"Don't be silly. Even if we are caught, there isn't much of a family here. More or less, its me keeping my mom..." She hesitated, choking up on her own words. May was hesitant to talk about her mother's various... issues. But Jason was trustworthy, and she loved him; what could go wrong? "Its basically me keeping my mom sane right now. I think if she'd lost me in the foster homes, she would probably have gone off the deep end. What kind of family has the kid keeping her mother in..."
Again she choked up, this time because of the memories. "Lets not talk about this now, shall we?" May quickly changed the subject. "So anyways, if you want until the trial, feel free to stay here. I'll try to talk to the people downtown if I can tomorrow. There's gotta be some sort of sanction that they can give you or something... Besides, if the person who was supposedly attacked by you says that you are innocent, then they'd at least have to consider it, right? Anyways, make yourself comfortable in the other room, and I'll go tell my mom. I'm sure once I explain things to her, she'll understand."
Skipping out of the room, she put her laptop down nearby on a box that had yet to be opened, not even bothering to turn it off or anything or even to open it up and look at the message that was waiting on there. May entered her mother's room after a knock where her mom was, classifieds in one hand and a pen in her mouth, and said "Hey mom, can I talk to ya for a second?"

"Yes I guess that they might believe...", he didn't raise the subject again, that which May wasn't willing to talk about. He smiled as he realized it would probably make the people go crazy if they knew he was living here! He thought he should go try to find the 'other room'. As he reached the door he saw something on a table that didn't belong in the room. As he got close enough to read the description, he frowned. Anti-depressants. He put the bottle back down.
It had just hit him that she would have had this depression from before she moved here. Her life was more screwed up them she let on. This also meant that the tough act she pulled around people was a mere act to keep people from knowing how vulnerable she really was. He decided to make sure she would never need these again. But for now, he would leave it there, reluctantly. He walked to the door and opened it, only to jump back in surprise. A small girl, the same one he had seen yesterday, had slowly and calming walked past the door. He thought she had looked at him but he couldn't be sure. He shook his head and peered out of the room but she had dissapeared. He came out of May's room and closed the door behind him. As he stood in the hallway, he realized he didn't know where the room was, the one he was supposed to go to.
He thought it was best to get something to eat as he was starving. So he started to walk towards the kitchen...

The talk didn't last long, as May had pretty much convinced her mother to overlook anything and everything, although she would still have to explain to her why there was a big hole in the wall... Going back upstairs to meet Jason, she found that he wasn't there. Stopping for a moment, May tried to think about where he could have gone... Oh, of course...
Skipping down to the kitchen, May looked about and, seeing him eating the kitchen whole, giggled and left. Grabbing a marker and paper, she wrote a sign on the piece of paper and used a piece of tape to stick it to the wall clearly across from the steps: "<---- Your room ^-^". Of course, she wanted to speak with him first before night fell, as they would need some sort of strategy here soon. That, and she just wanted to be near him... she didn't want to sleep in separate rooms from him, but she would, if only because she didn't want a repeat of what happened with her last 'boyfriend'... That man got what he wanted and left, though; Jason wouldn't be leaving, May knew, and she didn't plan on telling him about her past, at least not those parts of it. Even if it was her dirty little secret forever, she would never compromise what they were having together, and bear her own sins alone...

Jason was too hungry to care that he was probably emptying out the house of any edible food. Once he had had his fill, he drank some water and left the kitchen. He looked around hoping not to see the girl walking around again, and he didn't.
He climbed up the stairs taking two steps at a time. As he reached the top step and looked up, he smiled. He saw the note stuck to the wall. He looked around and spotted 'his' room. He thought he would at least go thank May again for the room. He knocked on her room door and waited.

"What the hell?" After wandering around his house for a while he found an old jewlery box. It obviously wasn't his mothers, as it was loaded with cigars. And a set of keys. There was one that looked like it belonged to a car.
There wasn't a brand name on it, but he thought that the racing flag design looked familiar. He picked up the keys and headed to the door to the garage. He tried a few before the lock clicked open. He pulled out the keys and opened the door.
He dropped his keys and stopped to stare at the car sitting in front of him. "That's why he never wanted me in the garage....." The thing was a corvette. Black with silver trim, and the silver raven symbol on the roof. He unlocked it and got in, just looking around inside. He saw a picture of when his parents were still alive and picked it up. He got out of the car and took the picture with him, putting it in a drawer in his room.
He colapsed in his bed, honestly stunned by the whole thing. "And to think. No more than a month ago I was sitting in an old beaten up house with a pair of drunk druggies......"

