For the past five months, the young UCASI (the fictional United Central Agency for Security and Intelligence; result of the fusions between the former NSA and CIA three years prior) has suspected a leak within their department, a mole cunning enough to evade all their attempts of entrapment. However, every time a search is done, nothing conclusive turns up; even when something does turn up, by the time it is investigated, the real culprit has either fled, or was never there in the first place. There are, of course, several suspects within the department:
The upper executives are fairly much in question, but hard evidence and proof would be needed to hammer any of them. There are, of course, the other end of the spectrum, where the newest batch of interns arrived, but their lack of experience and massive background checks leaves them pretty much out of the picture. That, and the fact that they aren't here most of the time when most of the leaks have occurred.
An outside source could be possible, but that would still mean that someone within the department would need to be present to allow them access, as 95% of their computer systems are closed-circuit. That leaves the average employees, but again, evidence is lacking, as is motive; many of the employees are paid very handsomely, have great benefits that they'd be hard-pressed to find elsewhere, and most are of natural decent, born and breed in the States.
Recently, a news agency got ahold of highly-classified information concerning 'Project Firestorm', which has since been put on hold because of the constant hounding and dogging that higher-ups were subjected to. The leaks are starting to have effects, and the UCASI wants it to stop. Immediately. Even if it means terminating a few employees, or making them... disappear... Whatever it takes to keep their secrets their own, as the UCASI has some secrets that the public should never know about...
this is basically a near-future pseudo-realistic spy vs spy role play, with the basic idea of it coming about a while back between me and a friend of mine on another forum (who's never online anymore due to that evil entity known as "life" ), and it was great till he disappeared, so I thought I'd do this again and see if people were interested.
By "pseudo-realistic", I mean in the ways of James Bond or the original Mission Impossible TV series (but not actually taking much directly from them), where the methods could be possible, but some suspension of belief would be necessary to make this work ;D however, high-tech gadgetry would need to be limited story-wise (sorry, but no laser wristwatch for you!). This RP will be using real-world locations, because I said so
