Okay, here's what I'm thinking:
Stronghold board.
Two modes, Peace, story.
Peace:People build their own castle. Live in harmony. Run their estate, and possibly buy more. There are no attacks or worries in this mode. Just have fun building castles and running them with everyone else.
Story:People build their own castle on their estate. Run your estate and build up an army (in need be). Attack or defend, make peace or wage war. Some one needs to be king of the land of course
. You can buy extra estates,
TroopsLord - The most important peson in the castle, he is the manager of the castle but also a superb warrior. Should he fall in combat however the game will be lost.
Archer - These lightly armoured missile troops are your standard ranged unit. Their light armour makes them one of the fastest units in the game but they pay the price in hand to hand where they are somewhat below par! Their long ranged arrows are very successful against weakly armoured troops but their arrows struggle to penetrate better armoured opposition.
Armed Peasant - Armed only with a pitchfork these cheap soldiers are untrained and very weak in combat, but can serve quite usefully to find sneaky traps set down by the enemy.
Assassin
With the very convenient tool of a grappling hook these troops are elite and very specialist. Being invisible to the enemy at long range makes assassins perfect for tasks such as capturing enemy gatehouses, but you need to use a lot of honour to hire one.
Axe Thrower
In close range these troops are devastating, throwing their endless supply of axes towards a very unfortunate enemy soldier.
Berserker
Although vulnerable to missile fire these soldiers are very strong in combat and equipped with the largest charge bonus in the game the first contact with the enemy is shattering!
Crossbowman
Although they are slower to reload, move slower and have a shorter range than archers crossbow bolts are very much more powerful and can penetrate clean though metal armour.
Engineer
These extremely flexible units trained in the engineer’s guild supply your army with a wide range of siege equipment, for defence or attack.
Fighting Monk
Only deficient of armour these tough soldiers are a useful asset to any army; they are fast around the battlefield and strong in combat.
Horse Archer
With the extremely useful benefit of being able to fire while moving Horse archers can run rings around any army.
Knight
Their ability in hand to hand combat is exceptional and almost on a par with the Lord. However these troops do not come cheap and so are a rare sighting on the battlefield.
Ladderman
Being extremely cheap to purchase makes up for their vulnerability to missile fire. They very fast moving troops but must be deployed quickly. Having set up his ladder a ladderman can return to camp for another.
Light Cavalry
Natural born riders hobelars come armed with a spear and with medium armour. Being the fastest unit in the game makes them extremely useful in sallying form to destroy enemy siege equipment or running down enemy missile troops.
Maceman
You do not want mace men charging your way! They are fast moving and can cause a lot of damage very quickly making them the perfect attacking troops, their only weakness missile fire.
Outlaw
Armed with two weapons, firstly a javelin to be thrown at oncoming enemy soldiers before bringing out his sword to do battle! The javelin needs a short ‘recharge’ time before it can be thrown again. Also, their ability to hide in woods unnoticed makes for them to be the perfect ambush troops.
Pictish Boat Warrior
Carrying a small boat for himself on his back these very specialist and unique units are perfect for attacking spots that were thought to have been safe. Water is no longer the blockade it once was!
Pikeman
They are mainly used for defence due to their slow movement and very heavy armour. Being able to sustain a lot of damage makes them very useful around the castle, not only holding off enemy attacks but digging moats under missile fire
Spearman
These readily available troops are relatively fast moving and cheap to churn out, their speed aids in digging moats and for the tricky task of removing enemy ladders from the walls.
Swordsman
Being so heavily armoured like pikemen they are extremely slow but when in combat they quickly show that they are elite warriors having both a superb defence and attack.
Thief
These ellusive units have the ability to hide themsleves as farmers and steal gold from your treasury. They are fast moving and carry a sword for hand to hand comabt. Thieves can be spotted and reprimanded by guards but can also be uncovered manually by clicking on them. Just be careful if your farmers are spending too much time near the treasury! They do have a high honour cost to hire them.
Warrior Monk
Trained to fight hard for their religion these troops are heavily armoured and very handy with a sword and shield. They are very cheap in gold cost but only very honourable Lords will be able to maintain a large force of them.
Ballista
Mounted on your towers these are able to launch a bolt with incredible force. These units are very good at taking down enemy siege equipment and heavily armoured soldiers.
Battering Ram
Able to sustain a lot of damage battering rams are the perfect weapon to take down enemy gatehouses. These slow moving units require four engineers to make them operational.
Brazier
An archer standing close to a brazier will light his arrow before firing, braziers are essential for lighting pitch ditches.
Burning Cart
Manned by two engineers burning carts are filled with pitch and hay, once near the enemy the hay is set alight and the cart pushed forwards to cause havoc amongst the enemy ranks.
Cat
Requiring four engineers to operate the cat is a superb way to protect your infantry from enemy missile fire while for example they fill in the enemy’s moat!
Catapult
These mobile siege units are capable of destroying enemy structures and walls from a distance. They fire with a low trajectory and have a medium length range and attack. They also have the ability to launch dead cattle against to inside the enemy walls to spread disease. Each catapult needs two engineers to function.
Fire Ballista
Brilliantly accurate fire ballistae are excellent against enemy units and can set wooden buildings on fire with their flaming bolts, however they do no damage to stone structures.
Mangonel
Mounted on your towers, their sprays of rocks are potentially devastating to enemy soldiers but can do damage you your own defences and walls due to their inaccuracy.
Mantlet
Although very vulnerable to infantry attacks a mantlet is a useful tool to protect your own infantry from enemy volleys as they absorb any missile fire within a short radius of them. Much smaller than a cat a mantlet requires one engineer to operate it.
Oil Smelter
Spare engineers will automatically man the oil smelter if pitch is available on the stockpile. The first engineer keeps the smelter filled with pitch while the next three engineers automatically assigned have pots filled with oil that can be used against attackers. Engineers will also immediately run to re-fill their pots once they have thrown it down onto the enemy.
Rolling Logs
A truly overwhelming weapon in defence burning logs can be unleashed onto the enemy. Placed on walls the logs are replenished after a certain amount of time has elapsed from them being released.
Siege Towers
There are two types of siege tower, small and large. Both require four engineers but the large siege tower can have missile troops on the upper level firing across at the enemy walls. When a siege tower is told to attack a wall it will move towards it and when close enough put down its gangplank allowing your men access to the enemy castle. They can be devastating weapons in attack, a very fast way of eliminating enemy soldiers off the walls.
Stone Tipper
Placed on walls stone tippers release their load onto enemy soldiers beneath the walls. After a period of time the stones are replenished and the tipper can be used again.
Trebuchet
Unlike catapults trebuchets cannot be moved when set up but have to be packed up by engineers. However, when set up these awesome machines can bring a castle to its knees very quickly. They have a huge range and fire with a high arc, perfect for firing over walls but they do lack the accuracy of catapults. They can also fire dead and diseased cattle to spread disease. They require three engineers to function.
War Hounds
Automatically released when the enemy gets close war hounds will attack anything that they see, you or the enemy! Don’t open them up when you have your own soldiers around them.
I’ll provide a map if need be, but I believe most of you know what Europe looks like.
Of course, if it is voted for and done up on the board, I really don’t feel like being king of the lands. And if you have any questions please PM. This is just SOME of the info. For full info, google it, and look at every link there. Or you could play the games.