"I'm right here, silly." May peeked her head out from the 'secret' room, obviously not quite so afraid of it anymore. "Just trying to figure out how to get this door back on its hinges. You really did a number on it with that body slam. Could be a while before we can get it fixed..."
She pondered for a second a simple thought, but quickly ignored it as she came up to meet Jason. "If you're here to apologize for anything, or to thank me for something, save it. I'm sure you would do the same thing if our situations were reversed. Besides..." She stood on her toes, planting a short kiss on his lips before saying "You're the one following along here." Retreating with a stifled giggle, she turned back to her room for a moment, picking up her laptop as she went inside, leaving the door open in case Jason wanted inside. Plugging the computer into its rightful dock as she laid down on her bed, she finally saw the mail message and opened it...
"Eeek! Bodies?! That's just.... well, too creepy!! I'll have to look around some more then... at least if I ever want these things to leave. Still... that one girl... if her body is still here, then it's gotta be nearly gone by now, wouldn't it? I mean... she seemed older than the others I've seen so far... Oh! I never got the chance to show you the camera I found... Its old, like as old as the house, but it looks like it came from elsewhere than here. I'll have to check for a mark, but I think its from a different country, maybe somewhere in Europe perhaps?"

Jason turned around to see May sticking her head out of the room and smiled. "Sorry about that door again." He looked closely at the hinges. "They are not broken. I can fix it easily. I have no clue about that magnetic lock though so you probably still wont be able to lock it once I am done..."
He didn't say anything after she kissed him. He didn't know how to react except maybe grab her and kiss her again. But he didn't. He was thinking that they were probably not ready for what would follow.
As she entered her room and checked her email, he stood over her looking at what was written over her shoulder. "Bodies huh, well we will have to get them out or you will probably go mad in this place. Hmm, you have a basement right? You want to check it out? I suppose that would be the best place to start if you really were looking for bodies...", he said smiling.
Well, I know what the camera does and as long as it keeps doing that, we are good. Oh, and you should definitely bring it along if we do go to the basement."
He couldn't wait any longer. The question had been stuck in his mind since he had seen the bottle. He turned around and walked to the table. He picked up the bottle, looked at it for a moment and then handed it to her. "May... you wanna tell me about this?", he said looking at her seriously.

May stopped dead in her typing tracks, staring at the bottle as if Jason were handing her a dead rat. For an instant, she wanted to deny everything, to tell him that it wasn't hers... but the cap laid on the floor a few feet away, and her looking at it would give it away. Her life was f**ked up as it was... she didn't want to face her own problems. Which was probably the only reason she'd fallen for Jason so quickly; someone else with a life as messed up as her own, someone she could help out to help herself forget the issues she faced...
"I... I..." she stammered, tears clouding her vision; she couldn't think, she couldn't speak... all the strong, kind May could do was stare at merely a part of her own problems. Suddenly, she screamed out of an unknown anger "I have my problems too, you know?! Why do I have to be the strong one, the quiet one who suffers silently because she's too-" Tears poured out as she abruptly stopped, her eyes closing and sniffles coming to her as she finished softly "Because she's too weak to admit it... that she's not perfect...."
She threw her head into her hands, the depression she'd been fighting back coming to her as she shook violently, wracked by sobbing and tears, pain that she'd been suppressing for so long... "Jason... please..." she whined, wanting only for him to embrace her, because there was nothing else he could do for her...

*Brilliant Jason, you HAD to open your mouth...* he scolded himself as he saw May suddenly break into an outburst and then break down. He put his arms around her and pulled her close to himself in a tight embrace.
"Hey, I am very sorry. I promise I won't ever ask you anything about your past, alright?", he used his hand to tilt her face upwards and gave her a long kiss hoping it would calm her down. He was no stranger to depression. He knew fully well what happened if the person couldn't recover from it, and he was determined not to let that happen to May.
"You are not alone anymore...", he said as they parted, putting the bottle out of sight.

May was taken off-guard by the kiss, a tear trickling down her face and onto his as her crying slowed. It was strange; normally, she would have resisted such a thing, but right now, she accepted it eagerly; when he pulled back, she wanted more, her eyes sparkling like a child who'd just been given a lollipop. But there was other stuff to do, and romance could wait for later, however painfully obvious it was that she wanted more than that one kiss... "Thank you... Its alright though... I should tell you everything I guess..."
She sat down after he let go, using her sleeve to wipe the tears from her eyes. "On top of everything else, about a year ago I was in another relationship, and it only went from bad to worse. The guy I was with could only think about sex, sex, and more sex, but he lived right down the street, which obviously caused several problems; namely, him sneaking around my yard at night trying to get me to come out to him. That started about a week after I tried to end it all; one night, he just snapped. He broke in, stormed up to my bedroom, and... and..."
Tears started streaming down her face, the horrible memories flooding out finally after all this time. "Oh Jason... he raped me. He just plain raped me then and there. I tried to get away but he kept coming after me, completely drunk and angry... And-an-an-and there was the knife... it was the only think I had... The police said it was self-defense, but I still killed him!! He was too drunk to fight back, too drunk to control himself... That's when the pills started... and then... then... then about three weeks after that, I found out..."
Her lips trembled, her entire body shook in fact as she tried to get out the next words, failing... Finally, she simply said "Jason, I'm four months away from having a baby..." Having said those words, she felt her stomach and broke down completely, sobbing uncontrollably...

