"I would like to do that, but I must attend to the crew as well."
*Audra nodded and watched Brigil leave. She was slightly uncomfortable being left alone with the other captain but she supposed that she would have to get used to it for now. Besides, it might give her the chance to learn more about him. She heard Gryffon sigh before he turned to her.*
"After you."
*With one last glance back in the direction of her crew's camp, she nodded. They could take care of themselves... Surely she didn't have to worry about them... Audra quickly put on a slight smirk, moving around Gryffon and beginning to walk down the beach at a rather relaxed pace. Trying to keep up her strong appearance, Audra held her head high, her eyes always focused ahead of her as she walked. She didn't want this man to think her inferior just because she was a woman. She shot a quick glance at him before speaking.* "Well then... Where to start? You already know why my crew and I are here... And you have told me that you are sailing for your business..." *She smirked slightly, remembering what Brigil had said earlier. She was tempted to ask him more about his reasons for sailing but she wasn't sure it was appropriate just yet... What would he think of her if she simply wanted to talk about personal matters? She was a captain. She was supposed to always be thinking about the well being of her crew and ship, sticking to business. Still... She sighed softly, hesitantly removing her black cavalier hat as she continued.* "There's not much to this island... It's fairly small and Miss William already told you about the game here. No inhabitants that I know of, except for the occasional pirate crew." *Her lips curved upward in a slight smile. She turned her head to look at him for a moment.* "How long will you and your crew be staying here?"

Gryffon stuffed his hands into his jacket's pockets as he followed at a comfortable pace. He studied her carefully with a half-smile. He definetely admired this woman.
He knew from experience on how near impossible it was to keep the crew under order as well as keeping their loyalty. This captain seemed to do it with close to nil effort. Even he could admire that quality.
He shook out his thoughts as she said,"....inhabitants that I know of, except for the occassional pirate crew....How long will you and your crew be stayin here?" He tilted his head slightly, considering the question. "I would say five days at most. We have to replenish our food supply. And you my lady?"

"I would say five days at most. We have to replenish our food supply. And you my lady?"
*Audra shook her head slightly, lifting her gaze to the sky. Only a little over a week until the new moon... She sighed softly before replying.* "Sometime within the next week..." *She glanced at Gryffon, considering her next words carefully. He had yet to make any remarks about her seafaring abilities which she found rather odd. Perhaps he didn't mind the fact that she was a woman? If that was the case, then she might be able to relax a little... Her questions about this man were beginning to leave her no room to think about business. Besides they had days to discuss business didn't they? Deciding that a few questions couldn't hurt, Audra turned her head to look at him as she spoke.* "How old are you, Captain? You look to be as young as I and the story of how someone so young comes to be captain of his own ship is often an interesting one. I should know."

Gryffon chuckled slightly. He was used to hearing that question about his age. "I am twenty and two years old my lady (22)." He ran a hand through his dull red hair as he continued, "I merely inherited the ship and its company when my father...dissapeared admist his travels.I had been sailing with my father for six years before he dissapeared. Many consider him dead but..." He smiled wryly as he said softly, "This world is so big and vast. I still keep hope...." His eyes went back to the seas.
He shook his head as he said, "But please. Do not call me Captain. It sounds so cold. Call me Gyffon. How old are you Captain?"

*Audra's normally cold and stormy gaze softened slightly at his words. Perhaps they had more in common than she thought.*
"But please. Do not call me Captain. It sounds so cold. Call me Gyffon. How old are you Captain?"
*Audra smiled a little, not at all sure she would be comfortable with him calling her by her first name just yet. Still, he seemed to be right. Captain did appear a little cold all of a sudden.* "The same age as you..." *She sighed, her eyes looking up at the night sky once again.* "Although I feel much older sometimes..." *She looked to him, thinking about what he had just told her about his father...* "I suppose you're used to that feeling as well..."

"I suppose you're used to that feeling as well..." Gryffon chuckled sadly, "Its a feeling I am well accquited with. But never used to it. There are often times I can never think of myself the way my father was. Often I think that I can never be the man who he was."
His green eyes studied her intently as he asked softly, "Is that perhaps why you feel much older at times?"

