Rae eyed both the corpses. Her kind were strict vegetarians, only killing if they needed clothing or shelters.
"Um... Looks nice, Zeph, good job," she said, growing faint at the sight of a dead animal.
Not really looking at Rynk, she said, "That's a lurper. At least, that's what my people call it. We don't tend to bother them because they eat the mice that eat our stores of food."
She turned around quickly and started playing with the grass to avoid looking at the lurper and boar. Long ago, when she was a little girl, she had been taught to weave long, thick pieces of grass together to make shapes or dolls. It was a way to teach youngsters to eat the healthy, thick grass rather than the thin, sweet grass. Now she was weaving a small deer, but she couldn't quite get it right. She shrugged and started to eat it.

"I guess that explains the teeth. Heh," Rynk grinned sarcasticly and rubbed the back of his head remembering that it almost bit a chunk out of his leg or something else. The adventurer started to turn away to go skin, gut, and otherwise prepare the slain Lurper when Rae's curious fiddle-ings with grass caught his attention. He watched from a slight distance, rather than rudely over her shoulder, as the cattle-demon attempted to form what seemed to be a doll of an animal before taking a bite into it.
"Rae," Rynk put a small smile on his face, "that was neat--what you did with the grass. Did you learn how to do that yourself? I've never seen someone make a doll like that."

Rae swallowed the grass and held up the now head-less deer figure.
"This? Heh... My mother taught me this when I was this," she held her hand about two feet off the ground, "tall. It's kind of a way to trick kids into eating the healthy grass over the sweet grass." She took another bite, finishing the deer figure off, "I never was too great at it... Especially with a deer." With a sigh, she grabbed another handful and started weaving it together, making a lumpy version of a cat.

"It's better than anything else I've seen someone do with grass," Rynk said with a slight sense of confidence, as the only other thing he ever saw someone do with grass it cut it with a gardening scythe. But even so, he was slightly impressed despite what Rae said about it, because he could tell what a certain figure was supposed to be.
"I guess I should go prepare that creature I caught," he finished off, and took a step back, "Rae, we could always go out and find other plants for you if you want--I just mean, grass doesn't appeal to me as a first-choice for something to eat..."

Rae laughed loudly. With a giggle, she shoved the deformed grass-cat down her throat.
"I figure if my ancestors lived off this," she said between bites, "It won't hurt me to eat it as well. Thanks for the thought though!" With another hearty laugh, she pushed herself out of sitting position and wiped off the dirt on her pants.
"If you don't mind, I'm going to call it a night," she announced stretching her arms slightly, "I figure I need as much sleep as I need and besides," she eyed the corpses again, "I really don't wanna see you guys eat those things."
She shuddered for a moment, then dove underneath the makeshift tent. She arranged herself on the far right side, on her stomach, using her arms for a pillow.

Zephyr dragged the boar off a ways from the campsite so Rae wouldn't have to watch him gut and skin the animal. He went off after a few minutes and returned carrying a very straight and strong stick for roasting the boar. He had pulled off twenty thin strips of the meat, and these he set aside, to be smoked later.
After tying the carcass to the stick, Zephyr dragged it back to camp and set up a rotisery-like thing over the fire. He looked over at Rynk, who was also skinning his catch. "When you're done, you can tie that on here if you like."
Sitting back, Zephyr watched the stars twinkle down at him as the smell of roasting pig wafted over him. "Something you all should probably know....Um..." He glanced at the others, not sure how to put his next words. "When I caught this boar, it was being chased down by four of those wolf-demons. They weren't the same ones, though. These were smaller in stature, and weaker, too by the looks of them."
A smirk appears on the hawk's face as he remembers what he did to them. "I placed them in a ring of fire, though if they were smart they would just walk through the flames; it won't hurt them none."