As they parted he could feel May lean slightly forward. He stood as she told him about her past. As he listened to her, he felt anger rise in him, then change to joy as she told him that she had killed the guy, then to empathy as he realized how hard it must have been on her.
But he wasn't ready for what came next. He just stood there for a moment, shocked and fearful at the same time. Four months? She wasn't even 18 yet! This was also probably the reason she had moved to this town. He snapped out of his daze and saw her sobbing. He sat next to her and put an arm around her shoulder. He didn't know what to say to her. He was too scared that whatever he would say might make it worse. He had so many questions in his mind. But he didn't really want the answers to them.
"May...", he paused for a long time, "tell me, what is it I can do... to help you? Are you going to..." He didn't have the courage to finish the sentence. How could he ask whether she was going to have the baby? After all this, how could he interrogate her like this? That would be the last thing she would want.

She nodded carefully, tears never ceasing but her body relaxing at his acceptance of it. "Jason... I want to have the child, whatever it may be... I don't want to abort it, but then again, how can I have the child for myself?! I'm so scared... so much going on all at once... so many problems... why... But its alright." She wiped the tears from her eyes, pulling back for a moment, then returned the kiss he had just given her, more passionate than before. Moving her head to the side, she rest her chin on his shoulder, saying "Jason, its alright.. I'm sure we'll get this mess sorted out before too long and have your name cleared. I know there's something going on, and I won't stand by and wait for it to come to us. I've got an idea, and it could get us into worse trouble, but..."
Pulling back, she stared into her eyes, a feminine determination clearly glistening in her eyes. "All I need to know is if you're willing to do anything to clear your name, and I mean anything..." It was a rhetorical statement, of course, but one that needed saying. The next four months would be pure hell for May, and the question pertained to those too, albeit somewhat indirectly... in short order, she had just asked him if he was ready for all this...

Jason moved his hand and placed it over her head. "They took my life and my dignity away from me. I would do anything to get it back, even if it means...", he paused as he had just realized the full scope of the question, "Well, I will do anything, period. Also, it is completely up to you to decide what you want to do about the baby. You know, you are not weak. It takes a lot of courage to make a decision like this. And I admire you even more for it. I want you to know that I will stand by you and whatever you decide no matter what happens."
But he was very concerned about this pregnancy. He knew that there was a very high risk to May's life if she decided to go ahead with it. "May, I am just worried about you right now. I dont want to lose you, I... I wont be able to take it. All I ask is, consider everything before you make a decision...please."

She glanced at Jason. "I've been considering for so long... I don't want to die either, really. But sometimes... well, I just cannot stop myself from doing something foolish..." Lightly shaking the thoughts from her head, she stated "Now then..."
Turning to her laptop, she began typing, mainly just to get her mind off of every, but also to concentrate as she spoke. "Obviously, that tape was falsified, and most likely they destroyed the original. However, if this is what I think it is, there should be a back-up hard drive for everything, something most people..." She glanced up at Jason; May wasn't exactly the good little girl some people thought her to be. "Something some people don't know about. Not even most security guards know about it. However, every 400 hours or so, the hard drive is erased, or the system switches to a new hard drive if one is available, whether the old one is full or not. It seems, though, that this camera system is brand new... I think you were set up, Jason. We need that hard drive, or moreover the snippet from it."
Continuing on, she typed furiously, attempting to access the school's network from the house via a home-made hack. "Also, I want to have a look at that prick of a principle's computer. There needs to be some alterior motive for all of this, something beyond him just hating you... I'm sure those thug boys are in on it." Receiving an error message, she swore, then sighed... She was a fair hacker, but apparently there had been a professional who'd installed their anti-hacker programs. "Looks like I won't be getting it from here..." She thought for a second, trying to think about what to do next...

He saw her go to her laptop and started to hack into the school system. He didn't know much about hacking, but he did pat attention at school and read up a bit more when it was something interesting. He realized she was very good at it but she couldn't get through the firewall. Suddenly something struck him.
"I am just going to use your cell...", he picked up the cell dialing the number from memory. It rang for a few times before a female voice answered. "Hi Diana, how are you doing?... Yeah well, you know that can't be true right?....", he smiled, "Thanks for the support. Listen, I need a favor...Can you tell me the principle's password?... Yeah I know...", he laughed, "... it can't get any worse now can it?" He kept a mental note of the password she gave him. "... Thanks a lot Diana, you are a lifesaver. I owe you big time... uh, again... ", he smiled as he heard what she asked him to do in in return. "...oh come on... Goodbye Diana." He cut the call and realized he would have a bit of explaining to do to May about that call.
"That a**hole's password is 'superpower7'...", he spoke before turning to look at May.
