"Hey relax, I was kidding. I'm not defending smugglers, most of us are bad people. But there are a few good ones." He could see that he had struck a nerve. Hopefully she wasn't to mad. He was enjoying the company, and he didn't want a Jedi mad at him if he could help it.

"Like you?" *Atalanta smiled a little, leaning against the table.*

"Ya like me." He kept a strait face while he said it, but it didn't last long. He had to laugh when he called himself a good person. He wasn't as bad as some people, but he was no saint either.

*Atalanta laughed with him, shaking her head lightly.* "You have to buy me quite a few more drinks before I believe that."

"I could arrange that." With that he got up and went to the bar. He came back with drinks that were a bit less damaging to the taste buds. "Hope you don't mind a slightly weaker drink, I still have to find my way back to my ship tonight."

"Considering the fact that I'm going home to a wookie Jedi tonight, that might not be such a bad idea. I don't need Mahtocca roaring at me all night long about drinking..."

"I thought it was a pretty good idea myself. I don't want a Jedi mad at me, and I don't want a wookie mad at me. And I especially don't want a Wookie Jedi mad at me."

*Atalanta laughed a little.* "Trust me, it's not a fun experience. Mahtocca manages to stick with the code and control her anger most of the time but get her going and... well... You can just imagine."

He laughed a little. "I'd rather not."

*Atalanta smiled, leaning back in her chair slightly as she took a sip of her drink.* "All right... I believe we've heard enough about me and my crazy wookie... Time for you to talk for a while."

Denan hesitated for a moment. He didn't like to tell his stories, at least not at the same time. That left nothing to talk about later. "I don't have too many exciting stories that would make sense without hearing the story before them. I guess we'll start at the begining. After I left Ord Mantell I worked for whoever would hire me. Not much happened during that time. I did meet Sham then though. He was my partner for a while. He was an older guy from some out of the way place, I can't recall the name of at the moment. He was one of those good people I was talking about. He's the one who found the Madman's Prayer. She would have been his if he hadn't died." He paused to take a drink and wondered if she was interrested in what he was saying or just being nice and listening to an old friend ramble on.

*Atalanta raised an eyebrow at that, leaning on the table again.* "Go on..."

"We were dropping off our cargo in some godforsaken little place and stopped for a drink. Sham went over to join a small sabbac game in a corner of the bar. He was a bit of a card sharp. I say a bit because he wasn't that good at it when he was drinking. He was drinking that night and got caught cheating. There was a small fire fight. I got there too late to save him, but the guy who shot him didn't leave that bar alive. After that I went home and got a message from a guy selling his ship. Sham had been ready to buy it when he died. He had no family, so I got what little money he had. I also got the ship he had wanted." It was a sad story and Denan had a hard time holding himself together when he thought of how he had been too late to save his friend. But that was the past, he told himself, and that's the one thing you can't change, so there's no need to worry about it.

*Atalanta lowered her gaze slightly.* "I'm sorry... I didn't realize..." *She shook her head a little.*

"It's alright. He's gone now and no one can change that. Ok I told a story now it's your turn." He was glad to listen for a while. Maybe he could think of an interresting story in the mean time.
