*I think you mean 'above the tree line' and 'Great River Bandit' >.>*
Jodice may have been rather emotionally broken, but that didn't mean she wasn't about to defend herself, even if it was in vain. No sooner had she regained a conscious thought process after being dashed up against a tree than she acted against her attacker, digging whatever nails she had into his arm as she attempted to free herself. Adrenaline pumped into her as she tried to escape, clawing frantically at the hand that had her, she herself squeaking as her heart beat faster and faster...
As her defense seemed fairly useless, she turned to another tactic... Planting one foot on the tree behind her, she pushed forward, snapping the free one out, aiming for the armpit. If it connected, most any opponent would let go, as a rather large lymph node resided there, which would cause plenty of pain once kicked as such...

(sorry, weird and abrupt entry here we go! And, I will be playing two characters, Roary the Kitty Demon and Evan the Necromancer.)
"Get back here you witch!" Deep voices boomed from behind him. It wasn't the first time people were violent to him for what he was, but it certainly was the first time the officials of the place he was in. He was running through snow covered streets with a cat on his back. The cat was his lifelong friend Roary, who could shape shift from cat to human, and had a mystical instrument she called a Banjo, but anyone could see it was much more than that.
He reached the town square, where he was meet by about two dozen guards on every street exit. The people where locking and shutting doors. The gallows were close by, and that was the last place he wanted to be.
"Evan Escence and Roary the Banjokat, we charge both of you with unholy witchcraft, with the sentence of death!" A scribe read. "You may either go quietly or we will kill you here on the spot!" He added, unrolling the scroll that he had been reading from.
"Well?" Evan asked the cat, who was hopping off of his back and changing back to human. The banjo landed by the neck in her hand.
The guards were tired of waiting. They drew long swords one by one, and some even drew crossbows.
"Time is up.." Evan Mumbled, and grabbed her hand. Before she could realize what he was doing, he cut he on the hand, and then cut his own, and said an incantation, and looked deep into the nearby forest. A green and black hole opened beneath them, and they fell through, and came out high in the air, above a forest. There was a camp fire nearby. He hoped they weren't scouts from the nearby town.
Evan hit the ground first, and was knocked unconsious. Roary, being part cat, landed on her feet.
"Is it really that hard to land on your feet?" She asked he unconsious companion, sitting down and beginning to strum her instrument.

Mammoth looked to where Pinata had pointed, and squinted as he tried to make out what was going on, standing up and taking a step forward.
"Hah! We just can't get any rest can we?" he said, joking, not caring that he was following them. However, as he was about to turn around to return to the group, he jolted his head back. The leaves rustled, the branch wobbled, and the chains from the woman glinted in the moonlight, coming into Mammoth's vision.
"Somethings wrong..." He said, pulling his sword, "I ain't about to have wasted food to help her to have this bastard kill her before she can make her choice of her path!"
He placed his helm on his head and started running toward the treeline...

Luna looked over and noticed him running. "d**n....he's heading right for it......." She got up and shot off like a dart after him. Her katana appeared in hand as she ran after him. If it was a soul hunter she might be able to sort things out as long as he wasn't one of the elite guard. If it wasn't a soul hunter, there was a slim chance she could send it back to hell for however long it would stay down there.

He slid back as she pushed with her legs. Ignoring her nails on his arm, he tried to keep his grip strong enough to disable her, yet not so strong that her neck would snap or she would choke. He did not see if the others from the camp had seen him. He was fighting for control, trying to overcome the anger that had risen after his disappointment. "Why do you look so much like her? Who are you?", he repeated in the same tone.
As he saw the blow that was coming at him, he put down his hand to take the blow on his shoulder. He suddenly realized that the twist in his arm holding her neck would probably result in him breaking it. He let go as he brought his hand down, the kick landing on his shoulder, harmlessly.

Jodice fell down at an awkward angle, grasping at the tree with one hand to keep herself from continuing down as such. Her legs flew past her, right into the tree; although she was able to stop her feet from slamming into the trunk too hard, her knees weren't so lucky, and she cried out as they slammed hard against the wooden pillar, cracking slightly. She wouldn't be able to run far from this fight...
Letting go as soon as she could, Jocy landed on her feet, and began running as her hand groped her neck, running away from this person who seemed intent upon killing her, thinking nothing about what he'd asked her... She turned back for a moment, stumbling to the ground as she scrambled her small body into the forest, her knees in too much pain to run for long as she took to crawling on her hands and knees to keep on the move, a small blood trail forming from where one of her kneecaps had split and the skin broken, letting the lifeblood flow freely from it, only adding to her pain...

