Nilyn returned the smile almost devilishly. "How well can you keep up?" Digging her heels into Mishka's flank, the Ranger and her steed sped off towards the river at breakneck speed.

Sleipnir reared up as Mishka sped past him. He wanted this and Manadhon was not about to try and stop him. He even enjoyed a little race every now and then and it might calm his nerves.
The moment that Sleipnir's hit dirt, he took off as if the Ring Wraiths themselves were at his heels. There was a big gap between the to horses. Something that Manadhon found a little shocking, but grinned.
"Sleipnir,"he hollered into the horses ear as wind whipped past him. He was clinging to his back, trying to make himself as small as possible, and to try to hang on.
"My friend," he continued,"It looks like you might have met your match." The response from the horse was immediate. He grunted and increased his footfalls. Closing the gap between the two little by little. Manadhon had momentarily forgotten about the clouds. He didn't even feel the few sprinkles that fell around him, as the clouds were catching up with both of them faster than naturally possible....

Mishka whinnied in delight as the two horses raced on. The black mare slowed her pace, and galloped shoulder-to-shoulder with Sleipnir. She hadn't said more than a quick hello to any other horse before, and she was hoping to finally make a friend.
Nin laughed as they sped on, unaware of the approaching storm. "See, Manadhon? I told you she was fast!!" Nilyn had felt the drops, too, but was momentarily distracted by the horses' sudden outburst.

Sleipnir bumped Mishka a little. He had wanted a challenge and now she was letting him run beside her. He was mad, but Manadhon quickly realized he was sulking because he hadn't caught her.
"Easy boy," he said, patting his flank,"No need to be upset."
He turned to Nilyn smiling,"He doesn't like bing showed up," he said. The horse quickly got into a playful mood again. It wasn't too often that either of them made friends. Then they realized that the clouds had caught up, the sky was almost as dark as night and lightning flashed across the sky.
"We need a place to camp until it let's up, any ideas Ranger," he said just as the wind started kicking up and the rain began to pick up as well...

Mishka couldn't wait for the rain to stop- she had something special planned for her new-found friend. She continued on, running besides Sleipnir as her rider discussed things with Manadhon.
"Hm...There's a small cliff over-hang on this side of the river, not too far from here. It's been a while, but if I remember right, it should be just a few minute's ride from here." Nilyn turned Mishka, and they cantered down a gentle slope, running diagonal with the swift water. In the distance, the overhang could just barely be seen through the dark clouds and thick rainfall. Already, Mishka's flanks were soaked with the big drops.

Sleipnir followed close behind Mishka, but not so close that if one fell they would drag the other down with them. However, he was having trouble keeping his footing. He was a Rohan horse, and not use to terrain like this. Manadhon could sense his friend's uneasiness as he walked this path.
"Easy boy," he said into his ear for he was trying to keep himself out of the wind,"You can do this, we're almost there."
But just before reaching the overhang, Sleipnir did loose his footing, sending Manadhon off of him as he slid down towards the river that had become a torrent of raging water in a very short time.
"Sleipnir!" he screamed as he scramble to his feet, almost slipping himself and went after his friend, intending to save him but not knowing how he could possibly do it....

Nilyn didn't know what to do as she saw Manadhon's steed go slipping down the hill, but Mishka did. Born and raised in terrain like this, she could keep her footing well.
She charged down the muddy slope and dug in with her sharp hooves. She braced as Sleipnir came closer, and readied for the impact. Nilyn sat stunned on the mare's back; she didn't realize Mishka cared about Manadhon's horse so much. "Stay there!! Don't come any farther or you may not be able to stop!!"

Manadhon rushed down the bank as quick as possible as Sleipnir stopped thanks to the bravery of her horse. He had never seen a horse actually try to save another before from a peril as this. However all he could think about right then was making sure that his friend was alright.
He clawed his way to them, trying to be careful. He had almost lost his own footing, but as he got to Sleipnir he began checking for any injuries. He seemed a bit frazzled, but no worse for wear. A thunder clap nearby followed by a lightning bolt striking a tree on the other side of the bank brought his thoughts back around to their danger. This storm wasn't right.
He grabbed Sleipnir's reins and began guiding him into the outcropping to get out of the storm. He motioned for Nilyn to dismount as well before moving. Gratitude would have to wait until they were out of danger....

