"Oh gods....you know....you're the second forest spirit i've met that wanted to rip my head off...." He said, obviously unhappy with the whole dealing, "And where do you get the idea in your head that I'm harrasing the guy? I'm trying to help him so he dosen't get his head chopped over the red bag he's got. There are some dangerous people after it and I don't want someone killed over it." The dragon growled for a moment before the man turned to it and said, "you wouldn't dare! you remember what happened when you tried that last time....." The dragon let out a few more grunts and growls before the man sighed, "No no....just don't do it...." The dragon shrugged and looked at the forest spirit, apparently unhappy about the outcome of the conversation.

"I wonder whay they'd get all off on ya... could et be that ya have no respect fer personal space, mahybe?" Muldreina fumed, raising an eyebrow and not batting an eyelash. "An' that 'guy' ri' thar is mah best friend, so ya best be careful how ya talk 'bout him, or I'm liable to get ya hurt!"
When the dragon growled, she turned to him and stated quite flatly after the man had finished scolding the beast "You stay outta this, scaley! I'll be after ya in a second here if ya really wanna go at it." She turned back to the man, having exhausted her anger for the moment. "No wat was this about a bag?" she perked, suddenly curious about what was going on.
She turned to Adren, eying the red bag that he carried on his back that looked fairly new. "Oooo! Wha kinda goodies did ya find this time, Adren? I hope ya liked those new grapes I started growin' a while ago... they're a new recipe I'm tryin', so I mighta gotten a few thangs off on 'em..." Her mind wandered for a second before she came back "So wats in the bag, youngin'?"

Before he could answer, the strange man answered for him, "A stolen dragon's egg. I know of more than a few people that will have senced when that thing was found, and they're willing to kill for it. That particular egg was the reason someone threw a spear at me, only to have it miss and tear into Sabre's wing."

Muldreina's voice had always amazed Arden, it was big and strong for a creature so tiny, though even after all this time she still struggled with her words. Arden found it funny and had got used to it and could understand her most of the time, particularly funny was how the spirit pronounced his name, getting the letters all back to front. Arden's mind at that moment was on something else though.
"It's NOT stolen, I Found it." He said defensively in as loud a voice as he could muster. "I found it in the woods, so by rights it is mine." He thought on that for a moment.
"I will trade with you." He said, hushing Muldreina who looked like she was about to speak again. "If of course you have anything worth trading for."
He still wasn't sure how this beast knew about the egg, but if he was the one that lost it, then he should have been more careful. Still, there was the chance that he was being truthful and the egg was a danger to him. He liked the idea of a trade. He would get something just as valuable and without any hint of danger. Then a thought crossed his little mind.
"Erm... what IS a Dragon?"

Muldreina did not like being shushed. She hated it, but kept her mouth shut all the same. When Arden (got it right this time ) inquired what a dragon, Muld simply growled and pointed to the big scaly. "Not all of 'em are that big, bu' quite a few are, hun. Not nice things, me thinks; least, I'va never met a nice one bahfore. Nor one that ain't smelly." She glared at the scaly beast, and stuck her tongue out at it very much childlike, making raspberries at the creature. The Dryad (forest-type spirit) did not care much for having her privacy invaded, much less by a creature of that size. Suddenly, something came to mind. She turned to the human saying "Ya mentioned anotha' fairy. Which ona my sisters did ya peeve off? If it was Kyldta'Sylphid, I might think twice about ya..."

"I don't know really.....it happened so far away that I doubt you two have any relation. Sorry to say it but she died after she attacked me. In any case....Sabre here is actually fairly small for a dragon and has quite a bit of growing to do." Then he turned to Arden, "I'm afraid I don't have anything I'd be willing to trade for it....I would just recommend-" He was cut off by another one of Sabre's growls, "oh you can't be serious.....what? No, if he- ugh...I hate it when you make sence. Well my little friend, it looks like you have a new companion for your travels....Sabre's idea actually....If I refused then the oversized lizard would likley drag me along anyway....." He let out a deep sigh as the dragon made a ring of smoke that went around him. "by the way, I don't think you're very wise to the ways of the outside world.....if you try to pull finders keepers with one of the people after that egg, chances are that they would pull, 'my sword is bigger' " He walked over to Sabre and jumped onto his back, wanting nothing more than to throw somthing at the lousy iguana's head.

