Jim Raynor sat atop his Vulture, waiting for the new settlers to arrive. He hoped the Magistrate leading them was up to scratch. He was tired of dealing with the Confederate officers, especially Duke. That high-and-mighty general gave no respect to anyone. As he was waiting for the new Magistrate. the wastelands Marshal thought about the situation. Not only had the Confederacy started a war with the Protoss over resources, but they were being invaded by Zerg as well. He had seen a few while waiting for the new settlers to arrive. He sighed again and got on his radio, but there was nothing other than the normal communications.

Dan Beatal ran up towards Jim and said, "The settlers are almost here, I saw them in my binoculars." He stood next to Jim and pointed out where they were. Dan wasn't a big fan of politics. He just enjoyed fighting and didn't try to get real indepth into things.

"The settlers are almost here, I saw them in my binoculars."
Jim took out his own binoculars in response. Yes, they were there, but they were still far away. As he was scanning, Jim caught sight of movement. He focused his binoculars and cursed quietly. "Yo Dan, we got a zergling. I only saw one, but I've never known them to go anywhere alone." Putting down his binoculars and ggetting into his cycle, he called out, "Too bad the militia is all over in Backwater, if there's a hydralisk we're gonna have problems." With that he got into his Vulture, waiting for Dan to follow suit before speeding towards the zergling.

Dan checked his ammo on the chain gunand got into his vulture. He then started to ride behind Jim. Dan hadn't seen the zergling, but Dan had learned to trust Jim's expertise.

As they sped toward the zergling, Jim tried unsucessfully to raise the Magistrate on the radio. He cursed again at being unable to warn the settlers. As they neared, Jim saw that there was a hydralisk and three other zerglings, in addition to the zergling he had first seen.

"Is there any back up we can call?" Dan yelled to Jim. Dan knew that 4 Zerglings and a hydrolisk would not be easy opponents.

"Is there any back up we can call?"
"What? You mean the Conferderates?" Jim laughed out loud at that suggestion. "The high command is so useless, you could infest 'em and they wouldn't notice. No, our only chance is to blow through e'm and hope the Magistrate has a few marines. You see what you can do with the zerglings, and I'll take care of the Hydralisk."

((*looks in on the thread nervously before shoving Toni into it* Good luck! )) "We should be there soon, Toni..." *Toni Warren nodded to the marine near her.* "Understood." *Toni set about trying to contact the Confederate Marshal on the radio. She was irritated enough already and had the feeling that dealing with these people wasn't going to be fun at all... She gave an annoyed sigh, waiting for a response.*

As they were heading toward the Zerg, Jim finally got contact from the Magistrate. Signaling towards Dan to wait, Jim got on the radio. " 'Bout time you showed up. You been taking lessons from Duke on how to keep people waiting?"

" 'Bout time you showed up. You been taking lessons from Duke on how to keep people waiting?"
*Toni rolled her eyes. This guy seemed to have as much attitude as she did... How dangerous... but possibly fun.* "Hmph. No but perhaps I should if it annoys you so much."

"Jim, are they on the way? I'm gettin' a little trigger happy, don't keep me waiting!" Dan said to Jim. If the magistrate was here, that meant that a bunch of marines would sweep through and there would barely be any zerglings for himself.

"No but perhaps I should if it annoys you so much."
Jim grinned. At least this magistrate had some personality and attitude. "This ain't just a social call by the way. We got about four zerglings and a hydralisk awiting up the road from where you are. We're gonna engage, your call if you want to join in. Raynor out" He switched off his radio and called over to Dan: "Let's ride!"

"We're gonna engage, your call if you want to join in. Raynor out."
*Toni simply shook her head. Four zerglings and a hydralisk and he was acting as though it was optional on her part. Like she was going to let them take on those things alone. It didn't take long before a few of her marines were on their way to help, Toni staying behind with the settlers.*

Jim sped towards the zerg. Not far off, he noticed some marines hastening over to help. Dan right behind him, Jim came within firing range. Lossing a shot at the Hydralisk, which was intent on the approaching marines, Jim then turned his cycle. As the zerg changed their focus, the marines began shooting. Taken from two sides, and not knowing which to engage, the zerg went down in a bloody heap. Jim made his way over to the Magistrate, getting off his vulture.

Dan sped over to Jim and jumped off his vulture. The magistrate was very close now. "Well, that wasn't too hard." Dan said
