((I can't help it, Scrubs is my favorite show of all time, and I would kill to have a boss like Cox))
Dr. Laurence made his first incision along the side of the patient's left ear, getting to the skull, and asked Dr. York for the camera probe. "Don't screw up," he said to the doctor, who had been prattling on with some song or another up until that time. It wasn't that the singing bothered him particularly, it was just that he hated his subordinates to be distracted-especially during brain surgery.
(everyone cool with skipping the actual procedure?)

((Yes, please... skip it! Though let me know whats supposed to go wrong. Just don't make me a demented drooling idiot! I am supposed to hit on Karina during the post op stay. Oh and also for this purpose I have aged Shane 2 years. He is now 20 years old. Hope you all dont mind. The posts themselves dont need to be changed because of this. ))

(Yeah, sure. Just let us figure out whose fault it was if anything got screwed up with the surgery... I don't mind Jason being blamed if we need a scapegoat.)

"But..." Karina really didn't want to put the book down. She was already lost in the plot, and wanted so desperately to be gone and doing something other than sitting the white, too-clean atmosphere of a hospital. "If you can bring me something else to do, like paints or writing material, then I'll gladly put the book down, but why is it so bad for me to be reading? Doesn't it mean that at least one part of my brain isn't all screwed up?"

"That may be the case, but we're not entirely sure of your injuries, yet, so we don't wanna be putting any undue stress on the noodle, get my drift?" He walked over to the end table beside her bed and handed her the TV remote. "Here ya go. if there's one thing that'll keep you from thinking, it's the ol' boob tube. Now if you'll be so kind, I've got other, far less pleasant patients to attend to." And with that, Dr. Martin was out the door.

"Well, I guess..." Karina was downcast, but flicked the TV on anyways. Anything was worth not being bored, right?

Dr. Laurence was washing his hands after the surgery on the young man, looking at the operating table that was now empty. The sutures were looking a little odd when the young doctor had closed up, but time would tell, overall. He wasn't sure what would happen, but he had recommended to the chief of Medicine that they keep him here for at least a couple of days to make sure the wounds didn't become infected.

(Nothing, according to Poptart's post. The sutures looked odd, and he might have some plans regarding that, but otherwise there was nothing out of the ordinary mentioned.)

(I left it kind of open to you, Knight. If you want to have complications, a high grade fever would be a good place to start )

Shane woke up in his room and opened his eyes looking at the clock on the wall. He had been out for a long time. As he tried to get up, he had to extert a lot of effort into it. He was feeling very weak but he thought it was probably because of the general ansthesia. He felt his head with one hand and found in bandaged.
He was feeling extremely thirsty. Moving his head around on the pillow he tried to see if there was any water in the room. The table next to his bed had a pitcher but it was empty. There was another one sitting on a table a few feet from his bed. Getting up from his bed, he tried to walk towards it. but as soon as he got to his feet, he felt as if he felt like he was on a swinging bridge and collapsed on the floor, unconcious.
((I am pretty sure thats what it feels like when you try to walk after a general anesthesia. Anyway, gave a chance for Jason or someone else to discover something wrong or maybe just the fever like you suggest. ))

(That is pretty much what it's like for me after general anesthesia... the first time I try to walk I feel dizzy and usually have to sit back down, and after that it just makes me nauseous until it wears off.) Jason walked into Shane's room to check on him. He saw the younger man lying on the floor and cursed. Running over, he checked vital signs. The boy's forehead felt a little hot, but he was breathing, his pulse was normal and he had fortuitously fallen forward onto his face, rather than landing on the back or side of his head where it would have been easier for him to pop a stitch. Jason hit the call button... Shane wasn't exactly huge, but neither was Jason, and there was no way he could lift Shane by himself. He would need help getting him back into the bed. (Still trying to come up with a patient for Lenny. I think maybe I might have a brain aneurysm. )

After a bit of boring TV watching, Karina fell asleep, and in her dreams a scene between her and Jason from the island came up, bringing back distant memories, pain, and something else, too....
((don't know what to put for the dream. I don't think the scene i'm looking to post has happened yet, nor do i know if it will. how close are jason and karina gonna get in the island?))

((Don't know, we'll see i guess )) Dr. Martin saw Dr. York struggling to get a patient into his bed and ran into the room to help. He put one of the patient's arms around his neck and wrapped his right arm around his waist, just like Jason had done on the other side. They lifted him into his bed and immediately began hooking him up to read out machines. He felt the patient's forehead. "He's running a fever," he said looking at Dr. York. "Who closed on this guy?"

"I did," Jason said. "I don't think I f**ked anything up, though... I was being very careful not to piss off Dr. Laurence any further, it seemed like he was having a bad day." Jason got a thermometer prepped, and quickly read Shane's temperature. 100.3 -- not good, but not that bad. "Antibiotics?" he suggested.
