Pinata did indeed have some tricks up his sleeve, and he figured Caelen could appreciate this next one... raising his hand skyward with the palm up, Pinata conjured a spore cloud. The spores not only got into the demon's nose and mouth, choking it, but also created a thick yellow mist around the enemy's head, impenetrable even by the enhanced sense of sight most demons enjoyed. The enemy flailed unsuccessfully while Pinata and Caelen continued attacking it, landing several more hits. But while the demon was pretty badly wounded now, they would need something bigger to make it stay down. Pinata hoped that one of them could think of something soon.

Pinata nodded to Caelen as the weretiger appeared on the demon commander's other side... words weren't always the best thing in a fight, but the gesture spoke a thousand words, from "I respect you" to "I'm glad you're still alive" all the way through to "Thanks for the assist". He saw blood dripping from the commander's arm and realized Caelen had wounded it... so that was even more help than Pinata could have hoped for. Raising his blade and watching as flames surrounded it, Pinata attacked the demon commander again, hoping that Caelen would attack at the same time and confuse the enemy.
(OOC: In case it hasn't happened before, Pinata's sword flaming is a mark of the unique magical properties of goblin silver... it imbibes that which strengthens it. All that means is that the blade has been on fire by more natural means at some point, enjoyed being on fire, and decided to add that to its repertoire of magical abilities.)

Pinata plummeted down from one of the spires, landing none too gently on the back of one of the other commanders, driving his sword into the back of the demon's neck. It snarled in agonized rage and flung him aside, and he rolled to his feet and faced the enemy head-on. "Up close, you're much less impressive," he said. The demon roared and charged him. Pinata laughed and easily dodged the strike, whacking the demon on the rear with his sword as it staggered past. He had no idea how to seal the creature after killing it, and therefore needed to keep it alive long enough for someone more knowledgeable to come along and help.

What'd this site ever do to inspire hatred? We haven't waged war on any other sites, we're generally nice people, our admin is really hot (had to slip it in there ;D)... we're the good guys, dammit!

"Well, I guess it's into the garbage chute, flyboy," Pinata muttered, quoting a film from his home plane even though he knew Caelen and Vex wouldn't get the reference. With that, he slid into the vent and made his way into the castle. Almost immediately upon entering the castle, he heard voices speaking to him. He thought he recognized some of them. "Sod off," he growled at them, but instead of growing quiet they intensified.
And then, she appeared in front of him. Madeline, who he knew was dead, no doubt trying to coax him into hell. He ran her through with his sword -- the sword that bore her name -- and marched on without even breaking stride. Never compromise, even in the face of armageddon. Behind him, Madeline's face melted off as the illusion broke and the creature Pinata had killed revealed itself to be a demon.
(OOC: I figured the illusions might not work on Pinata very well... after all, you can't really drive a sociopath insane. And yes, the "never compromise..." line is a Watchmen quote.)

We're in the courtyard outside of the castle, but inside the keep, regrouping on a spire at ground level Huh. Do I need to edit, then?

Pinata pretty much knew what was coming, and warned the dryads -- who, being related to trees, feared fire -- not to look. He knew Wolfe would have to concentrate to keep the spell going, and he nodded and said, "Mammoth and I can handle things. Just keep giving them hell." He looked around at the spire they were near, searching for an entry point into the castle. There was a bit of grating, presumably for ventilation -- presumably because the smell wafting up from the grating was the worst thing that had ever assaulted Pinata's nostrils -- and Pinata launched a kick at it, causing it to collapse inward. "Good, old-fashioned air vent entry," he said. "Mammoth, can you fit in here?" He gestured into the vent, which was larger than some others he had seen but still probably a tight fit for the barbarian.

Pinata spotted Caelen -- make that several Caelens -- cutting their way toward him, and smiled tightly. It was good to know that Caelen hadn't exaggerated when he said he was a "master" of illusion... the word did indeed suit someone powerful enough to conjure up that sort of complex magic. "The castle's enchanted with magic to change the terrain," he told the dryads. "It's time we showed them how to really manipulate the earth." The dryads nodded, and while several of the green-skinned female soldiers sliced and diced their way through the enemy formation a couple of others starting channeling powerful green magic. Vines wrapped around the castle and started crushing portions of it, holes in the earth sealed themselves back up, and as the corruption in the soil was removed flowers started to sprout up. In general where all hell had broken loose before, now all Eden was breaking loose.
He turned to Caelen and started cutting a path toward him. Once the two had met in the middle, he smiled again and asked, "Are any of you injured?" There were still several illusionary forms, each identical to the real Caelen, fighting alongside the weretiger.

Pinata nodded to the dryads once Wolfe was near the gate. "Archers, we need a distraction," he said. Arrows rained down on the minions, sending many of them scattering. Pinata and a small group of dryads holding melee weapons charged down the hill and toward the gate, not stopping for prolonged engagements but simply knocking enemies aside. The doors exploded outward, and the wolf came within a couple feet of colliding with the dryad running in front of Pinata. Then it wheeled around and went back inside the castle, smashing its way through the ranks of the enemy once more.
Pinata and the remaining dryad soldiers slipped inside the open gate before it could reform, and were immediately assailed by a horde of demons. The enemy's numbers were so great that Pinata couldn't even see whether Mammoth, Caelen and Vex had made it in.
(Which, of course, allows you to post the story of how you got in yourselves.)

(I don't see why anyone would have a problem with that post. *shrugs*)
Pinata didn't bother to point out that some people here didn't serve male deities -- or that making peace with a female deity would require a rather prolonged personal visit of the clothing-optional variety, and they really didn't have time for that sort of thing right now. The time for humor had passed, and the time for battle had finally come. "Wolfe, clear us a path," he said. He wondered how the others would react to the transformation Wolfe needed to undergo in order to get the rest of them into the castle.

Pinata took one of the skins, scanning it with a practiced eye. It gave off a strong essence of blue magic, and he realized that if Caelen had performed the spell on this skin himself then the weretiger was either quite powerful already or was going to become so in the future. Either way, he was glad Caelen wasn't fighting for the enemy.
"Thank you," he said. "This will come in handy." It had been a long time since Pinata had employed subtlety, but he had been good enough at it once. It would come back to him. Remembering Wolfe's warning, he figured that once inside the castle a lot of things would come back to him.
(OOC: I'll let someone else give the order to begin. Feel free to control those dryads if you can think of something useful for them to do... they're independent creatures, not under Pinata's control, so it won't be godmodding if you post their actions.)

"Sorry," Pinata said as Caelen accepted the offer of a handshake. "My name's Pinata." He paused for a moment as the weretiger went through a list of his apparently considerable talents, then asked, "You said you can perform enchantment and illusion magic. Can you counter such magic as well?" What Wolfe had said about things not being what they seem inside the castle seemed a bit more important now that there might be a way around it. Of the gloves he said nothing... they were an impressive piece of equipment, but they reminded him uncomfortably of Arthos' weaponry. He likewise didn't comment on Mammoth's statement that they didn't have the benefit of an army... a few dozen Dryads was more an extra-large commando team than an actual army, so the statement was technically correct.
