May was taken aback by the man's... this 'Stephan's statements. "Actually, my mom is a Catholic, my dad died when I was a baby, and 'desperate' is more or less the word. You know, you're quite the ass in person." Then again, talking to someone online and in person were usually two different things; people online tended to act differently than they would face-to-face.
"So I take it that house has a history? Figures... our first house we were run out of because some freak tried to threaten my mom with a knife before the police tore him off her, and the second on because she couldn't keep up with the payments. And the apartments we rented ended up in the same situation... and now we're gonna get scared out by some stupid ghosts! God dammit! I am tired of moving!" Until about twenty people told her to hush, May forgot that she was in a library; now she remembered.
Sitting down quietly with a look of guilt on her face, May decided to change the subject for a moment, using a lower tone of voice. "I'm May... May Foster. Kinda describes my life, really... I'm sure you don't wanna hear that crap, though, so I won't babble about me..." She looked quizically at Stephan, asking "So why exactly are you so interested in that freaky girl I saw?"

"I've been having some issues with the paranormal also....and I'm sorry if I seem a bit blunt.....but at least you still have your mother. Both of my parents died in a car crash about six years ago, and up untill about a month ago I was stuck in a house with a pair of alcoholics that only kept me around to look good for their parol officer. In anycase, ever since my parents died I've been seeing unusual shadows as well as a chill that tells me when they're near. Ever since I started living alone things have been getting worse. Admittedly, I thought that if I helped you I could learn how to get rid of my own ghosts at the same time." He shifted a bit and closed the book, looking up at her for the first time. His eyes seemed....well.....haunted......

*i'm not joking when i say this sounds like the Persona game series XD*
May looked away; those eyes scared her when she looked straight at them. She swore he wasn't telling her something, but decided that pursuing it wouldn't help her a bit. "That's terrible. Well really, my mom isn't much help. Half the time she's in a nervous breakdown or going suicidal... she scares me about as badly as these d**n things do. But I still want her around because I can't have anyone else. I've tried, but... Anyways, about these ghosts..."
She hesitated; up until earlier today, she'd dismissed the possibility of ghosts, but after what she'd seen... "There's two of them now, and probably more of them. The first one was that girl I told you about, and then right before I left another one came, just like out of nowhere. They aren't shadows either; I swore I saw the girl had breast, and there was a child..." She stopped, still able to hear everything that both of them had said. "The little girl, she sounded scared... the air there was different; I could almost feel her sadness... And that chill thing... is the air as cold as winter in Alaska? Does it actually feel like your skin is freezing, but never does? Cause that's exactly how it felt, both times..."
May shuddered, not knowing what to do. "I don't think I'll be able to get any sleep tonight after seeing that girl. She sounded scared, helpless... I don't know how to describe it, but if I saw her now, I... I don't know whether I'd run away or try to help her... if I could get over how scared I am maybe I could do something about it." She felt stupid for saying everything, and realized how much of a fool she probably sounded like. "I'm sorry, I'm probably wasting your time... Now I've gone and gotten myself all worked up here. Guess I'd better go now before you get mad at me for wasting so much... oh, f**k it." May got up, all flustered at her own stupidity, and turned to leave...

"Getting mad is somthing I don't do. And believe me, there's nothing wrong with being scared in that situation. Honestly, anyone would be hard pressed to even move. The fact that you might be willing to try and help her after all she put you through so far is actually quite impressive....." He knew it sounded cold, but what was he going to do? Invite her over? Well, maybe....... "If they come back and you don't feel up to dealing with them, just head to my house. You can't miss it. It's the only black two story house on the block." He stood up, leaving the book on the table and walked out to the door. He turned back to the girl for a moment, "Oh, and welcome to the town." He started walking down the street to his house, thinking about where he could start looking for information first.

((You guys weren't giving me much to do with my last post, so I changed it )) It wasnt much of a challenge to reach the roof of the school having done it many times before. As he sat there looking over the rooftops, he heard the gate opening down below. He saw the same girl from the Passats mansion walk in. He was curious what she was doing here right now. He watched her walk in the the main building. He jumped down one level to, and watch through the window as she walked towards the library. He didnt really know what to make of it but thought it was best not to follow her or she would think he was stalking her. As he went up to his perch and waited, he again heard the door open. This time it was Stephan. He quickly put two and two together. She was a smart girl. She must have figured out the 'speciality' about her new house and even somehow found the only person who could probably help her in the town. He then spotted the girl leaving the building, looking a bit upset. He called out to her, "Hey, didnt expect to see you here..." It took him two jumps to get to the ground. A few seconds after he had spoken, he was on the ground behind her.

