"Uh, thanks." Daniel took the mug, but didn't drink from it. He approached the Captain, staring at the city. "When do you plan on starting the raid?"

Kelli had followed the family home she sat on her horse watching the young miss prepare for bed. She walked the horse close to the fence near Kaeli's bedroom window and turned about so she was facing the sea. Kelli sat there silently as she waited in the shadows. Too many pirate had spoke of the raid and she knew that the only people who could catch these pirate would be another pirate for hire. So she waited.

"And where'd ye run off to?" Vandal said sternly. "No matter, I'm sure ye remember a bit of the town layout." He walked to the starboard side of the ship and took out his spyglass and looked out at where the fire was at, now gone. "Good," he said, then turned to the scattered crew and said, more loudly, "Prepare the launches!" He turned back to Daniel and said, "Ye'll be our scout, being as ye surely remember the town." he smiled, showing his grimey, yellow teeth.

(Yep. I think it's going down now.)
Harry stood on the deck below Captain Vandal, barking orders to the other pirates as he supervised the preparation of the launches. He helped two crew members who seemed to be having a bit of trouble -- if the captain saw them, they'd be flogged for sure -- and then decided that was the launch he'd go in on. As the boats hit the water and the pirates started heading in for the raid, Harry checked his weapons... sword, axe, at least half a dozen knives (Harry couldn't count much further past half a dozen). He didn't even notice the other crew members in his launch eyeing him fearfully until he was satisfied that all his equipment was in order. Looking up, he asked sharply, "What the bloody hell are ye lookin' at? Keep rowin'!"
The other people in the launch averted their eyes quickly.

Captain Vandal stood on the deck, watching his crew as they rowed toward shore. One launch remained behind--the one he would take when settlement was pretty well ravaged. "Cannons Open Fire!" He yelled. And a thundrous roar was heard as the cannonballs began raining on the small port.

A low whistle echoes through the air and then a loud explosion. Kelli rides forward looking closer to shore."Okay then.''She turns the house about and backs him slowly in the high bushes and pull up her cloak around her head and face. Soon now.

Opening her eyes, Kaeli thought she heard the telltale boom of cannon fire. Striding to the harbor-facing window, she opened it and gasped. Before her, she saw a magnificent ship, and its sides were alight with cannon fire. She stood there, mesmerised as she saw bands of pirates raid the small town, waking the residents and holding them at gunpoint while they stole the few precious items each family held dear.
Roughly fifteen minutes passed while Kaeli stood by her window, watching in horror as her town was torn to shreds. She heard the door open behind her, and turned to see Donovan walking towards her. He held the family's sacred sabre in his right hand.
"Donovan. What are you-" She was interrupted as her brother placed the scabbard in her hands. "Take this. If they come, which they probably will, it would gladden my heart if you had something to protect you."
"Thank you." was all she replied. Together, they watched in silence from Kaeli's bedroom as their home was destroyed by cannons and thieving pirates.

Harry knew his role... let the other pirates have fun looting and pillaging, and step in to discourage any heroes if they presented themselves. He relished that role, because it allowed him to kill with impunity. Already there were three bodies -- two members of the local constabulary, and a blacksmith who had decided to be more than he was -- lying at his feet, and the raid had just begun.
Snarling in what he thought was a suitably terrifying manner, he raised his bloodstained sword and plunged back into the fray.

She couldn't take it anymore. Kaeli turned to Donovan, and her face was grave. "I'll be back before sunrise. If I'm not, then you may want to find my body before they dump me into the grave pits."
Without another word, and before her brother could stop her, the young girl walked out of her room, down the stairs, and out of her house. Drawing the blade her brother gave her, Kaeli mounted her mare and set off towards town at an easy canter.

"Arr, ye'd best be movin' along now, dearie!" Harry said, hitting a woman who had paused to watch the running battle on the rump with the flat of his sword. The woman yelped and moved away at an impossibly fast pace, and Harry threw his head back and laughed.
He saw a horse in the distance, headed this way. Getting the attention of some of the other pirates, he gestured with his blade and said, "May be trouble. If they try to act the hero, we'll have their guts for shoelaces!" The pirates cheered, raising their swords and other assorted implements high in the air.

Murdoc slid the spyglass shut. There she was, the veritable crown jewel. He looked to the three crewmen beside him. "Let's take ashore, shall we?"
The launch hit the beach of the small settlement, and Murdoc strolled into the town, cutlass in the scabbard, not the least bit concerned. There were townspeople scurrying and crying, but none of this bothered Captain Vandal. He strolled right into the town square, where his crew were doing what they did best. "Attention, lads!" he shouted. "The girl be headed this way as we speak. Our job's half done! Take what swag ye can, and grab the girl, and set this town ablaze!" He laughed, cracking his knuckles as he did so.

Kaeli pulled up her horse, and held her blade at ready. It looked like she was going to have to fight for her life, with the rather large group of pirates coming towards her. She swung the steed around, and took a side alley that brought her to the side of the group, hoping to get past them without notice.
"Stay here, Ebony. Donovan or someone will get you." The young girl patted the horse's nose as she dismounted, then she walked to the edge of the small path and peered around the corner of the bakery. The pirates were still there, but she noticed a change in their manner of attacking her home. Something's come up... Kaeli thought to herself, still watching the theives from her hiding spot. ------------------------------------------------------- Meanwhile, Donovan was struggling to raise his stubborn father, and get him and the younger girls out of the house. "Harold, you must go! Take the girls, and head for the northern hills. I'm going to save Kaeli." The young man darted out of the house on his own steed, and instead of stopping to hide as his sister had done, he pulled up his stamping horse and stood facing the group. "Get out. All of you. Get back into your ship and leave our town to repair itself. What you have done already is enough..." ----------------------------------------------------- Kaeli heard her brother's call, and it was a great struggle for her to not run towards him and hush his stupid, blabbering mouth. "Donovan, get out of here!!" She mumbled on her breath, loud enough only for her ears.

"And who's gonna make us get out? You?" Harry asked, sneering at Donovan. "Ye seem a bit outnumbered, boy. Perhaps ye should've stayed in the kitchen with the womenfolk." Gesturing at the boy with his sword, Harry yelled, "Get him!" The pirates surged forward.
