** Me and Ze **
The biggest war the world had ever seen, or so the scholars and historians called it, referring to the chaos as it would have been at the time of the the creation of the world itself. The whole world had stood up against the evil that had challenged the balance. Every fighter, human and some, not so human were here at the place where it was to be decided, who controlled the world. Would it be Viviana, the brutal witch who had destroyed everything in her path till now using armies so vast they drank rivers dry. Or would it be Alayna, the queen who had taken command of the holy army after the assassination of the wizard king Hados by Viviana?
The wizards stayed back during the battles as it took time for them to cast their destructive spells all the while protected by their holy guardians. The guardians were equipped with enough magical spells to stop the less powerful spells and trained well enough to shield the wizards from those who made it through the front line, men and beasts.

Cardea sighed as she watched the empty fields.
She should have paid more attention, then she wouldn't have been caught off guard as the battle started. Cardea soon got a wound to her shoulder, but fought back and disposed of her attacker, charging into the battle.
Cardea ran through the battle and masses of people, taking down an enemy on occasion, but her eyes were continuously searching for certain people.
Then she saw one person and ran over to them from behind, not saying anything and just knocking them out, dragging them from the battlefield and then going back in to search and fight.

The commanders were being targeted leaving the guardians leaderless which created major gaps in the defense of the wizards. The mutated beasts eventually broke through the guardians and mauled the defenseless wizards. Seeing their own commander's neck being pierced by an arrow, the guardians in his unit hesitated in their defense. Oden took charge as he saw the gaps forming.
Signaling with his claymore and shouting out orders, he tried his best to close the gaps but not everyone complied in time. The guardians to the left didn't see a sorcerer cast a bolt of dark energy at the wizard. As soon as the bolt hit the wizard he screamed and burst into a black smoke like a phoenix dying.
"Dammit!", Oden shouted in frustration and anger, slicing a beast in half as its jaws tried to bite the flat edge of his shield. He looked around and saw the wizards falling one after the other. Very soon there will be none left. How could this happen?

Cardea made her way this way and that through the battle, constantly moving to avoid detection and attacks.
On occasion she saw someone and would knock them out, and like before, drag them off the field. She did that with a few people she found, but then she couldn't find any others.
After that was done Cardea focused on the battle, taking out who she could, and helping who needed it.
She saw one of the few commanders remaining in a bit of trouble and raced over to him, getting rid of the ones attacking him and then letting him go off again to go after those in charge of Viviana's army, and maybe even Viviana herself.

Pretty soon there was a large group of guardians, now suddenly without anybody to protect. No one wanted to take charge so Oden stepped forward again. He hated this but he would be d**ned if he let them die like this. Even though he was one of the youngest in battle, he was by no means the weakest and the guardians here knew that.
He clanged his shield with his sword twice and blessed his sword again, which glowed with the energy flowing into the sword through his hand. He looked back to see if he had caught the others attention. They all followed in the same ritual and some younger ones nodded at him.
He ordered some of them to go and help protect the generals. The rest would follow him to the front line. They would do better than the normal soldiers in pushing forward, maybe giving someone a chance to get to the witch.
The guardians stepped forward in a single file and started making short work of the opposition. Viviana frowned as he saw the change in the battlefield. She hadn't expected the guardians to come forward and start pushing. For an instance her eyes met Oden's and she smiled. It was time.
The next instant, there was a bright flash where the witch queen had stood and when the flashed subsided, the queen seemed to have disintegrated in the blast of light.
"Retreat! retreat! The queen's dead!"

As the other side began to retreat, Cardea stood still, catching some of the stragglers on occasion that passed by her. She wanted their numbers even smaller incase they ever thought to fight again, queen or no queen.

Its was a welcome surprise to hear the shout but it was highly unexpected. A lot of the force rushed forward energized by the impending victory.
He just stood there frowning, looking around at the carnage, the dead bodies of men and beasts, the ground covered with blood.

Cardea continued to take out the opposing army as they passed by her.
But then they were all passed her, and her own side charged past, chasing them, and Cardea just stood back and watched.
The war was over, queen was dead.
She took a second to look around at the ones she had pulled aside and saw they were ok. Still knocked out, but they were ok. It was a great relief to her.
She then put her blades away and walked away from the battlefield. Cardea saw a guardian standing back and watching. Her eyes watched him curiously for a bit, but she continued to walk.

He sheathed the claymore and the shield on his back. The remaining army charged forward leaving a single female warrior behind. He turned to look at her. She seemed relieved as well. He kept watching her as she looked at him and then walked away. He approached a few of the enemy lying around on the ground near her. He bent down to check on a few of them. They were still alive.
He turned to look at the girl walking away and spoke, "Why didn't you kill them?"

"they can't fight. others running were still able to defend themselves and fight back. How is it fair to kill someone while they're unconscious? Killing someone when they can fight back is fine, but killing someone when they can't is cowardly."
she hoped he left them be.

"They were here to kill us and for that they deserve death, nothing else." He frowned as he unsheathed his sword. "You wont mind if I do it?" It was a simple test.

"don't." she said quickly, "the war's over, and if it had gone the other way, would you want someone to say that you deserve to die just because you came here to kill them? Imprison them, put them away, make them work. But don't kill them... enough people have died."

Either he was being paranoid or he had just discovered a spy in their army who had suddenly found herself without a master. He put his sword back into its sheath on his back and got up to his feet. He raised his hand towards the few soldiers with the general's guard and pointed at the enemy soldiers in front of him.
They would be interrogated and then put into the dungeons. He turned to the girl again and spoke, "I am Oden. Who are you?", he asked blunty, the frown not yet completely gone from his face.

"I'm Cardea." she said simply, nodding her head to him for a little respect, but never taking her eyes off of him.

The General's carriage approached the pair at that moment. Oden took his eyes off Cardea, leaving a lingering gaze and turned towards the General and bowed.
"Well done Guardian. I saw everything and I should let you know that I will personally recommend you for the highest honor in our army."
He bowed but didn't say anything.
Turning to Cardea, he spoke again, "You did good too, capturing the enemy. We will interrogate them and find out the location of their troops, not that it matters much now. I will speak to our queen about a similar reward. Well done both of you." The general seemed to be in a good mood.
