((it's a story for my char, Eris, but she's currently under a different name in this one, and her story in here differs from the one I'm using for the rp so...ehehe...well, this is the prologue))
Prologue: Cain, Abel and Allie
There was no one else left alive in that town. After the whole incident that took countless lives, the town now became a ghost town. The buildings have all collapsed save but one and that was the chapel. It is obvious that this chapel managed to escape the whole tragedy due to the fact that it was a little ways from the town.
But then again, what really happened in this town?
Nobody knew. Even the last two survivors from that town knew nothing of that incident because the moment the tragedy started; they were shoved into the chapel and were locked in there until the whole event ended in silence.
Slowly, the door of the chapel swung open from the inside and out came two children. They gazed upon the wreck that had befallen their beloved town, and soon after that, one of them collapsed to the ground and cried. The elder brother, who was only seven years old, got down to his younger brother and tried his best to comfort him but he too felt the sorrow and could do nothing but to share his pain.
But the sound of the approaching footsteps halted their cries and they quickly turned their head to the direction of the sound.
Far off in the distance, was a figure of a woman, slowly approaching them. From their distance, the boys could tell that she was not of this town. The elder brother hid his brother behind him and stood up to defend him from this outsider.
“Stay close to me,” said the elder brother, wiping his tears from his eyes. Already, he felt like a grown man saying these words.
The woman finally stopped a few steps from them and gazed her pale blue eyes upon them, as though lamenting their fate to be survivors of this unspeakable incident that had befallen them. She was young, they realized. The woman, or to be precise, the girl, appeared to be in the form of an eighteen years old girl. Dressed in white and blue, with her long silver blonde hair, they almost thought she was some kind of goddess reincarnated. But still, goddess or not, she was still a stranger to them.
The girl approached closer, “You are both still alive?” her expressionless face broke into a relieved smile at the sight of the two, “Thank goodness,”
But the elder brother only glared at her in return for the kind smile, “Who are you?” he snarled, his face showing every bit of distrust to the girl.
Yet, his words did not threaten her least bit. Instead, she continued to smile and spread out her arms to them, “I am Mother, and I will care for you. At least…it’s the least thing I can do right now after all that has happened,”
“How can you just come up to us and call yourself Mother?” he yelled back, “You barely even know us, nor do you even know what has happened to our home!”
She sighed softly and rests her hand to her side, “I do know…what has happened, my dears,”
Despite all that has happened, the younger one still had the courage to speak out, “Then…do you know where our real Mother is? Is she still alive?”
“Can’t you see? Everyone’s gone!” yelled the elder one out of frustration, “There’s no one there anymore!”
The girl’s smile ceased to a sorrowful look at the words of the two brothers, “At least, you’re both still alive. I suppose the gods gave me a final chance of atonement…through you both,”
“What do you mean by that?” asked the elder one.
“Never mind that,” she smiled once again, “Will you both come with me? Will you…let me save you?”
He was still hesitant at this, and with the younger brother crying again behind him, it made him unable to think properly, “Why do you want us?” when he was finally able to ignore his brother’s cries, he questioned her again, “Or better yet, what do you want from us?” again, the distrustful look.
She shook her head softly and took another step forward, “I only want to care for you both, and it is all I ask of you. So, please…”
Just then, they heard the rustles of the bushes from behind the girl. At that moment, he noticed that her kind face suddenly turned stone cold at the disturbing sound. She slowly glanced to the left and out came a creature, scrambling its way to the steps of the church. It was staring at the boys with its beady eyes, oblivious to the fact that the girl was right behind it.
“Get…get away from us!” cried the elder one, taking one step back as the creature approached. The younger one cried even louder at the sight of the creature looking at them hungrily.
It got closer; ignoring the elder’s terrified threats, it lunged. But just as it was about to reach them, the creature suddenly stop midair, and the next thing he saw was the creature disappearing into thin air. He looked to the girl standing behind the creature and saw that she had her left hand in the air, her face sparing no expression of mercy.
She slowly rests her raised hand to the side and her face returned to the one the saw before, “They are the result when one tampers with the world’s fate,” she said, her voice noting a sort of mystery behind her words.
The elder brother’s eyes widened in bewilderment, his eyes still locked to the girl’s left hand. On it, he saw a glowing black mark that had slowly ceased to a normal tattoo. “What…what was that?”
“It’s nothing you have to be concerned of. Besides,” she turned away, “It is a sin to my foolish actions, and because of this action, it has taken so many innocent lives. It is my burden,”
The younger brother raised his wet face to the girl and ran to her, “Mother! Mother!” he cried, “You saved us!”
She got on her knees and caught the young one in her arms, wrapping it around his small body tightly, “Little one,”
The elder, however, was still stricken by her previous actions and words. Now that he saw his brother in the girl’s arm, he too felt like he wanted a piece of love that she has offered. But by accepting this girl, he felt as though he might betray his family’s love, especially his mother’s.
The girl carried the younger one in her arms and climbed the steps to where the elder one stood fixed to the floor. His eyes seemed lost, and his mind confused, “It is up to you, my dear. But believe me; I want to care for you both,”
Finally, the distrust that was in his face slowly faded. Yet, the hesitance remained, “Before…I go with you,” he was finding this very hard to say it out, “Tell me your name, so I’ll know that you’re real,”
She smiled softly and got down to his level, “Allie,” her pale eyes seemed to give out a sort of warm radiance as she gazed into his eyes, “What about the both of you?”
The elder brother frowned, “Cain…and my brother’s Abel,”
“Cain and Abel…two very familiar names,” a soft silvery laughter escaped her lips, “I suppose that will do,”
Cain frowned, “If my brother follows you, then I’ll go to…even if I don’t want to,”
The girl who introduced herself as ‘Allie’ only smiled and took him in her arms too, like she did to Abel, “Thank you…thank you very much. I will care for you both, I promise,”