May wanted to respond, but her lips didn't move fast enough to catch up to him. Before she could say anything, he was gone. Feeling a bit winded, she headed for 'home'.
That was suddenly interrupted when someone yelled at her and jumped off the roof, startling May who fought back her instincts to floor whoever it was when she saw the face. "Jason! Dammit, you gave me a scare! Please don't do that again..." She was tired of the weirdness that'd been going on that day, and just wanted some rest. "Look, you wanna be nice? Walk a girl home, and maybe I won't rat you out for being on the roof like that tomorrow."
Of course, she wasn't serious; at least about ratting him out. But after all that she'd been through today, having an at least semi-familiar face around on her way home would be nice...

"Whoa, sorry! Take it easy. Whats bothering you? I am guessing you found out about your house eh? Yeah, I didnt want to tell you anything that time as you seemed quite suspicious of me." He talked while they started walking towards the mansion. "I didnt want to tell you anything then because I figured you were ok then. Seeing as you came to meet Stephan, I am thinking something is going on. You know, it would help if you told me your name..." he said smiling and paused.
He didnt know how to put his next question, "Eh... by any chance did you have a small girl in your house when I came to deliver the pizzas?"

"A..." May's face went white... "What... how... no..." she stammered, taking a step back. She didn't know what to make of it. Had he stuck around and seen her leave? "Its just me and my mom and whatever bugs are in there... I was thinking about getting a cat, or maybe a parrot, but definitely not a dog. No, I don't like dogs much, mostly because..."
Her voice trailed off, and she saw that he wasn't buying her babble. "So, um... why do you ask?"

"Listen...uh... miss, I saw a girl in your house. I am not sure whether I was hallucinating or not, thats why ask. She creeped me out. Put that together with the stories I have heard about the house, I am surprised how you plan on sleeping at night. Um, dont think of me as too forward, but I will wait outside the mansion till midnight tonight. If you... you know get scared or something, or cant sleep just come out before that. Its not likely your mom's gonna allow me inside" he smiled waiting for a reply, or maybe a kick in the stomach...

May didn't know exactly how to put everything together; that was her second offer that day to stay at someone's house. Was she that attractive, or did the people around here just care that much? However, she felt like messing with his head a little, just to get some revenge for him spooking her earlier. "Um... I don't think my mom would care that much. As long as I know who you are she trusts that you aren't around to do anything... malicious. Just to be safe, though, I'll ask."
Walking up and just inside the door before Jason could protest, she set her laptop down where it had been before, then called for her mom "Hey mom, there's some kid I met today, says he wants to help with the unpacking if you'll let him." Looking back as her mother responded positively, May gave a slight smirk, wondering if Jason would chicken out and run now. "The name's May, by the way. May Foster. Now do ya wanna come in or not?"

Oh great, so now he was going to be inside the freaking house! How he got himself into these things he hardly ever knew. At first glance, with all the homely stuff around, it looked like a normal house, but something didn't feel right.
"Sure, how can I refuse...", he said smiling as he entered. "You trust people too easy May. Your first day and you have already started hanging around with the most creepy and notorious kids in town. I am just notorious by the way as you will find out in school soon enough.", he told her giving her a mock bow as if presenting himself.
"So is it true that their are, uh, ghosts in this house?", he asked seriously.