*Gryffon paused for a moment, his eyes studying her. Audra suddenly felt quite vulnerable. To her, he seemed to be looking though her, not at her.*
"Is that perhaps why you feel much older at times?"
*Audra stared at him for a few seconds, both surprised at his question and confused on how to answer. She quickly dropped her gaze, reluctantly nodding in reply.* "Yes... I suppose..." *She shook her head sadly.* "I know I can never be the man my father was... I'm a woman... I will never accomplish deeds so great as his." *She hesitated a moment before looking to Gryffon.* "Unlike you, I have no hope that my father is alive. I watched him die five years ago along with my mother and nearly half of the crew." *She stopped there, not so sure she should be saying all of this. She barely knew this man. She had no reason to trust him with such personal things. But still, she wanted to talk to him like this... Besides, he was sharing just as much as she was. She looked ahead of her, knowing that they would reach her crew's camp before long... A short while ago, she had been hesitant to leave... Now she was reluctant to return.*

Gryffon's eyes softened as his respect for this women grew by the moment. He could only imagine the anguish that she would have faced at seeing such death. He said softly, "I am truely sorry for you loss. I can...not even begin to imagine how that must have been like. You are indeed a women of deep courage"
He hadn't meant to say the last part but he bit his tongue after saying it. He was in for it now!

*Audra's eyes widened slightly at the last part. She stopped for a moment, turning to face him. Her eyes focused on his in silence as his words played over again in her mind. A woman of deep courage? Her? Had this really just come from the lips of a man? And a captain too! Did he really mean that or was he just trying to get her guard down? No... She knew he meant it. She suddenly felt much more a woman than a captain. She lowered her gaze, trying to hide the slight smile that crept onto her lips.* "I'm not so sure about that. I'm sure you've faced just as much as I have and handled it just as well. It's easy to see that you're a strong captain. We both know that you don't get there without courage." *With a quick glance up at him, she turned away, beginning to walk again. She was almost afraid to stay out alone with this man much longer. She didn't know what words would escape her lips if she did.* "Come. My crew is camped out not far from here..."

Gryffon could cut his own tongue out at what had slipped out of his mouth un-checked. As her eyes locked with his, he hoped silently that she would see the sincerity behind her words. She suddenly dropped her gaze and for a minute he worried that he had insulted her in one or another. For the heaven knew that there were more than a million ways one could insult another these days!
He sighed in relief as she said"I'm not so sure about that. I'm sure you've faced just as much as I have and handled it just as well. It's easy to see that you're a strong captain. We both know that you don't get there without courage."
He smiled at her compliment and began to speak but she had already began to walk away. "Come. My crew is camped out not far from here..." Gryffon could merely scramble to get behind her before he got left behind.

*It wasn't long before Audra's eyes met the sight of campfires ahead, close to the treeline instead of on the open beach. She glanced over her shoulder at Gryffon, realizing just how quick her pace was. She had let her emotions get the best of her, ruining her calm appearance. She slowed down a little, not wanting him to see just how uncomfortable she was with herself at the moment. However, she remained silent, not trusting herself to say anything to him just yet. As they neared the camp, a few of the pirates stopped what they were doing to watch their captain and this stranger. One blonde pirate began to make his way over to the pair. Audra quickly put her hat back on, her eyes going cold again as they always did when she was about to give orders. Beauregard approached her carefully, his eyes roaming over Gryffon rather coldly.*
"Where have you been, Captain? We were beginning to worry about you."
"There were some things that needed to be discussed."
"Why wasn't I called? After all, I am the ambassador."
"You were not needed this time. Don't question me Mister Royce. Now, fetch Miss Grace for me."
*With one last glance at Gryffon, Beau nodded and went off to carry out his orders. Audra looked over at Gryffon, frowning slightly.* "You'll have to forgive him... He doesn't take kindly to..." *She paused for a moment, trying to choose her words carefully.* "Certain men..." *Before either of them could say anything more, a young woman strode up to them.*
"Yes, Captain?"
"Miss Grace, keep record of this meeting tonight. Captain Aurelius and I have reached an accord and both crews will be sharing this island for the next few days."
"Yes, Captain."
*With that, Kelli Grace left to do as she had been instructed. Audra looked to Gryffon, motioning for him to follow her. They moved a little way from the camp, out of earshot. Audra stopped and turned to face him.* "Well, I think it best that we part ways for now. It's been a long day and I would like to get some rest. However, my crew and I will be having a little party here tomorrow starting at sunset. We have plenty of rum to go around after our last raid and we have quite a few good musicians. You and your crew are most welcome to join us." *She paused a moment, hesitant about what she was going to say... Still, she said it anyway.* "And should you need me for any reason before then... You know where to find me."

