Oh, filling in isn't a problem! Trust me, I love to talk. : And I know lots of names, but they're not Elvish, so.... yeah. I've got non-Elvish names! Go me! Sorry, I'm a little over-happy tonight.

Ooh! Name picking! I love name picking! Hold up a few minutes and I'll give you some suggestions.
And don't worry, I haven't read the books either, except for the Silmarillion (which has some of this stuff anyway). I'm mostly just going by timelines at CoE.

I'll use Magor. That's simple enough. Thanks Kait.

Any time, mate! :thumb:
Ok so we've got:
* two elves and probably one human at the moment * starts in Rivendell * either about the Last Alliance, the fall of Minas Ithil, or the gathering of the White Council to discuss Dol Guldur
Am I missing anything so far?

I don't think your missing anything.
How about the Last Alliance one. Isn't that where the elves and men joined forces to fight Sauron?

Yeah but like I said, if we do it it will be mostly behind the scenes stuff and the events that led up to the battle. If the rp continues long enough then we'll probably reach the battle eventually but it took a few years after the alliance was formed to get to that point... I think. I'll have to go check the CoE timeline for the exact dates. But if we do that, then I want to start out with the Alliance arriving in Rivendell to rally the elves there and start preparing for the march to Mordor. I already know that's Ven's favorite choice out of the three plots. Is it yours too?

Yeah, that seems like the best one.

Ok. Well in that case, we'll go with that one unless others join that want a different course of action. Here's the dates:
3430: The Last Alliance of Elves and Men is formed. 3431: Gil-galad and Elendil march east to Imladris. 3434: The host of the Alliance crosses the Misty Mountains. The Battle of Dagorlad and defeat of Sauron. The siege of Barad-dûr begins. 3441: Sauron is overthrown by Elendil and Gil-galad, who perish. Isildur takes the One Ring. Sauron passes away and the Ringwraiths go into the shadows. The Second Age ends.
So we would start at about 3431/3432 of the Second Age.

Okay. That seems like a good place to start.
just one question. How old should I make my elf? Don't they have powers that they don't die of old age or something?

Yeah, elves only get wiser and more beautiful with age. They don't get diseases either. They can only die from being fatally wounded or from grief. My character's already hundreds of years old when this takes place.

From grief?
Sooo, would 300 or 500 be a good age? Too old, too young?

Yeah. If they lose whatever they care for most (usually people) then they kind of waste away from sorrow.
Whatever age you want is fine. Both those numbers are fine.
