The girl was standing by the now dead horse. She got there soon after the man had killed it and then turned from it. She knelt by the poor creatures side and pet its mane gently, a sad expression on her face. She understood why the horse had been killed, and really it was better this way.
She put on a small sad smile and silently wished the creature a happy journey before jogging over to the pretty woman and tugging lightly at a bit of her clothing.
She looked up at her and smiled pleasantly, happy to see that her companion had done a good job in protecting them and that she was unharmed.

"there you are." Glacia smiled down at the girl, "you just completely disappeared, where did you go?" she didn't know how the girl had just disappeared, but Glacia hadn't really been paying attention, so could've easily slipped away.

Mammoth looked back behind him at Glacia, who had begun talking to the mute girl again. Mammoth shook his had and turned back toward the two.
"Lets go..." He paused, knowing what he was going to say was going to sound heartless, "Leave her, we can't take her where we're going."
He knew there would be some protest, but he couldn't risk taking along another person who absolutely could not defend themselves. He had a job to do, he couldn't be taking care of children while he was on the journey. This one had no business being here. At least Glacia had a reason to join the hunt...

The young girl looked at him quizzically. She wasn't hurt by his rejection, but how could she stay behind?
She let out a silent sigh and knelt by some flowers that surrounded her tree. The ran her fingers over the petals as she thought.
She was stuck between not wanting to burden these people and not wanting to be alone again. She could take care of herself, she wouldn't burden them. If anything she could follow at a distance, be with them but not bother them. That sounded like a good idea to her.
She looked back toward the people, wondering how close he would let her follow.

"how come?" Glacia looked at the girl before looking over at Mammoth. She didn't understand why he said she couldn't go. The girl had somehow managed to live under a tree for who knows how long and could apparently take care of herself, so Glacia really didn't understand the problem.

Mammoth sighed and rubbed his face with his left hand.
"Because I can't sit here and watch after two of ya, even if Kirin decides to be a Dragon from time to time. This is a war, not a camp..." Mammoth said, shaking his head, "Ya want her to come, you get to take care of her, I'll do what I can, but if it comes down to stopping the demon or saving her, my priority is the demon..."
He looked over at her, there was something about the girl that said she had more intelligence than she let on. Something told Mammoth she was much older than he assumed. He looked back at Glacia, waiting to see what her reaction would be before he turned around and rode toward the crevice.

The young girl listened intently to them talking. She perked up upon hearing what to her was as good as an invitation to follow then... though she had planned to do that anyway. She smiled widely and stood up, about to go after them.
Before taking a whole step she paused and looked at the large tree. She placed her hand against its trunk, the bark rough but soothing against her palm. She looked at it a moment with a gentle, almost sad expression, then lowered her hand and turned away from it.
It was better this way. Better to move on than to be stuck in an unmoving state.
Her small frame heaved as she took a deep breath then ran forward to catch up with the travelers.

Glacia saw the girl heading towards them, "I don't get it... aren't you stopping the demon to help people? but you won't help someone outside of that?"

Mammoth didn't respond as he waited for the two to catch up. He wasn't going to bother answering the question as he felt he would be wasting his breath. She wouldn't understand. She couldn't... He couldn't fail, lest he be dooming the entire world. Taking on another person that couldn't defend themselves in battle was just another hindrance to his fight, he had to look out for them... She didn't realize the struggle he faced, and the wear it had on his mind. He lived in exile every day after his brother died, knowing his duty, knowing what was at stake. Now, he goes after that duty, and he has to look out for two practically defenseless women that he is bringing to this danger for no other reason than they have nowhere else to go.
Mammoth continued waiting and pointed to the second horse and nodded to the new girl, telling her to get on the horse. She could ride that one rather easily. She was light enough it wouldn't burden the horse.
"We're not far... Maybe a day to the crevice..."

Glacia sighed, "I just don't get it... why go through so much effort to get rid of a threat to everyone, but ignore those who need you right here?..." she sighed softly
She understood the idea of a greater good and helping many for the sake of one... but when just one person came around who needed help... and you didn't help them? It just didn't seem right.

The girl looked up at the horse than man had pointed to. She understood the instruction full well, but how was she supposed to follow it. To begin with she wasn't sure she was capable of climbing onto the beat's back by herself. But that was he least of the problems. How could she take reign over an animal? A free spirit? She understood the need for the large man to ride, and as for the young woman, her animal companion seemed more than happy to assist her, she wasn't controlling it.
If she asked the animal permission, let him know maybe that she didn't really want to burden him... but shed been asleep so long she doubted she could get him to understand her. She couldn't even get these humanoid beings to understand her.

Mammoth looked back as the girl seemed hesitant to want to ride the horse. Mammoth couldn't figure out what the issue was, so rather than waste more time than was necessary in figuring it out, he just told her the truth.
"We're gonna be movin' faster than ya can on foot. So either ride the horse or get left behind. Don't worry, ya are as light as a feather to him. Or convince Kirin to let two ride her." Mammoth said, laughing a bit.
Mammoth was regretting allowing either of them to follow. Glacia pressed on with her nagging question. He had figured out his answer, but he wasn't going to say, he figured it better remain in his mind, for he didn't know if these two could take it. The smaller, possibly younger one, seemed unphased by anything, but Glacia was more in tune to her emotions.
Mammoth waited, seeing what the girl would do, if she didn't make a decision soon, he would leave her behind and let Glacia deal with her. His patience was wearing out...

She looked at him, her expression somewhat incredulous. Even if she wanted to ride the poor creature how was she to mount it. She sighed inwardly as she thought. She really did not wish to be left alone.
She weighed her options for a moment then walked to the front of the creature she was meant to ride. She raised her hands up and the creature lowered its head until she could touch it, then she stood on tiptoe and pressed a kiss to it's forehead. The creature met her eyes.
It wasn't easy communicating, and it made her sleepy to try, but the point seemed to get through. Slowly the creature lowered itself to the ground and she mounted it, clinging to it's neck as it stood back up.
((I say creature repeatedly becasue i always feel like Im spelling 'horse' wrong.))

"Well I'll be d**ned..." Mammoth said, watching what happened as the girl began to ride the horse. He shifted in his saddle as he looked back at his two companions before kicking the horse to a good gallop. He planned on making this trip quickly, they'd lost enough time....
(Doing a bit of a time skip here...)
As the day grew long and night came, they came upon the entrance to the crevice. Mammoth had stayed silent for the trip, not wishing to bring up Glacia's interrogation again. He didn't know what to do for the mute girl, as everything with her was even more complicated than with Glacia. Although the horse issue came once before they began, it came again when Mammoth needed to switch horses so as to not harm the one he began the ride on. ((I will leave how mute girl dealt with this to you, Darklight)).
Now that they arrived, Mammoth dismounted the horse and walked up to the crevice opening, he knew it would take most of the night to traverse it to the depths, where he could investigate the damage that Dace had done... If it was truly him. Closer now to his first lead, Mammoth went about making a torch, grabbing some kindling and dried brush, setting it in a split log, wrapping it tightly and in multiple layers, and then lit it with his flint and knife.
He looked back to the two who had come with him, and then started the journey into the now desolate wasteland that was once a home of serenity and beauty. There wasn't much more proof needed that Dace had been here than that....
