"Save what little popularity you might have and stay out of this..."
"Sorry, but its a bit late for that. Glad to hear your concern and all, but seeing as how y'all already want me dead, I may as well save all the lives I can before I get shot." He looked straight into Chandra's eyes. "And that includes the lives of the humans unaware of this war."

*Chandra stared at him, her gun by now held at her side instead of pointed at him. This human had certainly lost his mind... Couldn't he realize that peace was impossible?* "I don't want to have to kill you... Is it really that difficult for you to just stay out of my way?"

Ann-Mei stepped behind Chandra, her glance swept over the human and then to Chandra. She had over heard the last bit of conversation before a moment of silence had set over the area.
Her orange bangs blew around her face as a slight wind began to blow around them. Her gaze locked unto the humans as she asked in her still slightly accented voice, "How is it that a human such as you, became aware of this war? From where I stand, this war is between lycans and vampyrs. Humans have no place in it. It would be disasterous for both parties, lycans and vampyrs that is."

"It would be disasterous for both parties, lycans and vampyrs that is."
Daervan grinned slightly. "I'm special ops. I was sent to investigate a so-called 'gang war'. It wasn't long before I figured out to truth behind it. I'm just trying to minimize panic and casualties. The best way to do that seems to be to try and stop this war, as sooner or later normal humans are going to figure out that their nightmares are real - nothing personal of course, I'm just referring to standard viewpoints on so-called 'mythical monsters'."

*Chandra narrowed her eyes at that.* "Monsters... nightmares... that used to be human as well. Somehow I'm beginning to think humans that shallow deserve whatever happens to them as a result of this war. And even if they don't... There's no way that one mortal like you is going to stop hundreds of warring immortals."

Daervan shrugged. "I know that. But I'm going to try anyways. And if I die, that's too bad. I've got to die sometime. But you... you don't. You weren't always a vampire, were you? Don't you ever think of those who you knew before you became immortal? Is the power of not aging worth watching those you knew shrivel up and die? Being alone without your friends? Or do you plan on turning them, subjecting them to eternity so that you would be spared some pain?

*Chandra's eyes softened for only a brief moment... She felt as though he had clenched a fist right around her heart... a heart that she didn't want to have. She tried to stay calm as she stared at him.* "My mortal friends died centuries ago and my immortal ones were all slaughtered by lycans. And don't speak so lightly of making the choice to turn someone... My brother turned me because he couldn't bare to live an immortal life without someone he loved by his side... And I couldn't blame him for that. Could you? Don't assume to know anything about how I think or feel... and don't judge my choices until you have to make them for yourself."

"Hah! Here you are, telling me not to judge people - or, to be precise, those who are somewhat more - or less- than human. Why do you judge the Lycans, then? They are far more similar to you than either race is willing to admit. Can't they ever feel anguish at having their friends killed by you and your 'superior' vampires? Or are you too stuck up and convinced you are right to ever consider the feelings of those you kill? War is never in black and white terms. Its all a shade of grey. Just like this one. You'll never win, you realize. And neither will they. Like all wars, this one will have only losers. You - your friends - your allies - the lycans - even humanity - will all lose this war."

"I don't have friends, I don't care about humanity anymore, and lycans are filthy, overgrown dogs that took what little I had left away from me and mutilated it beyond recognition. I'm going to hunt them down, have my revenge, and save the one race that has not yet hurt me. It's my only purpose in life and I will NOT have it taken away from me. You might as well forget about mercy and compassion when it comes to me because there's only one thing I am now... The friend in me, the lover, the sister... They're all dead and buried deep where no one can reach them. I'm a death dealer now... nothing more and nothing less... so stop wasting your time on me."

"So that'ts the reason," Daervan said softly. "It's about revenge, true, but its also because you have no other purpose in life. Without someone to fight, you have nothing. Shouldn't there be more to an eternal life than conflict and pain?"

*Chandra stared at him, trying so hard to act as she always did without any weakness...* "You don't get it, do you? That's all that immortality is. Constant and eternal pain. You can't make friends or you'll lose them... to mortality or to your enemies. And you can't bring them back or ever see them again unless you yourself are slain. The only comfort you get is knowing that you stopped one more filthy beast from taking someone else's brother, sister, son, daughter, mother, father, friend, or lover away... So yes... I have no other purpose than to fight them... It's the only purpose I can have. And somehow I don't think you can come up with a better one."

"I don't get it? No I think you are the one who doesn't quite get it. You claim that you have to kill the Lycans before they kill your friends. But why do you think they are killing your friends? The same reason. They can feel, just the same as you can. So why do you keep causing yourself pain? Because of this circle of death you each have made for each other. What comfort will it be to wipe out the Lycans if they wipe out everyone you ever cared about before you kill them? Wouldn't it be beter to simply stop this cycle of death, rather than feuling it?"

"You are the most stubborn, ignorant mortal I've ever met! Do you honestly think that if I stop hunting the lycans, they'll stop killing my kind?! It's too late for that! This has been going on for centuries! They all want revenge as well and unless you're planning on convincing every last one of them and every single member of my coven to let go of their hatred and forget about the pain caused by their enemies then I don't know how you could possibly think this could be stopped! And just for the record, I don't cause my pain! I live with it and deal with it! If you'd seen half the things I've seen then you'd probably be ready to take your own life and save yourself from the torment!" *Chandra briefly turned her head away, pulling herself together before looking at him again.* "I'm not going to stay out here until dawn arguing with you. It's pointless because you refuse to see that you really don't know a d**n thing about this war or the people involved in it. Do us all a favor and go stop one of the foolish wars started by your own kind. It affects you a lot more than this war ever could."

Vespertine had for some reason stayed back in the shadows, out of sight, when Ann-Mie had gone up behind Chandra. Whatever debate was currently raging on, she wanted no part in it. Keep talking, she urged them on silently.
She was thankful for that gut-instinct, sixth sense, whatever, that had made her stop. She pulled out her gun as softly as the autmn wind in a leafless tree.
That human had to make a wrong move and he'd find his head on his lap, thought Vespertine grimly. Keep talking...

Ann-Mei's eyebrow raised at his answers but the second one was also raised at Chandra's reply. With her head moving between the two, batting verbal replys like two tennis players would a tennis ball.
'Do us all a favour and go stop one of the foolish wars started by your own kind. It effects you a lot more than this war ever could.' Ann-Mei pointed at Chandra, "As she said. Believe you me, if you like your head on your shoulders, you'd keep you neck out of this."
