Ash Dows stood on the barren ridge overlooking the bustling mining colony at which he now gazed. The colony had recently been seized in a bloody uprising by a radical militant group that was attempting to use it in their efforts against the Confederacy. He had been sent here with orders to assassinate the group's leader in order to disrupt the chain of command and make it a little easier for the Confederate troops to swoop in and regain control of the colony. Ash sighed and drew his tattered cloak tighter around him against the cold winds that swept across the moonlit wasteland. He was never very fond of these missions, or of the Confederacy for that matter, but at least he had heard of some horrible acts commited by the man he was charged to kill. That always made it a little easier. Ash turned back toward the stripped down Vulture that he was dropped with and mounted it. He started it up and was soon streaking down the side of the cliff he was on, being sure to stay out of range of the colony's makeshift security systems and sensors. He found a small cave with which to hide his vehicle and, after hiding the bike, turned toward the main gates of the colony. Now all I have to do is get in he thought. Security looks pretty tight, but then, when has that ever stopped me?

Dimitri looked around his makeshift base and made sure they were keeping up with permeiter checks to make sure no one had been on the way yet. This is could get ugly soon..very ugly as long as we make a stir in the Confederate Army though... he thought to himself knowing that if he defence wasn't able to spot anyone comming quick enough they would be dead with no chance of fighting back.

Vincent was standing behind Dimitri, and almost startled him when he turned around.
"Honestly Dimitri, do you really think we have a chance against the Confederacy? We are horribly outnumbered and by the history of the Confederacy, our general will be dead in less than a week. Their assassins are good, and our defence is horrid. Do you think we should escape while we still have a chance?"

Ash hid behind one of the large rocks as close as he could get to the front gates without being detected. He pulled a pair of binoculars out of his vest and scanned the defences again. Let's see... one... two troops and a Goliath. A few automated gun turrets on the wall too... This shouldn't be too hard he thought. Putting the binoculars away again, he pushed the sleeve of his cloak back enough to reveal a small wrist-mounted console and punch a few commands into it. He pointed the console far to the left of the entrance and it fired a small dart that silently lodged itself into the wall of the compound. In a moment or two the dart popped and burst apart, creating quite a racket and drawing attention of the guards on duty. As the two troops marched off to investigate, Ash flung his cloak to the wind, lept over the rock he was behind, and broke into a run directly towards the Golaith that remained at the entrance. Just before he was close enough to be picked up by the sensors, Ash pressed another button on his wrist and suddenly turned nearly invisible. He dashed right at the gates, adjusting the invisible rifle on his back and rolling between the Golaith's legs to successfully cross over into enemy territory. He found the nearest patch of shadows to blend in with and deactivated his cloaking device to save power. He had hoped it would have been a little bit more of a challenge this time, but he was happy that he got in without having to hurt anyone needlessly. He was only ordered to kill one person here and if he could help it, that would be the only one he killed. Taking in his surroundings, Ash could see the command station, which is where he was most likely to find the man in charge. Time to get this over with...
((Just for clarification... is Dimitri the commander of the base that I've been ordered to kill?))

Jack Benold, stood ever vigilant at the Entrance to the Command Center. Though Jack scanned the area over and over, he wasnt looking for threats. He was bored. Very bored. He had counted the rocks twice. He had imagined 4 different fantasy battles, where he saved the day. He counted how long he could hold his breathe for a while as well. His highest was 4 minuetes. Now he was about to go crazy. Why dont they ever change shifts?
'Oh?' he thought. 'Someones coming.' Im going to count how many steps he takes getting here'. 'one'. 'two'......

When Dimitri reached the command center he was met by a rather bored looking soldier. "Jack try not to look to happy there!" He said jokely "Why don't you go take a break and shoot something. I need to go to the general...privately."

"REALLY!" He laughed excitedly. At gaurd duty he rarely got to shoot his gun. "Now to shoot those 243 rocks I counted. Hehehe"
He busied himself shoting rocks around. Trying to see how far he could get them. He saw footprints. His mind immediatly went into action. Like an expert he.......
....started to count them.
One, two, three......
((Hes an odd one, no wonder he just gaurd duty))

Dimitri entered the general's office and began to tell the general what he thought would be the best course of action for the time being. The general laughed at his idea and took the drastic measure of dismissing him from his army. Man of all the luck Dimitri thought to himself. As he left the command center he saw Jack was still shooting as he walked to past him he yelled so he could hear him "Im gone Jack...Im gone from this army..."

"Do you really think this base has no future?" Jack fidgeted a little. He then looked at the ground considering what he just said."I mean if this is a waste, then I dont see why i should be here either."

Practically at one with the shadows, Ash slipped between alcoves and niches, making his way to the command center. Eventually, he reached the main entrance. The door was guarded by three very serious looking troops in Marine gear. Ash activated his cloaking device and crept slowly toward the door. He sighed to himself, disappointed with the level of difficulty he was faced with, while he placed his steps with trained precision. The challenge of getting to the kill usually helped to keep his mind off of his task long enough to keep him from worrying about the ethical dilemma of ending another's life. This rag-tag group of militant renegades was not enough to provide this comfort. Distracted by his thoughts for a moment or two, Ash accidentally kicked a small rock that rolled and bounced off of the nearest guard's foot.
"What the hell was that?" the guard said gruffly. "What is it, Sarge?" the man next to him asked with a Southern drawl. "I don't know..." Sarge replied. Ash froze, hoping that they would just assume it was a case of jitters from being on duty for so long like most guards did. "Shmitty," Sarge growled into his com-link, "hit the sensors for a minute, I wanna check on something..." Sh**, Ash thought. He had wanted a little more of a challenge, but this was not going to be good. In a flash, the lights above them flickered on as the sensors powered up. Sure enough, the sensors we able to cut through the cloaking device like it wasn't even there, and Ash's protective layer of invisibility melted away right in front of the three guards. "What the hell!?" bellowed Sarge as all three trained their weapons on the now fully visible Ash. Sirens began to go off to alert the entire base of his presence as Ash frowned to himself. He never enjoyed unnecessary casualties...
