I'll join, but I have no clue what is up with it, what a Lycan is, etc. If someone could explain that, I would be more than happy to join.

Definitely not a problem. I'd suggest renting the movie but I'll give you a summary.
For the better part of a thousand years, a war has raged between Lycans and Vampires. Lycans are werewolves that can change at will, not just during the full moon. Only silver or unhealable wounds (like cutting off their heads) will kill them. Only daylight (the Lycans have developed ultraviolet bullets which have the same effect) or unhealable wounds will kill Vampires. Both species have the ability to bite a human and turn them. However, if a human is bitten by both species, the human will die.
Lycans were once the daylight guardians of vampires and watched them while they slept. However, when a Lycan fell in love with a Vampire and there was a chance of the species mingling, the Vampires started the war with the Lycans.
Recently, the Lycans have come up with a way to mix Vampire with Werewolf but there's only one man with such a mix at the moment. So those Vampires that don't wish for a blending of the species (basically all of them) continue to hunt down and kill Lycans.
Any questions so far?

This all takes place during modern times so think about technology kinda like from any normal action movie. Vampires fight with swords, various throwing weapons, and guns loaded with either silver bullets or silver nitrate bullets (liquid silver nitrate immediately enters the bloodstream of a Lycan making it impossible to dig the bullets out and avoid death). Lycans use guns loaded with either regular bullets or ultraviolet bullets or they just use their teeth and claws.

Something else I forgot to mention. Vampires in the city where the story takes place (mostly) live in a large, rather gothic mansion. Lycans live in underground settlements... Kinda like sewer/subway tunnel level so they have easy access to the surface.

Which is my opinion is sorta strange cause Lycans should be the ones living in mansions given their ability to change at random. They are more human in that way.
And vampyrs (Buffy thing...dont ask me to explain why i spell it that way.) be the ones who get the sewer access.

Ooh, I know the posts on this are like, really, really old, but I just gotta open my big mouth!
Your usual fictional vampire is far too PROUD to live in a grungy place like sewers and tunnels. Them being so PROUD is also part of why the Vamp/Lycan war started. Vamps felt threatened by the possible merging of the two races into something that not only could end up stronger than they, but also they were revolted by the very idea. They consider themselves much better than the Lyncans (and yet they had to steal Lycan tech to equal back out, lol).
Ok, shutting up. That's prolly been well figured out by now.