Nilyn silently followed, her short hair and outfit soaked in the downpoor. Mishka fared just as well, but both were used to this weather; they were Rangers, were they not?
Coming into the overhang, she quickly pulled off her mare's gear and began grooming her. Nilyn fed the black Friesian a few whithered apples, then handed some to Manadhon for Sleipnir. "Here, he should have some of these as a kind of treat."

TWANG!
An arrow struck its target true. The deer fell as the projectile peirced its heart and killed it instantly. The hunter approached its dead prey. The man was tall, cladded in a grey/grey cloak which made him almost invisible in the forest that surrounded him.
Artorius had always liked the rain, not only was it great cover, he always loved the sound it made. As he approached his target, he removed the arrow and got rid of unnessasry weight such as the horns etc...
Pleased with his success of the hunt he now looked for shelter to cook his well earned meal.
He knew of a little outcrop just perfect for a cooking fire and a place to keep dry while he cooked and ate his meal.
As he strode to his destination he heard horse and people talking. Sastified the voices were not of orckish tongue he carried on towards the strangers. His eyes grim and questioning

Manadhon followed suit in grooming Sleipnir. He was still a little skittish, but a rub down from him and the apples provided by Nilyn soon fixed that.
"Thanks," he said, meaning it for both the apples and the rescue of his friend,"To both of you."
He got lost himself in his thoughts for a little while grooming his horse until he thought he heard something outside. He pulled a short dagger he usually kept on his hip out.
"Nilyn, did you hear something," he said. It was storming so loud, he hoped she heard him. Truthfully, Sleipnir's ear swiveling into the other direction brought his attention to the sound he thought he heard....

Nilyn turned to Manadhon, and her eyes widened slightly at the dagger. "What's wrong? Is something out there?" She put down the rough cloth she used to dry her horse and followed suit in acquiring a weapon.
She walked within a few feet of the edge of the over hand. "Who or what goes there?" Nilyn looked back to her new friend. "Might as well sound scary, no?" She had a mischievious grin on her face.

Artorius heard shouting...
'Hmmm looks like we have some new tenants' He thought to himself. He saw there was a dull little fire that gave the two figures some height, though a little unsure of what awaited him he pressed on towards to spot, dripping in rain.
As he moved closer he saw a glint of a weapon, with the silver flash to his eye he instantly drew his bow and cocked and arrow aiming at the danger. As he approached he roared out in his heavily northern accent.
'I am known around here as Artorius, what is your name and business in these lands?'
He carried on walking up towards the light, his bow ready to plunge its way through the skull of a waiting bandits that were using the outcrop as shelter. Though as he reached the opening, to his surprise stood and man and woman with two horses and angry and uncertain expressions on there wet faces. As he glanced at the woman for the second time and gave a small smile and spoke in a tongue only understood by those who were meant to understand it...
'Suilannon achen, Lady Ranger'
Not waiting for a reply, Artorius nodded to her and quietly replied as if was custom upon meeting one of his kin'
'Law pain i reviar mistar aen' (Not all those who wander are lost) 'Artorius eneth nîn' (Artorius is my name)
He turned to the man and said...
'Greetings Rider of the Mark, Hwæt nemnað ðe? (What is your name - In Rhorric)
Awaiting the reply, Artorius still kept his bow in hand, still seeing the others had not yet lowered theirs.

((Wow. I've forgotten about the different languages. That's great you know them, but...I obviously don't))
Nilyn nodded at the greeting, but was surprised he knew her for what she was. "If you put that bow away, you can join us out of this rainstorm. My name is Nilyn, and this is Manadhon." She said, pointing to the man before her. She sheathed her weapon, but kept the shortsword drawn to polish it.
"Manadhon, I think he's friendly, so don't try to attack him." Mishka had a feeling for people, and she merely nodded in quiet ascent at Artorius. "And Mishka approves of him, so hopefully it's okay." The young girl said these few words quietly, meaning only for Manadhon to hear them.

Manadhon had sheathed his dagger as Nilyn had put up her own weapon. He was accustom to being around others who knew what was dangerous and what was not. However, not even her horse being at ease was enough to get him to let his guard down. Sleipnir was of a like mind.
He was still skittish from the fall, but he wasn't addled enough to let his friend come to danger just because he was scared.
"Come, Artorious," he said,"It's storming out there and last we need is for a new acquaintance to get sick from the rain."
He had moved back to Sleipnir and gotten him settled for the duration of the storm. Sleipnir kept his eyes on the stranger the entire time like an overgrown guard dog.
"I cannot promise I will not hurt him, Nilyn," he had said as he passed her to get to his pack,"That is a decision for him to make..."
