I wrote this a long time ago about my main (and favorite) character. Elanor A. Greenleaf. And her lover (now husband) Eltharion. Please tell what you think please. This is the revised version.
-----------------
The calm, serene silence of the forest. The only sound to be heard was the owl’s hooting and the sound of leaves over turning under the small rodents paws. A loud crack resonated through the forest and a quick flash of white could be seen. A young maiden was walking through the forest, her eyes blank and void of feelings. The only feeling burning in her eyes…sorrow. Supreme and unadulterated grief. Her jade eyes glowing with a dull light; her pure white gown was torn at the edges. The beauty of her face marred by the long, deep gash in her cheek.
She walked in the likeness of a silent ghost through the forest. Her feet leaving no prints on the ground as she tread the soft ground. A soft breeze blowing into her, revealing her pointed ears. An elf maiden she is. She made her way silently, unknowingly, towards the edge of the forest. As she came to the thinning trees, she blinked as if she just realized where she had arrived. She was at the Falls. She hesitated slightly before walking over to the edge of the roaring waterfall.
She stood staring listlessly into the dark void of the night. But the darkness that threatened to consume her whole heart and soul seemed blacker than anything known. A dark through which no light could possibly penetrate. For even the night passes away, its darkness being dissipated by the first golden rays of the sun.
Silent tears made their way down her pale cheeks as she rested her hands, tightly clenched, by her side. The force of her nails on her inner palm being so great, that a small but steady trickle of blood began to fall from her closed fist. Falling to the ground with a faint “plop” and occasionally on her gown. An overwhelming anguish filled her heart. She wanted to cry, to scream until she swooned. To just fall into the darkness that was taking over her.
More tears and a small sob broke from her lips as she beheld the small golden ring on her finger. She twisted the ring off with a bloodied hand and looked it as if it was foreign to her. It was beautiful…the design being of an adamant crescent moon inside a ruby heart ringed with a thin line of gold. On the inner side, it was inscribed,” “till death do us part my love”
She raised a hand to her mouth to stifle the ragged sobs that tore from her throat. She fell down to the ground, her hand clutching the ring to her bosom. Unbidden and unwanted, the memory of the past hours came rushing back to her and hit her with full force before she even had the chance to shield herself from them…
FLASHBACK
She stood staring at her reflection; her eyes riveted on her own self, while her mind wandered over the events of the past few days. She smiled as she thought, “Today’s the day….” The day when she would be bound to the man she loved more than life itself. Who had saved her life more times than she could remember. Saved not her body, but her spirit. A man who had stolen her heart with a look and a kiss. “Dear Eltharion..” She though with a warm glow in her heart. She twirled slightly and watched the silk skirt spread out before coming back to rest in light ruffles. She stared entranced at her own reflection. Her long reddish-blonde hair hung straight and loose around her shoulders, ending in curls towards the end. A thin-see through veil was the only thing that was holding her hair in place which several white ribbons were threaded through her hair. Her dress was pure white. As white as the freshly fallen snow. It was an off-the-shoulders dress that ended up in a skirt with full sleeves and the whole dress would sparkle when the light would fall on the sequins on the dress.
She turned with a smile to her mother as she entered. Her smile faded as she saw the look on her face. Worriedly she asked, “What is it?” She was filled with fear and puzzlement as her mother burst into tears. She helped her mother to a nearby chair as she sobbed out, “He….he’s dead!” She smiled a little and said, “No he isn’t dead…you must be mistaken! He said that he would be back safe and sound by today…” Her mother gave her a look of pity and wonder before saying slowly, “I pray that I was mistaken but I am not…here is the proof.” Saying so she thrust forward a bloodied cloak and a just as bloodied pendant into her hands. She recognized the pendant straight away. For it was once hers. With shaking hands she reached for the pendant and stared at it as the suns rays shone mercilessly at the once silver moon. But now it was caked in blood. Tears shone on her eyes as she reached for the cloak and stared at it. Taking in the torn cloth at the top of it and the griffin emblem on it . The pendant fell from her hands as she took out a ring from a small pocket in the cloak. She cried out in grief as she saw the adamant heart cut through with a ruby dagger gem. The ring fell from her lifeless fingers as she saw the words, “Together forever hearts dearest”
“No” she said brokenly, “It can’t be! He can’t be dead! He can’t! He cant!” she chanted helplessly as she began to back away from the ring and cloak as if they were an evil potent. She tore at her hair, ripping away the veil and ribbons. She tore at the cuffs of her dress before she leaned against the wall, with her back towards it, and slid down with a broken sob. She hid her face in her hands, sobbing in her grief and denial. She had not moved as her mother placed a hand on her shoulder and called out to her softly, “Elanor…it is almost night…”
She had looked up at her mother with still eyes and said in am emotionless voice, “I have to go…” And without a single word, look or gesture, walked out of the room…out of the house…out of the bounds of the house.

More tears fell down her face, leaving long red lines in their wake. She kissed the ring lovingly before sliding it back onto her finger. She did not know what to do… All she knew that just yesterday she was dreaming of being with the one she loved. Being with him, calling him her husband, having his children. But now…there was nothing… She no longer had a purpose in life….No one to live for…. Or with..She did not know what to do…As if she had received a silent order, she stood up and walked once again to the edge and stared at the falls. Her eyes taking in the long and deadly fall into a watery grave. She turned and walked away a few feet before suddenly turning and running straight at the cliff. She jumped just as the edge was a foot in front of her and she spread her arms as if to embrace the cool vapors of water. She could have sworn that as she jumped, she heard her loves voice calling her name out. She had always heard that the wind has many voices, but now, she believed it. She kept her eyes closed through her fall. Almost like a falling angel clothed in white, she fell to what was to be her death. She opened her eyes and beheld, for the briefest of moments, the water…before oblivion ….
She was swirling in a black void as the water carried her body gently along its current. She did not notice as her arm scraped against a large sharp rock and cut into her arm. She also did not notice as someone cried out. A cry of gladness it seemed. There was a loud splash and strong but loving arms carried her back to dry land. A recognizable head laid itself on her still bosom and strained to hear her heart beat. Familiar lips cover hers as they willed air into her lungs. An even more familiar voice cried out in relief as she breathed out the salt water and blearily opened her moss green eyes and blinked like an owl that has been thrust into the light of mid-day.
Elanor blinked a few times as the harsh light fell on the pale face of her saviour. She narrowed her eyes adjusted to the bright light. She stared in amazement at his face and in a daze sat up, leaning on her hands as she stared at him. She raised a shaky hand up to his face, almost afraid that if she were to touch him, he would dissipate. But as her hand came in contact with warm flesh, she cried out in gladness and threw her arms around him. Sobbing, laughing in happiness.
The forest silence, so calm and serene. The silence being broken only by the slow hooting of the owl. But this time, it was not the harsh sound of sorrow that broke across the night. Nay. Only this time, twas the sound of happiness. Pure and unadulterated.