When Zephyr had spoke to him about his own small catch, Rynk had already nearly finished preparing it, simply now yanking what was left of the skin off of the Lurper creature. Because, however, the animal seemed to be mostly consisting of lean muscle, he did not remove any safely-edible organs such as the eyes and brain. To him, it didn't appeal to him any better than eating grass like Rae, a cattle-demon, but lean meat did not contain proteins and other nutrients that fatty tissue did; one could actually starve them self, in a way, by eating only lean rabbit meat alone.
As he had been offered, Rynk set up the smaller creature with Zephyr's boar, and then stepped back and finally laid down on his back, propping his head up from the ground with the palms of his hand from underneath. The stars had finally poked through the orange and yellow of the sky, and darkness had finally drawn its veil over the world.
"More wolves?" he said, though, sitting up and turning his attention to the hawk-demon with a concerned face. Because of his abnormal eyes, they seemed to glow a silver-ish color in the dark, so it was hard to see the concern within them. "Have you seen these things before they first attacked Rae's camp? I wonder why they would be so volatile..."

((A dream scene, because I have nothing better to do at this moment. XD)) The wind was whistleing through the trees in an erie tone. Tension was spread throughout the camp, even the men were showing their unease. A dark night such as this was the worst time to wait for dreaded news.
After a long wait, the messanger burst into the clearing. He was in his human form and it obviously gave him a dissadvantage.
"They're coming!" he gasped, growing his horns and tail, "The humans have organized a raid. They'll be here before too long!"
The result was mass panic; mothers grabbing their children close, fathers tearing down tents and stomping out fires. Rae searched frantically for her youngest, Cals, but he was nowhere to be found. Lee was missing as well. With a frantic cry, she shoved Cal and Nik at her oldest boy Tobi.
"Go with the rest of the women and children," she said hurriedly, trusting her sons to be wise, "I'll meet you at the river."
She gave them each a quick hug and ran against the stream of frantic bodies.
"Lee! Cals!" she pushed against the stream of panicked demons. Finally the crowd wore thin, and she was able to move freely. The warriors of the tribe were in a tight huddle, discussing what to do; there were not many as the wolves had taken several brave men not even a week ago. She did not see Lee amung them, and ran into the forest. She could hear people behind her, yelling for her to come back.
She ran blindly through the forest, calling for Lee and Cals.
"Rae?"
She spun around. Lee was approaching, a terrified Cals in his arms. With a relieved sigh, she hugged both of them tightly.
"We need to get out of here," she said frantically, pulling Lee by his free arm, "The humans are coming. We're outnumbered by too many."
Lee followed obidiently, "Where are the others?" he asked frantically.
"I told them to go ahead. Tobi's looking after them."
Lee nodded, and started to say something, only to be interupted by a series of loud yellings. Looking behind her, Rae saw the raiding party crashing through the forest, pitchforks and torches at the ready. Before she could react, Lee grabbed her around the waist. With a slight oomfing noise, he threw himself onto the ground, pulling Rae and Cals with him. He rolled with both them under a bush and covered Cals's mouth so his crying couldn't be heard. Moments later, the party thundered past them. Rae's anger grew in intensity as she heard the humans rant about "bloody demons" and "spawns of satan". When the last one disappeared, she rolled out from the bush, helping Lee up to his feet.
Cals freely cried then. He leaped onto Rae, sobbing into her shoulder. "Such mean people, Mommy, such mean people!"

They set up a small camp away from the nearby human village. It was agreed it was far too dangerous to try to get to the river at the moment and that the older boys could handle themselves for now. Rae and Lee shifted into their human forms just in case. Cals was so young that his horns were just starting to grow in, and he didn't know how to shift yet.
Rae held Cals on her lap, singing a lullaby about dragonflies. He was still startled by the raid and not sure what was going on. After a few minutes, he drifted to sleep.
"Lee," Rae breathed, willing herself to talk, "Where do you think the others are?"
He grit his teeth angrily; it was actually painful for him to be in human form for an extended period of time, "I don't know." He punched a tree lightly, trying to funnel his anger. He sighed and his head dropped slightly in dissapointment, "Take care of Cals, yourself, and... and the little one and try to get some sleep. Everything will be okay in the morning." He gave Rae a weak smile, "I promise."