He held himself up on the branch by reaching down to balance on the shaken branch with one hand. She had half slipped- half jumped down. He looked down, confused by the mixed emotions he felt. He was completely out of control and he was determined to get his answers.
He jumped down on the ground, oblivious to the approaching group behind him. He walked towards the now crawling Jocy. Anyone who could see him now would be able to notice the leaves that were coming in contact with his body turning black, shrinking as if the life had been sucked out of them. He had lost hold over his power. He didn't know but if he touched her again now, he would probably end up killing her.

"d**n it! Shadowstep!" She jumped into the shadow of a nearby tree and reapeared in the shadow of the girl. She took a quick step to place herself between the man and the girl before holding her sword out. "Keep back! If you're going to kill anyone try me! I doubt you can suck the life out of someone that's already dead!"

Mammoth reached her soon after Luna. He reached down and raised up the woman to her feet,
"Come on, I got ya." He said taking her from the forest where he could fight the man in the open, if Luna didn't finish him first.
He couldn't help but shake his head and smirk, she wanted to kill him, and here he was saving her from this monstrosity. He was too kind-hearted. He wondered what she would do, but he then thought about more pressing matters. Whether she cares or not, she's a person who currently is defenseless being attacked for no reason. That cannot be allowed to happen.
Suddenly, Luna made a comment about being already dead, and Mammoth started to trust her far less. He stood up, standing between the woman behind him and the two people before him. Luna could handle herself, and he did promise her the next fight. He stuck his sword in the ground and waited. If she failed to take on this monster, he'd step in.
"I suggest you settle down before ya get hurt. Attackin' people for no reason doesn't happen on my watch!" Of course, he knew the man wouldn't settle down until they "pacified" him. So he let Luna do the dirty work, and then waited for his moment to step in.

"They're at it again I see" Fin said to his friend as he strode back over towards Talin.
"Indeed... we are in the company of warmongers, thieves, and apparently soul hunters" Talin said in return. He had been observing much over their short time together but he had determined much of these people he travelled with. And that shifting of space through the use of shadow was indeed in a soul hunter's repertoire. He had figured the man in the trees a soul hunter, but apparently the woman he had met earlier at the tavern was as well. And Talin smirked at that, figuring out the truth of the whole ordeal with the wizard that had knocked him to the ground earlier that day.
"Should we help them you think?" Fin asked after glancing over to the gathering tumult in the nearby forest, seeing everything in much greater detail with his elf eyes than most would.
"I think it unwise to meddle in the affairs of soul hunters my friend" Talin said in return with a grim look on his face "they are of a different sort than you and I... but do as you wish" though Fin just nodded his agreement, respecting Talin's wisdom and judgement. After all, he had heard Talin's story of his encounter with a soul hunter decades ago, while he was protecting a wizard whom apparently had a contract out on his soul. That battle had nearly resulted in the elf's death, with him only winning due to blind luck.
"Plus it seems they have things under control... we will have our share of battles on the field this time tomorrow Fin, worry not" he said with an assured smile to his friend, trusting fully that the others could take care of themselves. It wasn't that he was afraid... far from it, he would gladly take on any of those before him, confident that he would evenly match them at the very least, but it was simply not his fight

Roary came through the trees, dragging Evan by the collar to where he saw two men conversing with eachother. She heaved a sigh of relief when she saw neither of them was with the government of the nearby town.
"Can someone give me a hand here?" She asked, dropping Evan to the ground.

They had got it wrong he thought, or had they? He stopped in front of the women who claimed not to have a soul. He was thinking about what he had been doing. He looked over at Jocy. She had been running away from him because she believed he was going to kill her. He hadn't seen these people come in, another sign he was losing control over his senses. The silence was deafening in itself as his cloak fluttered behind him softly. Nothing showed on his face as he realized what he had been doing. Had he really meant to kill her? He looked around at the dead undergrowth under his feet and the leaves around him. He looked like a man who had just woken up from a deep sleep. "I didn't mean to kill her. Do not interfere in affairs that are beyond you, those you don't understand.", he said in the same tone he had used with Jocy. "Who are you?" he repeated the question. He took a step forward stepping aside from the soul hunter. He didn't know if she would strike him or not. Right now, he cared more about the answers to his questions. ((You can strike him and stuff if you like. Beat him to pulp I say ))

Mammoth tensed, clinching his fists and stepping forward, ready to stop his advance toward the woman behind him should Luna fail to. He looked back over his shoulder to check on her, and then focused his eyes on the man in front of him.

She quickly moved and slashed him across the chest, sending him flying several feet away. "You stay the hell back. I don't think you get that she isn't exacitally ready to have a talk with you."
