army that will be sent to reclaim it, after he sent the tax collectors back to their master with nothing, not even the clothes they arrived with.
troop composition:
50 spell casters, which are the heart of Konar's army. By combining their magic, they can lay waste to hundreds of enemy troops, or burn a town right down to it's foundations.
50 spearmen, armed with long pikes and light armor, the first line of defense for the mages
100 heavy infantry, armed with swords and heavy shields, their job is protect the mages with their lives.
30 scouts, mounted. Armed with bows and short swords, they aren't meant to join battle, but to keep Konar updated.