Rae woke to one of the worst noises in the world; Cals screaming in fear. She jumped up to behold a gruesome scene; eight human men in their hidden camp. Four were pinning down a half-demon, half consious Lee, one holding Cals by the arm, and three pointing their spears into her face.
"Hello, sweatheart," said one paticularly fat man. He shoved the spear closer to her, "I suggest you stand up slowly."
Rae slowly climbed to her feet, anger surging through her eyes.
"Oi," said a second man, obviously confused, "This one ain't got no tail nor horns!" He iched his head with his free hand, "Reckon she's a human?"
With a nasty snarl, Rae changed into half-demon.
"No," she said darkly, kicking the second in the stomach. She managed to slip on her brass knuckles before she felt a spear in her back. She grimaced and froze in her spot. The men laughed in her face.
Lee groaned and said in a painful voice, "Leave her alone." One of the men pinning him down shoved his face into the dirt to make him shut up. This caused even more laughter.
"Think its funny?" she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. There was nothing else she could do, but go full out and kick some heiny. With a deep breath, she switched into full demon; 10,000 pounds of muscle, hoof, and horn. That's all she remembered before she lost track of herself, wrecking havock to her surroundings.
**********
Rae woke with a start. Tears were pouring down her face, but she didn't bother wiping them away. If she moved now, the others would know she was awake. She hoped that she hadn't said anything in her sleep; She had been told many times that she talked when she had dreams. With a deep, sad breath, she rolled onto her side, facing the wall of the makeshift tent. The demon knew she wouldnt' be able to sleep any more that night, unless she wanted another nightmare.

Violetta stirred in her sleep. The quiet voices she heard from outside her dreamland almost fused with the ones that were in her dream.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Violetta!" Screamed a familliar voice. She searched and searched the room she was in but unfortunatly she saw nothing except her dried blood and what looked to be her own body hung above her.
She was sitting in the dried blood for quite some time now and all she could think about was why she felt different but the same. Her so called body hung above her, the hair the same violet she remembered, but when she took a hangful of the hair on her head now all she could she was bubblegum pink. Her face turned into disgust as she let the strands fall free, 'I hate Pink.' She thought to herself.
After her last thought Violetta tried to get up but her knees strained and she fell to the floor. Her face landed in the blood, some smeared onto her face. All she could think was, 'Where am I ? How did I get here? Why Is my hair pink?' The questions scattered her head.
"Violetta!" Yelled the voice again. She looked up but found no trace of anyone, the room was of course pitch black accept a small candle to the left hand corner of the room. She shook her head and noticed that her arms were bruised and dirty.
She looked back up to her body and then everything went black... -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Violetta awoke suddenly and noticed the sleeping cat still curled up beside her, She also noticed taht Rynk and Zephyr were still awake in the darkest of hours. She stayed quiet and kept still not wanting to intrude on their conversation.

Zephyr unwrapped himself from his feathery coccoon. "I haven't seen them up close before they attacked us back there, but this group didn't seem like the type to crash a campsite." He looked over at Rynk, and his dark eyes met with the human's silvery ones. "There was something odd about them. They were smaller, a lot smaller than the ones that attacked us. And when they saw me, they cowered and tried to get away."
The hawk watched the flames for a while, lost in thought. "Thinking back on it, I don't think they would have attacked me.....I shouldn't have put up that fire ring...." Zephyr jumped to his feet, and ran a few yards before leaping into the air, yelling over his shoulder: "I'll be right back!! I have some unfinished business to do!!" ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One hour later, the hawk touched down near the place he found the wolves. Scanning the dark clearing before him, his night eyes found four furry lumps in the middle of a smoldering ring of ashes. He crept out of his hiding place, dragging the limp form of a deer behind him.
One of the shapes stirred as Zephyr approached, and turned towards the sound. Seeing the hawk, it started to scramble away, but paused as he tried to reassure the creature. "It's okay. Don't go. I've got something for you, and I'm sorry for what I did earlier." The wolf sat up, curiosity now gripping it's timid mind. It felt a need to raise the others, but did nothing of the sort.
Zephyr placed the deer a few feet within the ring, and stepped away, making sure to brush away a large part of the ashes. Fading back into the trees, he watched as the other three wolves woke up, and they all began bickering over the carcass. Satisfied at last, the hawk flew back to camp on silent wings.
Landing once more, he walked tiredly to the fire. His wings ached from carrying the large loads, but he wasn't yet ready to sleep. Hearing something from the tent, he glanced over at the sleeping forms of Rae, Violetta, and a cat that he suspected was Roary. But, upon seeing nothing suspicious, turned back to the fire.
