He saw a bit of a change in her body language. She was irritated, if that was the right word but kept quiet. Good progress, but not good enough. She wasn't ready to admit it yet but she would get there by the end of the journey if that ever came. He sure hoped he would be right, both ways.
They kept walking quietly, Caleb not speaking anymore. They reached a stream and he stopped. He sat down on a rock near the stream and started inspecting his cuts. There was nothing serious so he cut the section of the cloth around the area and then started washing it quietly.

As they stopped at a stream, Afine found it becoming very hard to keep herself quiet. He was right, with the way she acted, all her parents hard work would amount to nothing in the long run, she was not mature enough to take on the role of queen, she wasn't even instructed how to do so. She looked over to Caleb as he inspected his wounds.
She sat quietly on the ground, not caring about her clothes. She wondered when the men would leave, eventually give up, or if they would find them and kill them. She didn't know what was happening, but she was worried sick.

As Caleb glanced back towards the princess, he saw she was struggling to come to terms with the situation. He didn't want to push her further but he had to. He looked back and cleaned the cut on his waist at the side and spoke, "Afine, you should be keeping guard while I clean my wounds..."

She gave a curt nod, and stood up, reaching for her bow. She wasn't sure if she should practice.. since it will attract attention.. but what use is a guard when he or she can't use their weapon? She pondered on the thought, while aimlessly looking into the trees. They always seemed to play tricks on her, random shadows here and there, branches breaking. But of course it was her own imagination running wild.
She stopped at a rather large maple tree, noticing that there was something carved into the bark. She wished she could see the imprints, her curiousity grew even more because of that. She quickly gazed to another tree, her thoughts running wild.

Caleb looked back after a while and Afine was gone. He rolled his eyes. He had asked her to keep guard not to go play hide n' seek. He finished up as quickly as he could and got up, testing the few bandages he had made from strips of cloth.

Afine walked back over, searching the grounds with her eyes, a smile playing on her face. 'This is quite fun, guarding for your own life.' The smile became larger as she stood right by teh pond, lookign around the area, waiting for Caleb to be finished. She knew she was being an annoying, childish girl, but it really didnt matter as long as she did what she was told to do, 'did it ?' She questioned herself, while watching Caleb test the strengh of his bandages.

Caleb turned around to see Afine standing near the lake and was visibly relieved. At least now, he didn't have to go find her. He turned after he was sure the bandages would hold and motioned for Afine to follow him. He began leading her through the jungle, using one of his swords to cut down the least amount of bushes so as not to leave a very obvious trail to follow. They reached the section in the road he had decided to cross through to the otherside.
But ther was one problem, it had been fortified with a camp of soldiers. This was a bridge over the stream they had come across earlier. The only difference being, now the stream had turned into a small but fast flowing river. He looked up at the sky as the sun set and the colour began to darken. He turned around to tell to tell Afine what the plan would be.

Afine followed suit , hmmph-ing once in a while because of all the branches sticking out. She had little scratches here and there but nothing to worry about. Her face contorted into a look of distaste for all the effort they had to take in just to stay away from the evil 'do-ers'.
As soon as Caleb stopped Afine raised an eyebrow at him waiting for the commands that were going to be thrown, she looked up at him with a frown. She knew she were being difficult, but oh well.

He looked up at the sky again and thought it would be better to wait for darkness before attempting to get past this camp. He smiled and looked back suddenly at Afine and asked, "So what do you think we should do now? There is a camp of soldiers between us and the other side..." He wanted to give her the opportunity to decide on her own. If he did manage to lead her to safety, all she would have learned would be how to follow orders.

"You're asking me?" Afine asked surprised, not knowing what to say she gave him a blank look,"You expect me to come up with a plan. Afine, the princess, with little adventures outside of her own bedroom let alone the outside world?" Her face showed astonishment, but her eyes gave off curiousity.