"Yes, Captain."
With that Kelli turn sharply and strides her way towards her tent to take record of the meeting sighing as she passed some of the crew members. Kelli reaches her tent and picks up a book writing down some things and looking out at the sea not fully focusing on her job at hand*sigh* "At least you arent the captain's wrench. Yea a lil repect and she doesn't look down at me like the others." Kelli looks back down at the book and begins her task listening to the goings on of the camp.

Gryffon bowed deeply. "We would be honored to join you and your crew. But I would not feel at peace if me and my crew were not to contribute in some way. You wouldn't mind we brought a bard along?"
Audra's eyebrow raised in surprise, "A bard did you say?"
Gryffon chuckled, "Aye. It does sound odd doesn't he? He had wanted to be a bard but his father signed him up with my ship. So he sings as he fights as well as the other way around. It is a new world after all."
He bowed again, "I will see you again tomorrow Captain." He turned back and slowly made his way back to his crew. By the time he had reached there, darkness had already fallen and his sister was pacing by a large fire. He could tell that she was agitated alright. He sighed as she dropped question after question on his head. This was going to be a long night.

"I will see you again tomorrow Captain."
*Audra watched Gryffon leave in the direction of his camp. She stared after him quite some time, deep in thought. This man certainly was interesting... She wasn't at all sure how to react to him. Audra was brought back to reality as a shout of laughter erupted from her camp. She turned her head toward the area, spotting a group of pirates sitting around in a circle... She shook her head a little, knowing that they were probably gambling again. With a sigh, she made her way through the camp, heading to the largest fire where Alden was serving dinner. After removing her hat, Audra waited her turn before grabbing a plate, settling under a nearby tree to eat. When each member of the crew had been given their meal, Alden joined her.*
"How'd it go, miss?"
*Audra smiled a little at her old friend.* "Very well... I've invited them all to our little party tomorrow night. You'll have to make sure that no one drinks the rum until then, otherwise we might not have enough." *Alden nodded slowly.*
"Aye... That I'll do... Still... I'm surprised at ye, Audra."
*Raising an eyebrow, she turned fully to look at him.* "What do you mean?"
"Firs' ye back down from a fight--"
*Audra immediately interrupted although she honestly didn't know why. She had nothing to prove, did she?* "I only backed down to avoid bloodshed. That's not at all unusual for me."
"No... But then ye went off with that cap'n alone. He could've turned on ye and then ye'd have no one to help ye."
*Audra frowned, turning away from him again.* "I wouldn't have needed help. I can take care of myself."
"Now ye know I didn't mean it like that, Cap'n. It's just not like ye to take risks like that."
*Audra sighed and shook her head, rising to her feet.* "There was no risk, Alden. We can trust them." *She began to walk away but Alden had one more thing to say.*
"How do ye know that?"
*Audra stopped, dropping her head slightly. After a moment of silence, she glanced over her shoulder at the old cook.* "I don't..." *Audra made it to her tent without any delay, closing the flaps and lying down at her mat. She stared up at the cloth roof of her tent, wondering if Alden was right. Should she really trust Gryffon and his crew so much?*

*Next Day*
Gryffon was highly tempted to pull his hat over his ears just to block out the constant ramblings of his sister. It was times like these he wished that he had never agreed to let her on with his crew.
He slowed down his pace so that Brigil was leading and not him. He began to walk along a lad a few years younger than him and he said, "Hope you brought your lyre along John. I had promised Captain Audra that you would sing for us all." The young lad grinned, his sun-tanned face nearly glowing at the prospect. "Thank you Captain! And I did bring it along...just in case." He added a bit sheepishly at Gryffon's amused grin.
Gryffon and John winced in tandem as Brigil called out for the former. Gryffon sighed as he moved again to the front, he would take fighting over facing his sister. He moved to her side, taking a deep breath of the salty air. His eyes trained on the camp that lay before them. He looked over to Brigil. "Don't go talking yer head off about everything right? I don't want to make a bad impression of the crew."
Not giving her a chance to reply, he was bounded down the rocks to the camp. He raised both hands in a gesture of peace as a man sprung up from a rock, pointed his musket at him and cried out, "Who goes there?"