"We are quite closely connected, son, probably somethin' ya didn't-" Muldreina abruptly stopped her rant; the message of a spirit dying was so unbelievable to her ears that she didn't catch it at first. Died? Impossible! Spirits cannot die... perhaps she retreated, and appeared to have died... yeah, that's it! Has to be... No matter how much she tried to convince herself that it was true, however, her heart felt suddenly empty at the thought... There had to be a serious upset in the world's balance in order for an elemental spirit to die, and if that was the case... It wasn't as unbelievable as she'd thought a second ago; she herself had started feeling her forest shrinking. Still, who would purposefully cause an upset of such magnitude? They'd either have to be a complete fool. Or a genius of epically evil proportions...
At the talk of the man going with Arden, she broke her train of thought and eyed the human and his beastie with a raised eyebrow and suspicion. "Now jus' hold on thar a minute!" She used her power to discretely close the canopy above the duo, grounding them in an indirect way. "Ain't nobody that comes a-trompin' through mah forest an' gets off with just a speech! Yer gonna pay one way or anotha for wreckin' my homestead here." She moved towards the man, her wings fluttering. "Ya can at least tell me ya name so I know who I'll be apunishin' haer" she blurted out, hovering about a foot from the man's face as she remembering exactly why she was angry a moment ago.

"d**n it! Sabre, just repair the trees you knocked over so we can get this over with...... oh, and my name is Dante, Dante the silver lance......" He said, taking a bow. "At your disservice...." Sabre walked off on his path again, being carefull not to destroy anything else this time.

Muldreina giggled; the dragon was quite awkward lumbering in the forest. "Whell, since ya took that so naicely..." She concentrated a lot, and not only did the canopy open wider than before, but the tree righted itself and began healing at the trunk; this kind of movement all at once exhausted the old faey, and she fluttered to the ground with a deep sighing sound, clearly tiring from her efforts. Moving such large plants took a lot of effort and energy, energy that the faie thought she had; clearly, her own balance was off quite a bit.
While on the ground recovering, her thoughts came back to the lady in greenish armor... "Alrigh' now..." she tried to start, but she was winded, and the words came hard to her; still, she took it slow, speaking clearly and steadily so the others could hear her "Your punishment... is to help me... with a problem... of mah own." Recovering quite quickly, she picked herself up, dusting the dirt off of her as she continued "I found this poor lady stumblin' through, an' she needs help, but I don't know human anatomy very well, and she's wounded beyond mah simple healing magics and tea remedies. If ya can help meh get her better, you're fully forgiven. Does that sound laike a deal?"

"Yeah, sure.....not like I'm in a rush to fly away or anything. let's head back Sabre.....oh what does it matter? not like we can't find him again if he dosen't come with us" He said. He sighed and started looking through Sabre's saddle bags, eventually pulling out a deep blue liquid, "So, you going to lead the way? Sabre isn't psycic."

Beasts, Spirits, Dragons, it was all rather too much for the small minded Arden, and most of the conversation seemed to be passing him by completely. He struggled for a while to keep up with the bickering back and forth over one thing or another until he had had enough. The tall creature had said that it had nothing to trade, which was more than enough for the young Salin to loose interest, and while he may have been able to learn something of the world from this strange beast and its even stranger Dragon, he didn't trust either of them.
It was therefore clear to Arden that he had two choices. Either he could stay there and waste more time better employed in his adventure, or he could leave Muld to argue her point with the beasts and continue on his way as intended. Some considerable thought went into both options, but he decided that his lack of understanding in the matter was preventing him from having any input at all, and so he quietly slipped away, pulling his wheelbarrow behind him.
He had walked quite a distance before he looked back, and saw that they were still going at it relentlessly. He smiled, enthralled by his ability to escape his predicament unnoticed. He had reached the long grasses that ran along the edge of the woodland. They were above his head hight here, and so provided the perfect cover until he could get completely out of sight. In all honesty, he didn't like leaving his best friend behind, especially as she was in the process of defending his corner, but he was sure she would understand. Arden hated standing still, he was a hyperactive critter who needed to be moving constantly. Standing still just didn't seem natural to him.
Pulling his wheelbarrow through the long grass was easier than pushing it, but it still took some effort. He could hear behind him Sabre and the tall thing were still talking to Muldreine, and though he could still make out the words, with Sabre's grunts and moans contrasted by the other creature's loud voice, he wasn't paying attention. His thoughts had returned to what he might find at the Edge of the World.

Somewhere far off the small troup struggled through the treck. The black armors they wore not helping in the least. The leader looked around for a moment before waving the troop on towards the source of smoke, likley a fire place of some sort. He smiled when he thought about how much bigger that fire would be. He was sent to find somthing for his masters, somthing some unfortunate soul had just uncovered. He was promised riches beyond compare for it, and seeing the small village layed out in front of him, he felt it was about to become easy money.

