"It really doesn't matter. If we are thinking about the possibility of going into the underdark, a surface journey would be easily inside our capacity."
"Fine then... Let's just get out of here..."
((Rune said to just improvise until he posts again.))

"Fine then... Let's just get out of here..."
Eldae looked at Amaera in surprise, a slight smile playing at his lips. "What's the matter? I though rangers were supposed to like the forest," he teased.

"What's the matter? I thought rangers were supposed to like the forest."
"I do. But just standing around at night with no fire makes me feel like prey. But hey, if something decides it wants to eat us, all I have to do is run faster than you." *She smirked slightly, glaring at Eldae playfully.*

Blood Lark looked at the two, he knew they were interested in each other, even if they wouldn't admit it. He decided just to shadow them until they got back to the city. Silently he slipped into the shadows of the forest deep enough so their own elf sight would not catch them.

Eldae started to respond, but realized the drow had dissapeared. "We'll never find him in this light. I agree with you. Let's go back to town until morning. Maybe Kaali will be feeling better tomorrow."

*Amaera nodded and eagerly began walking westward with him.* "I certainly hope she is... Then we can set out to find this gnome of Blood Lark's... I hope we're not taking too long... but then again, there's not much we can do about it. We have to be prepared..."

*We have to be prepared..."
Blood Lark's keen elven hearing heard a twig snap. He stopped. He looked around, he didn't see anything for a moment then he saw movement. The shadowy silloett(not spelled right) of a small pack of dire wolves stalking towards Eldae and Amaera. He had to do something. Blood Lark unclasped his short bow and drew an arrow fromt he quiver, he aimed, the closest one moved into the moon light, the arrow sliced through the night air, hitting the dire wolf directly in the eye and into it's brain. The others turned towards him, just what he wanted.

Eldae heard something that sounded suspiciously like a bow string. Motioning for Amaera to stay quiet, he listened intently, hearing a slight howl. He put out his lantern. "Whatever it is out there, that howl was too deep for a normal wolf. The light will help it more than it will help us." With that, he began moving towards the sound.

*Amaera followed Eldae silently in the darkness, her hand resting on the hilt of one of her swords... She was sure that it was Blood Lark's bow she had heard. But where was he?*

Eldae saw the sillouette of the dire wolf pack. He saw one of the shadows crumple to the ground, most likley pierced by an arrow. Focusing his mind, Eldae called forth unstable motes of ectoplasm in the area where the wolves were, fire blossoming as the ectoplasm reacted with the atmosphere.

*Amaera stood near Eldae, unable to believe what she was seeing. Had she been anyone else, she knew she would have feared him in that moment...*

Catching on the wolves' natural fear of fire, especially unnatural fire, Eldae decided to hit them while they were panicked. Pulling out his crossbow, he fired a shot into the wolves, hearing a howl of agony as his bolt struck home.

*Amaera snapped out of it as Eldae drew his bow and began firing at the wolves. She quickly lifted her bow as well, fitting an arrow and letting it fly.*

As Amaera started firing as well, Eldae saw the sillouettes of the wolves grow closer. Realizing that they were coming to face the threat they could see, Eldae put away his crossbow and got out his staff.

Blood Lark saw the fire. Who started that he wondered. Oh well it didn't matter, it was a good distraction. He sought the power deep within himself, slowly he preformed the spell, his body began to change, molding itself into a wolf. Shapechanging was a very powerful tool for a druid, and Blood Lark used it now, for there were more of them behind the front pack they had first seen, not much more but enough to cause a problem. His transformation complete, a large black wolf ran into the battle.
