Excine blinked, his ivory face blotched with a rose blush. Rarely did he receive a kindness. He rubbed at his burned forearm, which was a little sore from where the girl had tugged at him. He glanced over towards Lucifel, his chin lifted in confidence. Despite he did harbor some very negative feelings towards the woman that had attacked him, he waved her away, swiftly pivoting on his heels to turn his back towards the town and his face toward the creeping preliminary band of demons. Kindness was rare. Never would he allow an act of such go without gratitude.

((And if Gaia was looking and knew what he was doing... Excine would soon be very much glomped))

Lucifel turned and picked up her jacket she didnt make any rush on getting into the gates before they closed. She rubbed her index finger and thumb together creating sparks of energy she then faced the demons comming towards her and looked back at the closing gates. Luficel walked in the gates before the people closed it she looked at Excine and shrugged."Sorry for my rash behavior. I dont trust anyone these days and time," she said throwing her jacket over her forarm and walking on into the town. She didnt hide her wings or what she was. Figured it would be stupid to try to hide it now.

He nodded, rubbing at his chest. "No apologies needed. Just try not to misfire at me." Excine frowned, pausing, before he looked toward the angel. "If you don't mind... Could you stand away from me."
Well after that he felt like a creep.
"Not... that I don't trust you to control yourself..." He flushed at the ears, realizing his mistake. "I don't wish to harm you and I can't much guarantee I won't." The man flashed a small sort-of smile, hoping that would solidify his apology. It was shy and awkward, but had an innocent charm.
The moment broke away as Excine ducked to his knees suddenly, grabbing the center legs of a spider-like demon scout. He tossed the creature back towards where it had come from. It wasn't an attack so much as a defensive maneuver. He held his hand up to Lucifel, hoping she'd wait.

Lucifel looked back over her shoulder towards Excine and nodded."No I dont mind steering clear, people tend not to want a rogue hot headed Angel around them.." she said smiling politely being nice to him as Gaia requested. Her wings twitched and she looked up at the sky smelling the air..."Hmmm."

Gaia walked over to Excine after he had finished tossing the weird spider thingy back out of the town. She looked him in the eye and smiled broadly. Then she looked over her shoulder at Lucifel. "See? We can all get along just fine." She turned back to Excine. "I'm Gaia! What's your name? Oh, and do you know Amir or Lasan? I'm trying to find them..." Her face started to lose some of its cheer. The green and brown undertones of her skin seemed to grow pale. She snapped herself out of it fairly quickly and her face again was a big grin from ear to ear.

"Ah..." He looked down and swiftly herded the young woman behind him. He hardly attacked to the point of deterring a precocious invader. "I've not had my name asked of me for some time." He muttered, trying to at least remain polite while on alert. The man glanced over his shoulder to the perky blue haired youth. "They call me Excine... I've another name more ancient still, but I don't remember it."
Turning back towards the threat that was hovering some ways away. "Hmm... The names of your comrades strike a chord..." Excine's shoulders slumped. "I wish I could tell you more. I have met few people in my years, but I never ask questions. Its usually unfortunate hapenstance that brings thinking creatures to my door."

((wow. I haven't been missed apparently. sorry i've been gone.))
Zyphan had fluttered between the gates after her new-found friends just a second before they boomed shut. She now stood a little off from Gaia and the others, watching the newcomer with both awe and fright. "Excine, huh? Interesting name........" She mumbled to herself, drawing her broadsword from between her wing joints and leaning upon the large blade.
((writer's block. GAAHHH!!! XP))

The large man shuddered at the emergence of a new voice. "It isn't really... from where I come from. It isn't as much a name as it is a title, but its what I'm called, nonetheless..." Excine's voice became all the softer. He wasn't really good with crowds and here he was, in the midst of three rather talkative sorts.

Gaia peered up into the night sky. The Swarm was passing overhead, but as usual the power of the river kept them away. It seemed the light of the river had been gathered into a large device at the top of a tower in the center of town. It glowed radiantly, protecting all in the city from the evils of the Swarm. The river itself flowed around the south side of the town. It only went into the town momentarily, but that side had expanded a little farther thanks to the protection of the light.
Gaia looked to Zyphan. "What do you think will happen tonight? Is it safe to get some sleep?" She then looked at Excine, followed by Lucifel, asking the same questions with a glance it seemed.

Excine glanced upward, his face shaded by the canopy of his dark hair. "I couldn't imagine them wanting this place anyhow... The resources are few and really... it isn't worth the risk of getting caught in the flow." The man jutted his chin towards the river, still resonating with a strong glow. "You're lucky to be found in a place like this..." The man rubbed at his arms, still stinging from his masochistic plunge into the light.
"However..." He muttered darkly. "The fact that they drew so near frightens me... There very well may be something here to draw far more dangerous hordes than a simple raiding band like that one." Excine's thin mouth was drawn into a deep frown. "I don't hear enough stories, I suppose. for I've heard tell of nothing particularly valuable in this village. So far as my information goes, most demons avoid it." His heel dug into the dirt suddenly and his jaw clenched shut. He should be in the same state of mind. It wasn't safe for his breed in that place.

Zyphan shrugged at Gaia's question. "I'll sleep in this. Just have to find a dark corner."
She launched herself up onto the rooftop of the nearest building, and surveyed the area for a suitable place for all of them to sleep.

Lucifel gave a nod solemnly and spoke softer than these people knew her for, " Yes, no harm will come to you tonight, but keep in mind I'm different and I'm willing to bet I'm alot safer than you. Yes safe for sleep tonight." She kept walking around the village people some staring and causing Lucifel to bark at them and part a way for them. She looked up towards Zyphan and pointed towards a torn up building."That'll do wont it?" she yelled towards Zyphan.

The phoenix looked to where Lucifel was pointing, and smiled. It was dark and nasty looking, but most definitely safe enough to shelter in for the night. "I"ll go check it out, but by the looks of it, I'm gonna bet nobody's been there for decades."
With that, Zyphan opened her wings, many gasps and "oh my!"'s erupting from the crowds below her. She flew over, and found that it was indeed a rundown old shack, and fluttered back to the others, telling them her find.