"I think I can handle myself" May said, smiling. And she could. And she had before; more than once she'd ran into the police who had to separate her from someone who'd either attacked her or she'd attacked for one reason or another. Usually the person wasn't in too good a shape. That, and the fact that she kept the police on a jerry-rigged speed dial on her cell phone, which she could activate at the press of a button on the back cover. It hadn't gone off too much, but when it did she was usually in trouble anyways; May had a certain way with technology sometimes.
"Ghosts? Um..." She was hesitant to say 'absolutely you bet your ass there is' because if she did, she knew no intelligent person would stick around for that kind of sh**. "I really don't know, but the place does seem to be a bit cold. Though a few windows would fix that, I'm sure. Anyways, there's this place I wanted to show you if I can find it again. Weird thing was, it was hidden in the wall, like someone didn't want anyone to find it again, but it was open the last time- yeah, this is about it here..."
Standing in front of the wall, she must have sounded insane. But May felt against the wall, looking for cracks this time that she'd probably have missed the last time on account of her full-blown panic. After a minute or two, she felt a very fine and tiny crack in the paint, and pushed on it.
There was a slight clicking noise, and the door opened outwards without a sound. "Come on! Its in here." May took out her cell phone and flipped it up, turning the light all the way up on it so as to act like a flashlight. The room was exactly as she'd remembered it; there was even the CD player still sitting there on the bed where she'd accidentally left it. This time, though, there was no cold feeling, and as she went to carefully close the door a bit, it abruptly shut and clicked again. May mentally noted that pulling the door this time would open it.
"Hold on a sec... there's some lamps over there." Walking over to the oil burning lamps, May took a moment to examine one, then remembered how her grandma used to do it; pulling the clear glass top piece off, she searched around inside the drawer below it and found a box of matches. Striking one, she used it to light the lamp, then proceeded to do the same with the rest. Pretty soon, the room was clearly visible through the lamp light. "Isn't this room gorgeous?" May stated, flopping down on her bed and stuffing the CD player into her pocket after turning off the light on her cell.
Getting up, May started exploring the room, looking about in different places; the room contained the bed, a dresser drawer, stand-up wardrobe, two end tables on either side of the bed, and a trunk beside the wardrobe, but not in the way of its doors. Everything in the room was orientally styled, decorated with gold inlays and red woods, possibly mahogany and various cherry trees. She started with the trunk; a simple key lock prevented her from accessing it however. "Now who would put a lock on a thing like this?" May wondered out loud...
Remembering parts from all the various horror-survival games she'd played on her computer, May started looking around, inside, and underneath the various pieces of furniture until she found a key taped under the bed. Walking over to the trunk, she fiddled with it for a second, then finally got it opened; to her surprise and slight disappointment, the only thing of interest sitting inside was an old camera, like the kind used in the 19th century, along with a few rounds of film. "How odd..." she thought out loud again; suddenly, a chill ran down her spine, and she turned to look at Jason...

Jason was being given a guided tour of the house, more specifically the 'hidden' room. He heard the door click in place and spun around almost waiting to see somebody beside it closing it shut, but there was nobody in th room besides them. As he heard May talking he realized, they weren't really question she was waiting for a reply on. So he kept quiet watching her work, smiling to himself. He saw her pull something out of the trunk she had just unlocked, but before he could see what it was, he felt a chill rising in the room.
"Uh, is this... normal?", he asked May as she looked at him. Her expression told him enough. "Lets go, shall we...", he added quickly and went to try the door without waiting for a reply. He hoped it wasn't but knew it will not open and thats exactly how it turned out to be.

Trying to distract him and keep herself from panicking, she loaded the camera easily enough and whipped it up, snapping an impromptu picture in the darkness. "Smile" she giggled out, trying to hide her nervous feelings as she took the slide out; her eyes immediately went wide with shock. The film developed quickly for such an old camera, but what caught her eye the most was the ghostly visage behind him...
"J-J-Jason..." she stuttered, trying to catch her breath as she looked back up, "pull the door towards you. That thing has a mechanism like a magnetic door or something." May turned back to the trunk, grabbing some stuff when she heard the click. Another chill went down her spine, but she ignored it... until she heard the door slam shut. Panicking, she felt a hand on her shoulder; it was cold, but definitely a hand.
Sighing with relief, May swore as she turned to face who she thought was her friend. "Goddammit Jason! I thought I told you to stop-"
But Jason wasn't there; a ghostly woman, barely visible in the oil lights about the room, with long hair hanging down past her face, and a single eye staring back at May... Overcome by terror, May screamed as she scrambled to her feet, trying desperately to get away...

Jason followed what May had told her about the door. He heaved a sigh of relief when he heard the click again. As soon as he had the door open enough to let them both out, he turned around to call to May. He never got any words out, as he was suddenly hurled out of the room with a force he didnt expect, right into the opposite wall, with the door slamming shut after him. He knew May was in some kind of trouble when he heard a scream... barely. The sound almost seemed sound proof. In all this frenzy of activity, he forgot any fear he might have had about the room and kept slamming his shoulder into the wall conciling the door until it opened. He lost his blance and was on his knees in the room when he looked up and saw the ghost.
Without thinking he reached through the ghost and grabbed May by the waist and pulled her towards him expecting some kind of resistance. The result was May ended up passing through the ghost and ended up on top of Jason, right outside the door. In the process, he had knocked his head on the floor with a loud 'Thud' and lay there for a few seconds...
