For centuries, the land of Tethra has been stable, led by a double government. There was the higher monarchy by which kings and queens ruled Tethra, sometimes just, sometimes harsh. The magic weilders had their own government then, a Council of Magi headed by the most powerful whom earned the title "Sorcerer" or "Sorceress." Though under the control of the Monarch, the Council always held much sway, and their grip has grown through the years. For the last few decades, a Sorceress has led the Council of Magi, and she is considered one of the greatest in history.
Of late, a quiet unrest has been growing. There are those who believe the Council of Magi is becoming too powerful in the land. There are also those who believe the Council has lost something important, though if such rumors are true, only members would know what it was.

Raven finished cleaning, stepping out of the river fully clothed and soaking wet. It had only been a year ago she had developed the habit of cleaning herself insessantly. But then, it had only been a year ago her slavery had ended.
Not that she was free now, she thought as she brushed her hair. She could never be truly free.
She heard something then in the trees and quickly hid. Noticing her things were sitting out where they could be seen, she told Shade to hide them.

A group of slavers walked by the area, dragging a giant wooden pole between them. Tied to that pole was a wretched woman, her face hidden beneath a tattered blood-stained cloak. She was crying, sobbing loudly. You could hear it. As she sobbed small drops of blood would come out of the front of her hood. As she looked up at one of the slavers, the man turned around and whacked her with the dull side of his sword, sending more blood to the ground.
The second man carrying the pole looked up at him, "Why don't we just leave her here...let the wolves take care of her..."
The one with the sword smiled, and signalled them to stop. "Hmph...your right...she said to kill her, lets let her rot..." He said, as the men moved to the side of the road. They quickly took out some rope, and tied the pole to the thick boughs of a tree, jamming it between the branches.

Raven watched, feeling not only her own disgust but Shade's as well. She felt sorry for the woman.
Shade, hurry them up. Get them away.
The large raven sqawked loud before dropping, circling round the heads of the men yet staying out of harm's way.

As the raven attacked him the Leader quickly drew his sword, but decided not to waste his energy. "D**n birds...lets just go..." He said, as the other two slavers gave a little 'Aye Sah!' and followed in suit, unslinging their long spears from their backs. They walked in a small formation, with the two spear-holders on either side of the man weilding the sword.
Alpha looked up from below her hood, one of her red eyes gleaming in the light. She couhed again and looked down, spitting up blood.

Once Raven could no longer here the marching men, she came out from some bushes to look at the woman. She went to her sack to get her dagger then came back and began cutting at the ropes. Shade helped as well with his beak.
When the woman was free Raven did her best to keep her from falling over, helping her to sit resting against the tree. Shade dug though the sack for a few bandages, bringing them to Raven.

The woman leaned against the tree, breathing heavily although her lung was probably collapsed. "Thanks kid..." she says as she wraps the bandages on her open wounds, as her cloak moves she reveals her many 'tools'. Daggers, poison threads, ect. They were well disguised in her leathers, but somewhat easy to pick up on if you looked hard enough.

Raven backed away from the woman when she desided she had bandaged her enough. With a meek smile, she waved her hand and began gathering her things to leave.
She'd helped the woman. That was enough.
'I remember when you would have at least stayed the night with the poor woman,' she heard Shade say in her head.
'I remember when I wasn't chased.'

Alpha watched as she walked away, somehow finding her voice again. "Thank you...." She said to the girls back as she walked away. She had a strange empathic feeling from that girl, and the raven especially. She continued to scour the scene with her dark eye's, looking around for Magi Soliders. Without seeing any she half limped, half walked over to the spot the girl had emerged from, and took refuge in there to rest.

Raven stopped dead in her tracks and looked over after a moment. The only one in her life who had ever thanked her for anything was Shade. Maybe... No, she couldn't take the chance.
She finished getting her things, raised her arm for the raven who promtly flew to her, and started on her way.

Alpha watched as the mysterious girl walked away, her eye's scouring the area for discarded goods, such as scraps of food, or peices of fabric. Finding nothing she sighed and grabbed some blueberries off of a blueberry bush nearby, knowing all of the poisonous plants and such in the area. She gave them a sniff, and looked them over carefully before tossing a few in her mouth.

Riding up on his horse Sir Peel could see a woman sitting by a tree eating berries. Riding towards her he could tell she was not a normal woman. " Ma'am may I help you? Are you lost?"

Raven heard the horse and went back a bit, close enough to see from behind a tree. Her eyes went wide when she saw the man, the way he was dressed.
The others must have sent him to make sure the woman died. He'd see the bandages. She'd tell him about Raven. He'd know, he'd come looking.
She turned to run, hesitated a moment. Maybe he wouldn't. She didn't really want to leave the woman to the mercy of this stranger... but she didn't even know her. So she ran, Shade flying rather than resting on her arm.

"you have two choices..." Alpha says in her whisper-esque voice. "...you leave...or you cease to be.." She finishes with a sinister smile, and drawing several throwing knives from her cloak. The knives were tipped with sinister looking purple tint, hinting to be some sort of poison.

Backing his horse away Peel drew his sword. " Ma'am I am no threat to you. So lay down your arms for I wish not to fight you. I am now your enemy. So please do lay down your arms and I shall lay mine down to."