Abruptly, Muldreina looked around, inquiring "Hey, where'd that lil' bugger run off to?" She looked around, then shrugged it off and went back to her other conversation. She figured that the little guy was tough enough on his own"Aye! This way, sir Dante!" she chirped, opening the forest behind her as she took off in the direction of the hut she'd constructed the night before to protect the young lady.
As she neared the hut, she changed form, becoming the young girl she favored more than her other forms. "She's in there, and should still be in bed if she hasn't gotten up and got herself lost or somethin' silly like that." Muldreina stepped inside, leaving the door open as she went to check upon the Valkyrie.
Upon seeing that she was asleep and resting easy, Muld pulled the armor pieces off out of the way to make more room. The moss bed the girl laid on was just big enough for her, and as comfortable as Muld could make it without having the girl's mass sink into it. Having finished lugging the eighth-inch steel plates out of the way, she carefully pulled the blanket back from the girl. It was only then that Muldreina noticed just how elegant a creature she was; fully figured, in sleep she looked like an angel, her gold-colored hair framing her hardened face perfectly even as Muld swept a few stray hairs from her closed eyes.
"She's a cutie, ain't she?" Muldreina randomly, quietly, and rather innocently remarked as she moved the girl's shirt, exposing the deep wound right below the left side of her chest that still seeped blood. "This be the one I'ma havin' trouble with... It just won't close, no mattar what I put in it... I thought perhaps ya have some sort of spell or somethin' that could close that up cause I've run out of ideas." And energy... why am I feeling so weak all of a sudden? I should have restored most of my energies by now... Something is wrong...

Everything seemed to be going just right at last for Arden, who had been lost in his own thoughts and dreams as he walked further and further away from the Village with every small step he took. It was a beautiful day, with the sky light shining brightly over everything and the air was warm. He had looked back at one point to see just how far he had gone, but the village was far out of sight. As was that scaled Dragon thing and its tall companion, which he surmised was a good thing. The two had kept him in conversation for longer than he had hoped and he didn’t much fancy having strangers along for his adventure, especially not ones he didn’t trust. The delay hadn’t set him back too much but he had hoped he would make it to the realm of the Forest Spirits before the sky light fell and darkness consumed the World.
Therefore he didn’t stop for brunch as intended, choosing to snack as he walked, and elevenses was skipped completely. Lunch however could not be missed, his stomach was already complaining and he needed a rest. He walked on, looking for somewhere suitable for him to sit. Shortly after the sky light had passed fully up, and had begun to come back down he spotted an idyllic patch of short grass by the lake. From there he could see not too far away the path that lead into the great forest between two great old trees that arched over to form an impressive entrance way. He had passed this way several times before and estimated that it would not take more than a couple of hours to reach it and soon he would be with the forest spirits in their home. He placed down the wheelbarrow and dug his hands in, rummaging around in it for a few moments before he pulled out a neatly folded blanket, a fishing rod and a small cooking pot.
Soon he was lying back on the lakeside with the fishing rod in his hand and the inviting smell of mushroom soup coming from the pot warming nicely on a small fire. Arden couldn’t imagine a place he would rather have been at that moment. The light sparkled, reflected in the water of the lake and a chorus of birds could be heard singing from the trees behind him. He smiled contently enjoying the warm feeling, finally his adventure had begun. It had always puzzled him why many other Salin found adventures to be so distasteful. His master had once told him that adventures were extremely disruptive things and that a Salin with any sense at all should stay inside and out of trouble. He’d said that adventures were best left in stories where they belonged and could make no mischief. Arden considered this point of view to be extremely small minded, besides without adventures where would the stories come from? Clearly his stomach wasn’t of the same opinion, its rumbling was growing louder.
After eating Arden packed up his things, placing each one back where it had come from in his wheelbarrow and made sure to put the fire out before moving on. He still had a long way to go and though he was still sceptical about the danger Dante had spoken of, he figured danger would have a harder time finding him if he kept moving. The next stretch of his journey was slightly easier, the ground was flatter and the grass shorter. It was never a good idea for such a small critter to walk over such open ground however and so he tried to stay as close to the edge of the forest as possible. It wasn’t that he was frightened to go out into the clearing, but there were hidden dangers waiting for an easy meal and he had no intention of being a meal.

Dante pulled out the vial from earlier and started chanting while pouring the liquid. It would sting a bit, but in her current state he doubted she would mind. The bleeding stopped at once as it mingled with the blueish liquid, and the skin looked like it was mending back together again. "She should be fine....if it's anything that the combined efforts of myself and Sabre can't fix, then she might be in trouble, but as far as I can tell things are going as they should...."
The small troup closed in on the village and immediately started tearing apart homes, shops, and anyone that stood in their way. They were driven by thoughts of glory and riches and weren't going to be stopped by such mice as these! The longer the raid went on, the more nervous their leader became, what if the egg wasn't there? What if his king was wrong? No, he couldn't be wrong, if he was then they wouldn't be able to come back, but if he was right and the egg was gone they would have the same fate. The leader was a brute, even by the standards of his race, thus, he went to his instincts and grabbed a Salin by his shirt and lifting him off the ground, "Where....is....the bag!"
