(Ladies and gentleman, another thread by yours truly. However, this will be a bit different. I will be taking the role of a game master in this thread. I will control characters every now and then for the players too interact with to further the story along. This thread will not die, whahahahahahahha!) Witches exist among us. They have for centuries trying to stay out of the lime light, hiding their powers. However, in recent years, a secret government organization has begun to hunt down those that have shown signs of practicing their craft. Elite hunters who seem to be immune to any magic used against them, or so it would seem. Science has devised a way to counter magic, how it has not yet been determined. One thing is certain though, those that are part of the craft are in trouble. Any one witch that shows any signs as being active, the government will consider a threat. Setting: New York City, Late rainy afternoon in winter

Julie ran shivering into the cafe, soaked from walking out in the rain. She hadn't realized the big city would be so... big. She'd have to go right back out in it though to find a hotel to spend the night in, maybe wait out the rain. She didn't want a cab. She only had so much money, and cabs could get pretty expencive.
She ordered a nice warm mocha. Maybe the rain would stop before she was done.

"Here's your mocha miss," said the man behind the counter,"Take your time on it. It looks like it might get worse before it gets better out there."
He finished handing the drink over with a smile......

"Thanks. You really think it's gonna get worse?" Julie said.

"Oh yeah, without a doubt," the bartender said with a smile.
"Stay here for a while, wouldn't want you to catch a cold. Besides, the longer you stay, you might order more," he said laughing....

Julie smiled and rolled her eyes, but thanked the man. She sat down by a window so she could look out. Not that there was much to see.

The bartender turned around and looked at the new customer. He didn't look like he was in a talkative mood, so he gave the man his order with a smile and returned to his other customers....

"THank you sir." With that the young man walked over to a seat accross from Julie and sat. Under the brim of his hat he looked at the girl.

Julie looked up at the newcomer. "Hi," she said. "Um, can I help you? Not that I work here, but I'm curious why you came over here."
She blushed a little at her stumbling words. She didn't know what to say to these city people. She'd heard they didn't care to talk much.

Derik, a patrolman for the NYPD, blinked some of the sleepiness ou tof his eyes and tried to focus on the Street. He hated driving in the rain. His partner, Randy, was snoozing with a little bit of drool oozing from his open mouth. Derik nudged him. "Come on, Im gonna make a stop at this place up here for some coffee. You want anything?" Randy shook his head and dozed back off. Derik pulled the patrol car up to the curb and put it in park. "Watch the car." he said sarcaisticly, as he got out, putting on his cap.

Barely lifting his head he looks up at the girl. "The reason I sat here is cause I thought the view here lit up this dreay night more then a spot light would have." Smiling he continues to look at Julie. "The name is Seth, Seth Bran. What is yours?"

Julie relaxed a bit and smiled. Holding out her hand over the table she said, "Julie Balthazar. Nice to meet you."

*The rain was cold and hurting her brused back and her body had been banged up bad enough...she HAD to find shelter soon. As she saw the light of the cafe on she desided a good cup of somthing hott wouldn't be so bad. She runs across a few puddles and finally reaches the door. She opens it and sees the custumers and desides to just sit at a seat near the counter. Finally she gets enough courage and goes to the counter* " uh.....how much will this get me?" the woman asked. She held out a wrinckled dollar and a few pennies.*

"It will get something to warm up with," the bartender said with a smile.
"What will it be miss. Coffee, hot chocolate," he asked in a polite manner. This guy took the old business policies 'The customer is always right' and 'always be nice to the customers' to heart and to a whole new level, a creeepy level...
