"If you don't know what's going to happen then you can't prevent it. So there's no use in thinking about it..."
Eldae thought about that for a moment, and then nodded. "I guess you're right. Worrying about tomorrow takes all the fun out of today." He thought for a moment, and then asked, "Do you have any plans for tonight?"

"I guess you're right. Worrying about tomorrow takes all the fun out of today."
*There was a moment of silence before he spoke again.*
"Do you have any plans for tonight?"
*Amaera shook her head.* "None. What about you?"

"None. What about you?"
"Well," Eldae said fingering his vest absent-mindedly, "Since you don't have any plans, can I take you out for dinner?"

"Since you don't have any plans, can I take you out for dinner?"
*A bright smile graced Amaera's lips as she nodded softly.* "I can think of nothing that would please me more."

"I can think of nothing that would please me more."
Eldae's smile matched that of Amaera. "Any place in particular you would like to go?"

"Any place in particular you would like to go?"
*Amaera shook her head with a soft laugh.* "I believe I trust your judgment more than I trust my own. I'll leave the decision up to you."

"I'll leave the decision up to you."
"Looks like you have more confidence in my choices than I do. Ah well, let me think..." Eldae thought for a moment, and then snapped his fingers. "The Whistling Stag! It's a good restaurant, and not too far away. Shall we go then?" He asked, offering his arm to Amaera.

*Amaera smiled and nodded.* "All right then. Sounds perfect to me..." *She gently wrapped her arm around Eldae's and the two of them walked away from the fountain, making their way to the restaurant.*

When Eldae and Amaera got to the restaurant, it wasn't crowded at all and they were seated fairly quickly. "What are you going to have?" Eldae asked his companion.

"What are you going to have?"
*Amaera thought about it for a moment.* "Hm... I'm not sure. Probably just some soup and a glass of wine... What about you? Anything special in mind?" *She reached up and unclasped her cloak, draping it over the back of her chair.*

"Anything special in mind?"
"Not really... I was hoping you would have a good idea so I could copy you." Eldae smiled. He still couldn't believe his luck in being able to go out for dinner with Amaera. "I'll probably just get soup as well."

*After they had ordered their meals, Amaera smiled at Eldae.* "So... Before I trust you with my life and follow you into the great unknown, care to tell me a little more about yourself? All I seem to know so far is that you're a charming adventurer with an amazing talent..."

"All I seem to know so far is that you're a charming adventurer with an amazing talent..."
Eldae sighed. "It's a talent I'd rather be without." At Amaera's curious glance, Eldae continued. "Not just because of the persecution I recieve. When I was a child, my village was attacked by mind flayers. I was hidden in a cellar, so they couldn't find me, but the psionics they used imprinted on my mind. After they left, a traveller came by and found me. He saw some of the dead mind flayers which is how he knew what happened. He left me at a temple of Shaundakul to be cared for." At that Eldae broke off for a while and sat in silence, remembering his grief. "When I grew up, and learned how to use my powers, I left the temple to go help others. I focused my mind on creation, reather than destruction. Whenever I do help others, though, people think I am trying to 'infect' their minds somehow." Eldae trailed off again, sitting again in silence. "After I grew up, I left my foster father.

*Amaera's light blue eyes softened, losing all of their normal playful nature. She was silent for a moment, thinking about all that Eldae had just told her. Slowly, she leaned across the table a little, gently placing her hand over his.* "I never once thought of you as able to 'infect' anyone's mind... And I'm sure there have been others that felt the same. You have probably helped more people than you know. But, though it may seem a little harsh to say this, I doubt you would feel such a strong need to help others without having gone through such terrible things yourself... So don't say that you'd rather be without your gift. Great things can come from it, despite the fact that terrible things led to it."

"Great things can come from it, despite the fact that terrible things led to it."
Eldae looked at Amaera. "You're the first person I've ever told my story to. I don't know how how I was so lucky to ever meet you." He paused for a moment. "so, what about you? I trust your story isn't as tragic as my own."
