"You're such a liar!"
"No, I'm serious! My aunt and uncle use to have a summer home around there, and I got lost. I ended up at that old castle, but it was dark, so I stayed the night, and the place is totally haunted!"
"Would that be the same aunt and uncle who have a summer home in, like, every country?"
"Hey, come on, it's true!"
"Whatever. You're so weird."
They had already forgotten how the conversation had turned to the old castle several miles out of town; the small group of women had come to the park to guy watch, not talk about ghosts and musty old buildings.
"Hey, I'd do it again, if I had someone to keep me company." The one speaking smirked, knowing none would agree. There were plenty legends, and many people already thought the place was haunted. Wendy's tale would be that safe, at least. "It was so creepy, I wouldn't ever go alone again. First you just feel like something's watching you, something evil... then it gets hard to breath, and you feel all cold..."
"Like this?"
The words didn't offer Wendy enough warning, being said at the same time that a bit of ice from of of their sodas was dropped down her back. She lept up with a yelp, tugging at the back of her Tee to get the little frozen block out and falling over in the process. Her shout of, "You guys are so evil!" was met with laughter from her friends.
"Why would anyone want to go there anyway?" one managed to ask through giggles. "I bet it's totally nasty and full of spiderwebs!"
"Yeah, and my douche of a professor gave a ton of homework," another groaned.
"Hmph. Then I guess you'll just have to take me word, huh?"

"Hey! Gordon!"
Gordon Carter stopped and turned around, his friend Stewart running up behind him. Gordon raised a brow at the man who was running toward him.
"Yeah?"
"Gordon! God dammit man! That old castle up a few miles east of here, ya know it?!"
"Yeah."
"Dwight's dumbass kid and her friends are going up there, apparently a neighbor overheard them in the park! They're gonna get themselves hurt in that old place, its about to fall down!"
"And he's stuck at his job, and his wife just now found out?"
"Yeah... How'd you know?"
"It's Dwight..."
"Good point... Anyway man, we gotta go get them before they do something stupid up there, you got your truck?"
"Dammit, those girls are old enough... Why the hell can't we let the place fall on them and maybe they'll learn their lesson. Besides, if its their one neighbor, that woman overreacts to everything..."
"Gordon..."
"I know... lets go... Why the hell are college kids so d**n stupid..."

Toryn Mitchell was in the library, doing some history research on the town for some extra credit in history class. While flipping through some old volumes, she came across a photo of an old castle, although the photo was taken in the past, before it became all run-down and deserted.
Reading through the short passage about who lived there and it's small history, she decided to take a hike up to the place and take a few pictures, maybe see for herself some history than wasn't pushed aside for strip malls and the like.
Checking out the book to take with her [it had a map of each floor, and some information that would be helpful to find the place], she went home and packed a small bag with some snack food, water, and a digital camera with extra cards just in case she took too many photos. Leaving a note for her mom, Toryn set out in her Jeep to the castle, unaware that the place was now haunted and unfit for visitors of any kind.

((Sorry. x.x ))
"Not a chance," one of the girls spoke up, erasing Wendy's smile. Another, next to the one who'd spoken, went on to say, "We don't have anything to hurry about, and I think I'd like a camping trip."
"What?"
"Well, ghosts seem to like it better when people are alone, so we'll stay outside and be there for you in the morning," the first said with a wink.
"Yeah, or if you get too scared!"
Great. She's done it now... Well, really, what did it matter? She'd made up all that about it being haunted anyway, so it wouldn't hurt. She'd just have to watch her step and keep from caving in anything that might be loose. From what she'd heard though, the place was actually pretty sturdy.
Smile reappearing on her face, she said, "Alright, but you two'd better escort me in like a proper lady."
Giggles broke around the group. "You, a lady?"
And so it was set. Rather spur of the moment, but hey, that just made things more interesting...

It was rough going up the much-untraveled road to the castle, but with her map laid out in the passenger's seat, Toryn had no difficulty going down the correct roads. Despite the fact that she probably rattled a few nuts and bolts loose and would possibly have a few bruises on her butt by morning, she made it in one piece and pulled up next to the run down old building. Wow. I wonder how it's been here since people last lived in it? She pulled out the book and flipped to the picture showing the castle in it's prime, and was astonished at how the landscape had begun to take over.
Pulling out her camera, she began taking photos of the ivy covering the walls and the surrounding area. The place amazed her, and she couldn't wait to get inside, but when she walked up to the doors, a huge metal padlock securely kept them from moving, and she sadly went back to the jeep, pondering what to do. Should she break the lock and go in anyways? Or just go home and call it a day?
[[an excellent time for some help to arrive to get into the place, if you know what i mean...]]

Gordon and Stewart drove up just as a girl was attempting to access that old place. As she headed back to her car the two pulled up behind her in Gordon's truck.
"Hey, what the hell are you doing up here?" Stewart yelled out of the passenger window.
Gordon got out of the front seat and walked over to look at the door while Stewart scolded the girl. The padlock was still securely in place. That was a good sign, considering dozens of years ago that was put up to keep the thing from being entered. It had been marked as a structural hazard and left to rot and fall. Gordon walked back to the car and pointed back at the castle behind him with his thumb.
"You go in there, you may not come out. d**n thing is about to fall over."
Gordon slapped Stewart on the shoulder and headed back to his truck.
"Tell your friends not to be stupid. Hate to see your parents mourning over your dead body." Gordon said harshly, annoyed that he had to make the trip up here. He didn't recognize the girl, but he assumed Dwight's kids were not far behind. With that, he started his engine.
"Come on. We gotta get back." Gordon called to Stewart.
"Dammit..." Stewart said under his breath, getting back into the car, "You know once we leave they're going in." He said.
"And?"
"AND!? and if they die its 'cause we didn't stop them!"
"Look Stu. I ain't their father, if they wanna get themselves killed, it ain't my problem. We tried, but we gotta get back to work. You wanna stay, be my guest."
"Ahh..." Stewart said, waving his hand as the two pulled away to head back to work, "We're coming back after work to check the lock."
Gordon shook his head, "Fine, but Dwight's paying me for watching out for his dumbass kids..." Gordon laughed

Melodee was a fan of 'ancient' pieces of art, preferably structural buildings. Today she had decided to look at the towns old real state buildings, as a result she ventured to the library. Arriving she noticed an excited girl leaving, carrying a rather dusty book, 'Must be a treasure map or something.' Melodee shrugged her shoulders.
"Miss!.. Young lady!?... Oh kids these days, always in a rush.." The librarian trailed off in mumbles. "What's wrong?" Melodee asked in concern. "That girl forgot to sign the book out... I suppose I'll have to wait till she finishes with it.." The librarian rolled her eyes and continued her work. "I'm sure everything will turn out fine. Do you happen to have a book about old buildings in town?" Melodee asked hopefully. The librarian nodded but then sighed, "That girl had our only copy..." Melodee groaned, "Looks like another adventure for me."
--------Flashback Ends------------
Melodee huffed as she began her trek up the large hill. Fearing that her minuscule beat up old bug wouldn't make it up, she had decided to hike up the hill. 'What a huge mistake.. why couldn't I have just went back home and made cookies or something?' Melodee rolled her eyes at her own foolishness, 'Too late now...' She had only made it a quarter of the way up when a car whizzed passed her. 'Guess the old house is getting a lot of attention today.' Melodee sighed in pain, 'This may take a while.'

Toryn heard the car rumbling up the road, but was startled when two guys hopped out and started yelling about not going in there and coming back after work and why was she up there and talking to each other. She didn't even get a chance to tell them she wasn't with the Dwight kids, that she was up here for extra credit school work before the sped off, back down the hill.
Well I guess I could take a look around the place, see what the grounds look like. She grabbed the map, a flashlight, and a machete, and headed around the side of the building, brushing ivy vines out of her way and chopping through over-grown hedges, unaware that she was soon going to have company.
